Reassuring my Faith
Following my mother's death, my faith in the afterlife was sorely challenged until I read "When the Dying Speak". This book provided a reaffirmation of my beliefs. The myriad of messages shared with Mr. Wooten-Green by dying patients and by their families provided VALUABLE insights and understanding of what the dying may be experiencing, what they may be needing, and what the families may be needing. A most significant message shared by the author is that when we are with the dying, we are on holy ground! I will be forever grateful that this author took the time to "put to paper" such an inspirational review and commentary. GET THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF AND FOR OTHERS!

The most uplifting book on death I've ever read!
My mother (Rosemarie Twomey - see review above) gave me a copy of this book. I have enjoyed it so much and it has given me such a different way to approach my fear of death of loved ones that I'm here at Amazon.com to buy copies for friends of mine who have recently lost loved ones and also one who ministers to the dying and bereaved. I'm so glad to have the opportunity to read this while my parents, spouse and siblings are still alive and healthy. Thank you Ron!

A must-read for persons in the hospice ministry
This is an easy-to-read book that, I believe, would be extremely useful to anyone facing the imminent death of a loved one or friend, or (as will happen to most of us) will face that at some time in the future. For me, it takes away the feeling of helplessness I have felt in the past when dealing with such a situation. The author gives some practical and edifying guidance as to how to "be there" for the dying person. Beyond that, it is an uplifting and spiritual rendering of the experiences that the author has had in his ministry as a Hospice chaplain, including some painful, but beautiful, accounts from his personal life. Anyone in the hospice or caring industry would be well-served by a reading of this book.

The latest in a wonderful series of Dark Tales
Yet again, I have been enthralled, scared and drawn in by Mr. Citro's tales about my home state. He even covered my home-town ghost in this installment, which thrilled me to no end. He is truly one of our master storytellers, and I highly recommend all of his work.

Vermont's best story teller does it again
Joseph Citro's collections of Vermont folklore have become as much a part of the Green Mountain State as sugaring and the Lake Champlain Monster. GREEN MOUNTAINS, DARK TALES continues this series of terrificly readable and enjoyable stories based on Vermont folklore and legend. Anyone who likes the state or just likes a good story would do well to pick up this book. It makes for addictive reading.

For anyone who loves a good story
In the tradition of old-time Yankee yarn-spinners, Citro delivers something that's all too rare nowadays--a darn good story. Dozens of them, in fact. I got so wrapped up in the tale called "The House of the Feasting Dead" that I nearly went past my subway stop. This is a hair-raising tour "dark" side of Vermont, a place populated by ghosts, mystics, spiritualists and even a "stone-throwing devil."

Brilliant Portrayal!
This play is an excellent view in the wonderful world of Anne. I fell in love with the movie at a VERY young age, so was extatic to find out that it also had it's own musical! This play is impecably written... perfectly portraying the spunk of Anne, critical nature of Marila, and kind heart of Matthew! It even lets you into the world of a few minor characters, such as Lucilla Harris the shopkeeper, whom we all know for selling Matthew Cuthburt the dress with 'puffy sleeves'. It has the perfect balance of emotion and comedy. After reading this play, I actually brought it too my local theater company. It is in the works, and will be performed this fall! The lines are wity, and the songs catchy... what else could you ask for when looking for a musical with substance?! Whether you are looking for a future theatrical project, or simply a fun read, I know that you will find this play to be VERY rewarding!

Great Read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Catherine Booth. I had known she was a vital part of the team, but I didn't realize the extent of her influence on her husband. This is a book I'm keeping in my library. It's well worth the space

Enter worlds of stark beauty...
This book is definatly one of the early sci-fi greats. The story takes place in the middle twenty-first century. The plot centers around a P.P. Corps "conscience" named Allan Odegaard whose job it is to survey various potenitial colony planets for an overcrowded Earth, to find out if any of the native spieces are sentient. His travels take him from the frozen planet Sister to Crystal, a planet inhabited by silicon-based plant lifeforms. On many of these planets, he encounters the "New Romans", a greedy, earthcentric political party who care nothing for any of the alien races and who will not stop at anything to make sure Odegaard is out of the way for good. One the most interesting of the alien races are the Cryers of Crystal, beings who are one group mind, yet each member of which is a separate, sentient entity. (If you want to see what the Cryers look like, check out "Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials" by Wayne Barlowe.) This book, while risque at times, is an excellent and interesting read, one that will keep you engrossed till the end. Each planet is beautifully and painstakingly described, and the enjoyment quality of the book makes you wonder what kind of dolts the publishers were to let this book go out of print. This book fully deserves five stars, and more. If you can find it, buy it! As it is, I can only hope someone makes a movie based on this book (and does not ruin the book in the process) so to cash in on the profits, some publisher will be literally forced to reprint this book.

GREAT BOOK ... GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS!!
This book is perfect for children. The illustrations are what first drew me in ... and after reading it, I found the book itself wonderful as well. The illustrations are hilarious and will hold a child's attention. I think this is a book that a child would read over and over again just to see the creative pictures of the green goblins and to read about what each of the goblins is wearing ... such as "Thompson trying some tulip underwear ..." It's a great book for kids (and adults). It will bring about many laughs. I highly recommend it!

not to forget
I first encountered Ceravolo almost 6 years ago, after first diving into Celan. The odd conjunction proved more fruitful than one might think. Underneath the green lake's awake surface, tense with linguistic wit and ingenuity (so characteristic of the New York School--for better or worse) is a dark depth that resonates long after the verbal fireworks are ashen. How a genuine and humane sorrow comes draped in such life-tuned language is a marvel no budding poet should miss, and for the poet in full bloom, Ceravolo's voice, like wind, will pollinate from afar. What plants spring up in spring are not narcissus around the lake--this lake, Ceravolo's lake, will be surrounded by flowers that are unique, are his own.

House of Dreams
I read an Anne of Green Gables many, many years ago and immediatly fell in love. At once, I went out and bought the entire series, loving each book more than the one before. This is a line of books I would highly recommend to anyone, of any age. It is truly my favorite set of books. No matter how many times I have read it...and my first copy had fallen apart years ago...I laugh and cry just as hard as I did the first time. Anne of Green Gables 2, or Anne's House of Dreams, is a wonderful story of a couple just starting out in marriage. Moving from their friendly town of Avonlea, they started out anew, in a little cottage by the seashore. Gilbert, Anne's husband, is a young doctor, beginning his practice. They make many new friends, each more interesting than the last. There is even a mystery to unravel in their midst! Romance galore, love, friendship and dreams unfold before our eyes. Even when we read of their tragedies, we hurt along with them, feeling their pain. That is how well this book is written. Read it, enjoy it and buy the whole set. You will never regret it!

NICE!
Anne of Green Gables is one of the first books to make me fall in love...with it. I mean, it was cute, it was lesson teaching (hehe, that sounds strange), and Anne was just such a good character. She sort of reminded me of me: bad temper (I've gotten much cooler now, haha), big words, amazing imagination, smart (haha, well, I was and am PRETTY SMART, at least, I think, haha). Gilbert reminded me of this guy at school...haha, well, I won't get into details there, but the book was charming, and I've already read it over four times in only like three years, which is sort of alot. I loved this book, and I believe that many other people will learn to appreciate its cuteness and truth and stuff over the years, hehe. Enjoy!

Pure delight!!
When I first read this book many years back, I loved it, and was sad for it to end when I finished reading it. I loved every single part of it...I simply couldn't put it down. Anne is such a character...you can't help liking her more and more, and wishing that she was your own "bosom friend" just as I did. While reading, I was transported back to that time, and I could just see Avonlea and Green Gables, the school which Anne studied in, and I could see Diana and Miss Stacy and Gilbert just as if they were my own friends.

I loved this book, and read it many times over again after I first picked it up, and it still delighted me. Lucy Maud Montgomery is a stunning writer, and I believe that she must have been like Anne, for no one could create such a realistic character and write everything that poured out of Anne's mouth...her made up stories, the things that she she thought of, her wild yet delightful imagination...all in all, Anne of Green Gables is one of the finest books I've ever read, and were ever written. I strongly recommend it to anyone, old or young. Everyone can relate to Anne and she could make you smile like she did for me.

Spooky Moss-Colored Fun
I have always had a special place in my heart for the Green Mountain state and for ghost stories, so image my delight when I found them combined in one volume.

Taking all the tales of supernatural events said to have occurred in Vermont and anthologizing them, this book illustrates, to this reader anyway, what a wonderfully quirky little state Vermont really is.

Covering everything from traditional haunted houses and ghost sightings, to UFO encounters, flying silos, and Bigfoot-like creatures, "Green Mountain Ghosts, Ghouls & Unsolved Mysteries" can only be described as fun.

A warning for the easily spooked (such as myself): This book is eerie in an X-Files kind of way. There were times when I had to put it down because I was starting to scare myself. However, in the end I always picked it back up and to this day it has a prized spot on my bookshelf.

Fascinating and Engrossing
Ghosts, Ghouls, and Unsolved Mysteries by Citro is without a doubt the best book of its kind I have ever read. Indeed, this book goes much farther than telling of simple he said, they said stories, but presents a perspective that is far more truthful, far more interesting, and far more human than anything else. All the stories are from Vermont itself, and it succeeds in bringing a new layer to the vastly misunderstood 14th state, at least for us non - residents. For me, I know not to read this book late at night, or when I'm alone. For who knows what will greet me when I fall asleep.

Very Entertaining
Growing up in Chester, VT, my girlfriend thought that I'd enjoy this book. She was absolutly correct. Reading the stories behind many of the towns and woods around Chester was really interesting for this particular Vermonter, who had more than a few spooky nights of his own when he lived there. But, even those who've never been to Vermont will enjoy the spooky stories and tales contained. A great read!
