This book is like that. It stands out among self-help books for 2 reasons: one, it doesn't utterly stink to high heaven (in fact, it doesn't stink at all -- the writing is inoffensive throughout), and two, it's actually helpful; that is, it, like The Exorcist, succeeds at being what it's supposed to be. Which is incidentally what it teaches you to do, too.
