Any body thats single needs to read this book.It shows you what real womanhood and manhood looks like. And how the lords wants to clean you before you get marry.Bishop Long is a awesome man of god and i really respect him.Believe it or not he keeps it real, "you know what i mean".Nothing about him is waterdown.

Anointed all around.
I am a member of New Birth and this is the second time that I have read this book! It is so powerful and at the same time, it speaks life. I reccomend this book to Singles & Couples alike. This book is awesome with a capital "A"! 'Bishop Long is truly a man of God. I love him & his family.

"A BOOK FOR EVERYONE"
This book was wonderful. I recommend this book for singles as well as married couples. I also suggest that men and women read this book. I learned a lot about the order of marriage through the Word that Bishop Long focused on in this book. I enjoyed the fact that Bishop Long's book was totally scripture-based. It's not too late for anyone to start their marriage or relationship on the right foot.

Bouncing with delight
I've developed the habit of giving children's books at baby showers. I try to give a mix of rhyme, fairy tales and story books. I especially like to find books both parents and children will long treasure. The first time I found this book, I adored it so much it was hard to part with it. The illustrations are almost breath-takingly beautiful. I've given it away twice now but feared I might never be so fortunate as to stumble across this gem again. You cannot imagine my joy to find it here!

I love that cover bears the same illustration as the dust jacket. On the down side, I wish there were a better mix of boys and girls in the artwork. There are some little boys but many more little girls. And there are no boys on the cover.

The illustrations are wonderful. Great poems.
I collect children's books. This is one of my most prized. Donna Green does an excellent job with the illistrations. And the poems for children are sure to last a lifetime. This is definately a book that will be passed down for ages. I also own the Velveteen Rabbit, illustrated by Donna Green. Not often can an illustrator do justice to such a treasured stroy, but, her work is magnificent. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents for the rest of the wold to enjoy.

Just plain fun to read
Dumas is deservedly famous for his intricate and engrossing novels, and The Three Musketeers is certainly no exception. As far as classics go, this one is among the most fun that you'll ever read.

The novel follows the protagonist D'Artagnan as he tries to join the French king's elite bodyguard unit, the Musketeers. D'Artagnan befriends three current Musketeers (Porthos, Athos and Aramis) and what follows is a fast-paced literary romp as the four friends share a series of swashbuckling adventures in 17th century France. The plot is full of twists and turns but is cleverly developed and believable. Dumas expertly develops the characters, engaging the reader as the characters experience war, love and just about everything in between.

The edition I'm reviewing (the Illustrated Junior Library version) is highly abridged (300 pages vs over 600 pages) and has many beautiful illustrations, making an already fun novel even more accessible for young readers.

The Fantastic Four
The story starts out with a young naive Gascon by the name D'artagnan who goes to seek his fortune with the King's Musketeers. On his journey to Paris he has a tangle with a man named Rochefort whom D'artagnan chases throughout the book, along with his female companion Milady, a woman of pure evil.

He meets the Three Musketeers and they don't get off to such a great beginning as he finds himself preparing to fight a duel with all three of them. Eventually D'artagnan wins over Athos, Porthos, and Aramis and together the four set off on adventures to protect their majesty the queen (Anne of Austria) against the bad intentions of the cardinal.

It's all intigue and romance and swashbuckling! I loved it all, every sentence. And i love how M. Dumas twists history to his own literary devices.

I played hooky to finish reading this book!

better than all the films
THere is a reason that classics are regarded as classics: they are timeless and very fun to read, often more fun than you would imagine. THis is a long book, 900 pages in the French version, but I sliced through so fast that I was sorry when it ended.

The plot outline is simple. The four musketeers - for there really are four - want to help the queen in her love for Lord Buckingham of England. All the rest is intrigue and adventure related to that. But the episodes are so funny, the chemistry between the characters so subtle and realistic, that it makes for a truly great read. Indeed, the characters of the musketeers are so well drawn, their inter-relations so complex, that a film or even a miniseries simply cannot do it justice. The glimpses at historical personnages is also fascinating, from Richelieu to Louis XIII. Finally, you get a flavor for the Paris of that epoch, just after the religious wars.

Highly recommended.

A good companion
This past school year was my last, as I just retired after 28 years. My ED class read, listened on tape, and studied the book Holes. Of course, we went on a field trip to see the movie - awesome!. Stanley Yelnat's Survival Guide makes a very good companion for the book. I even ordered it knowing I was retiring - for 2 reasons. One because I wanted to read it for myself and the second reason was to give it to other teachers if I found it worthwhile. Two very lucky teachers with be getting Stanley Yelnat's Survival Guide. Buy!!

read holes first though!
good short little book. i enjoyed it but you really need to read holes otherwise you won't like this book... go see the movie too 'cos it was AWESOME!!!

A reasonable but not great collection
What we have here is an interesting but erratic collection of short stories that range from very good to very bad. All are by woman authors. Sometimes it is the author who is at war instead of the characters. Some at least realize that going to war can get anyone killed. Since the stories are separate, they should be reviewed separately.

Best: Traitor - a witty modified mystery that keeps the reader smiling while thinking and wondering. 2nd Best: A Few Good Men - good character building on a humorous premise. 3rd Best: Lizard - a spirited adventure with a balanced view of females. ... 3rd Worst: Fugitives - glorifies rottenness; if a man acted like that he would be a villian. I guess the point is that a woman can be rotten. 2nd Worst: Notes During a Time of Civil War - starts with a serious analogy then flies off on an irrelevant tangent. Worst: Flambeaux - Simultaneously horrific and nonsensical; horrendous.

A great, reasonable and enlightening anthology
I read this book a good two years ago, but I loved this book and feel I have to respond to the other person's review.

I don't know if the other reviewer doesn't like the concept of women in combat, is misogynistic, or just doesn't know women and the world very well. Or maybe s/he doesn't read much sf or much else either.

That s/he would call Margaret Ball's "Notes During a Time of Civil War" one of the worst when it struck me like Atwood's _Handmaid's Tale:_ Both are like a hard blow to the solar plexus. Perhaps many men and some women don't get that fear. "Flambeaux" is a beautiful, tragic, lovely story about the ties that unite and destroy us. It's also the best story about women combatants in this anthology. I used it in a lesson plan to teach about war fought by outsiders.

This in my opinion is an excellent anthology of war fiction. Please read it: you'll be glad you did.

Cover Photo is Questionable
Sullivan's decorative designs are much cruder and less engaging than the design on the cover (The Schlesinger Mayer store) which is almost assuredely the work of his cheif draftsman, Geroge Grant Elmslie. This type of awesome interlace coincides with the years Elmslie was employed by Sullivan and reappears on Elmslie's work after he leaves.

Sullivan was a marginal architect (See Three Great Architects) whose greatest contribution may simply be that he was the focal point for the Group of Eighteen.
