Tip passed on
As I started High School many SAT help books were thrown my way from my always helpfull parents and relatives. But this book passed the true test of time. By the end of my Junior year this Red book was the only one left on my desk, with the flash cards scattered throughout my room. It helped me get the scores I wanted...I hope the same is true for you.

If you want a higher score, buy this book
I bought Barron's SAT I prep book and studied it for about a month before my test. It helps you learn your vocabulary and hone in on the math skills that you need work on. The best thing to prepare for the SAT, though, is to TAKE the SAT, and Barron's has plenty of practice tests that are as close to the real thing as you can get. I can sincerely give an unqualified endorsement of this book. My 1600 has Barron's written all over it.

An indispensable source for the GRE test takers!
This was my first GRE reference and practice book and it has proven to be the best. There couldn't have been better explanatory advice and comments that you could find in other GRE references of this nature. I personally find the verbal part in the book very useful in expanding my lexicon that was required for the test. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about taking the GRE!

the price of the book is very high
the price of the book is very high for our indian students, especially for middle & poor class students so this must be reveiwed & the price must be reduced

REALLY good
This book really is what the title suggests. It gives you everything you need to know to prepare for the SATs, except the shortened version..which is equally as good as the full version. Plus, it's cheap!

Comment from a Japanese reader
I am trying to obtain vocabulary level of GRE. And "Basic Word List" is an ideal tool for this. When I encounter unfamiliar words in Business Week magazine, I try to find such words in this book. I am certain that remembering all the index words in this book will strengthen my reading skill.

Great value
The book contains a very extensive vocabulary list and good test-taking strategies. The math review is in-depth and covers exactly the material needed for the exam. The practice exercises are more difficult than those found on the actual GRE, which is very helpful; it will help you score high on the actual GRE.

There isn't much difference between the 15th edition and the 14th. Both are very well edited and contain only a few negligible errors. The 15th edition contains an additional chapter on the Analytical Writing instead of the old Analytical section which is no longer used.

As far as I know, the CD-ROM is not very helpful, so you'd better buy the regular edition (without CD-ROM).

I really felt that I got full value for my money, and that's the most important thing. You get a really good prep book, and it is just up to you to use it well.

Great for Writing Vocabularies
If you are looking to build a writing vocabulary this would be the book to buy. Most other vocabulary books are intermixed with a special set of words or bombarded with the author's interpretation on how to build your own vocabulary. But for the most part, people who are looking to expand their writing vocabulary already have a coup on how they want to expand their vocabulary and are just looking for the words to do so. This book allows that to happen. With 3,000 perfect vocabulary words, this is a quintessential book for anyone who is trying to expand their writing vocabulary.

**Warning**
Don't buy this book if you are looking to expand your reading vocabulary. Reading definitions won't help you expand your vocabulary-it's a very inactive form of understanding. Try "Word Power Made Easy" by Normal Lewis or read the classics which are laden with great words. (If the classics aren't your thing, try Asimov's Foundation Series, it's a fun read and chalk full of great vocabulary words.) If you love looking up definitions or looking for an easier way to expand your vocabulary; think about buying Merriam-Webster's speaking dictionary (mws-1840.)

Analyzing and Understanding Data
A more appropriate name for the book would be "Analyzing and Understanding Data Using SPSS for Windows and Macintosh" to underscore the book's usefulness when one is analyzing data and wants explanations of the statistical procedures. This book is not only helpful to those who conduct quantitative research, but also helpful to students enrolled in applied statistics courses, in general research methods, and any course that involve the analysis of quantitative data. The book is very useful because the authors provide many chapters (i.e., lessons) with research examples of applicability, brief explanations of statistical procedures, discussions of underlying assumptions, step-by-step instructions using research examples (with data), descriptions of interpreting the illustrated SPSS output, and reporting the written or table results in APA style.

Great book
I think this book is a great book for people understanding basic statistics and using SPSS. Actually, I also saw some reviewer didn't satisfy this book because it was too tough or could not cover more stuff. Honestly, I think this book already cover a lot of methods and I do not think one book can cover everything. Besides, if people need a specific method (for example: repeated measurement), I really do not think it is a right thing that they want to find every solutions from this book. It is unfair. Anyway, I still like this book because it is really a useful book.

Mistakes
This PSAT guide is extremely helpful in taking the PSAT test, but there are several mistakes in the answer guides for some practice math questions and several other questions in the practice tests that users should be aware of. These mistakes might be confusing to users who are unable to catch the mistakes and know the correct answers.

A must for GRE preparation
The math review of this book is a tremendous help to revise basic and important math concepts. It has given important formulae in bullet points with very instructive excercises. This is important for the people who are out of touch with this level of math. The vocabulary list is an essential for anyone serious about increasing their verbal score (unless your verbal skills are already phenomenal).

The only drawback is that the full-length tests are not indicative of the actual CAT test questions and expected scores.

Overall a book necessary to go through before you are gruelled by ETS!

Excellent Test Prep
You will not find a better GRE Test prep than this book and CD-ROM. The 3500-word vocabulary list and practice questions are right on target with what you will need to know. The diagnostic test specifically narrows down the math subject areas you need the most help in reviewing. The math tutorial pages are informative and concise, with practice mini-tests after each section. The Analytical practice questions are also very similar in length and complexity to the kinds of questions you will receive on the actual test if you are aiming for a high score.

To top it all off, there are five full-length practice tests at the back of the book, in addition to the CD-ROM exam, which can be taken a number of times, and offers (mostly) different questions each time. The CD-ROM exam thoroughly prepared me for the rigors of the actual test.

Yes, there are a few typos in this book, as in almost any other book of this nature, and no, they are not significant enough to greatly alter your prep experience.

I was satisfied with my test results (V 610, Q 650, A 800), and I relied solely on this book for preparation.

Outstanding help for the GRE
Let's just start by saying that I never used a test prep book of any kind that was more helpful---and I've used plenty: for both the PSAT and SAT, for AP courses, NYS Regents exams, etc. The best parts for me were the math---because everything was explained so clearly, and I was never very good at math--- and the analytical reasoning--because I had never seen questions like that before, and I found them intimidating. The practice analytical questions were just like what I saw on the real test, and I got most of them right!

I can't contradict any other review, but I didn't find a single error in the math section---maybe because my book was the fourth printing and the typos from the first printing were already corrected. In any event, what was even more helpful than the math review were the math tactics, which enabled me to answer correctly several questions for which I was clueless at to the correct mathematical solution. That was amazing.

I also found the vocabulary section good, but I spent less time on that, since that wasn't my problem area.

Good luck to anyone taking the test. I honestly think this book will help you.
