This book outlines history in a way i never thought possible. It helped me so much when i had to prepare for a history class in only a couple of minutes. Many of my professors have told me about this book and i agree it is really good.

This book not only devotes a chapter to the history of history, but it also outlines why you should study history. It gives good solid background on research, and where to start looking. If you have a paper due on Medieval Europe, this book will tell you where to find materials for Medieval Europe. Not just the library, it will tell you about PRIMARY SOURCES! which is the key to writing History. This book doesn't give too much information on Historians, and other aspects of the profession such as expected income, how to be successful, but it does clue you in as to the research and writing part, which is the biggest part. Great book for students of History, but not for non-majors, it would just serve to confuse and frustrate those not majoring in the subject.
