Treasure of Information
This collection of works by the various authors offers the listener an opportunity to have an easily accessed master mind group in the field of human growth. My morning commute's blahs are a thing of the past when I plug in my tapes and visit with the likes of Jack Canfield, Marianne Williams and the others. Each offers a conversational monologue which address basic human perceptions and attitudes. I have listened to all the tapes at least twice and will listen to them again and again. Whether at home or on the road, each tape is a treasure of information which offers the listener tools to reshape basic views of life. These tapes are well worth the value. They are like good traveling companions. You will welcome their presence, and delight in their gifts. I strongly recommend it to anyone.

Charming and Informative
Mr. Graves' books are beautiful, with realistic yet entertaining line drawings, and comprehensive, enjoyable text. "What Is A California Gray Whale" is being used by a friend of mine in science classes. A great resource for parents, teachers, and (mainly) children. Highly recommended!

Rebellions and Revolutions: China from the 1800s to the 1980s (Short Oxford History of the Modern World)

Clever and Informative
I found this book by Jack Gray dealt with the history of modern China very succesfully, and provided a factual account of history until the early 1980's. I particularly liked the epilogue covering the events of Tiananmen Square in 1989. Altogether a very good book!

great background and reference book
This book provides an excellent background of Chinese History in the past two centuries, and is very useful as a reference book for dates, figures, and events. However, I found that Gray was often eager to condone many people he shoudln't have. On the whole though, I have yet to find another book that covers such a broad period in Chinese history so well.

An ironic parody of ideological politics in a SF world
Vance ventures in the world of politics in The Grey Prince with an ironic tale where the oppressed are found to be oppressors and the self-righteous prove to follow disguised self-interest of grandeur and fame. Curiously, this time the main Vancian character is introduced as somewhat of a villain, the storytelling evolving to show his true side as well as his "noble" rivals - whose true face is not as noble as it appears. The ending, as always, shows an admirable ironic witt.

An intelligent, educated critic at how real world politics can degenetate between natives and colonials, with a keen reminder that "abstract" interest groups rarely defend their members' grassroots views.

Interesting for the student of politics as for the SF fan looking for inspiring social dynamics.

Vance tells a tale of alien succession fascinatingly.
A returnee to the planet Koryphon discovers changes and mysteries in the behavior of his old friends. The displaced former masters of Koryphon are subservient to human immigrants, who are trying to agree upon a formal relationship with them. Typically humanity cannot agree, and the differences between advocates degenerates to opposition and conflict. The urban factions promote their solution based upon abstractions formed through social fashion and educated consensus. Those who deal most with the native population are faced with the threat of externally imposed order and loss of their way of life. Told in Vance's typically elaborate manner the story shows how the most convoluted human and alien relationship must be understood internally, by the participants, to reach a working relationship. The tale hinges on enlightened self interest of the characters as they all pursue individual goals; not at all transparently. An exemplary Vance title, with all his sense of! ! wonder and roundabout manner of getting to the real point of the story. Well worth a read!!

Excellant companion book for practice development
This book is written in an accessible and practical format. It assumes nothing but at the same time treats the reader as an intelligent participant on the journey to understanding evidence based practice.

It is up to date and I was especially impressed with the web address it gives to ensure the reader is kept abreast of any changes since publication.

It systematically explains the need and use of 'evidence', how to find it (the search advice is comprehensive and includes details such as search terms and the best search engines aswell as web addresses) how to evaluate it and also how to act on it.

All in all this book was great, and I would reccomend it to anyone involved in evidence based healthcare practice as it will guide you through the thorniest problems.

My review
This book is OK. Even though a very boring subject, it has to be taken by most if not all 1st or 2nd year Accounting students. It is informative and a great asset if you are interested in managerial accounting, otherwise stay away from it.
