A deeply personal and emotionally moving account
The collaborative effort of Haim Gordon, Rivca Gordon, and Taher Shriteh, Beyond Intifada: Narratives Of Freedom Fighters In The Gaza Strip showcases the personal testimonies of six Palestinians (four men and two women), who tell of the conflicts of the Gaza Strip that began with the 1993 peace process, and continue down to the present day. A deeply personal and emotionally moving account that lends human faces to the strife and turmoil that have been ongoing within the Holy Land, Beyond Intifada is a welcome contribution to International Studies collections with respect to the Palestinian/Israeli ethnic, political, cultural, and national disputes.

Dictionary of Existentialism

Excellent Reference Tool for Students and Scholars
This text covers key themes in existential thought; be they literary, philosophical, theological, or psychological. Entries included are: aesthetics, freedom, being, community, death, epistemology, anxiety, relation, religion, object, metaphysics, and dozens of others. There are also entries on key existential figures such as: Kierkegaard, Marcel, Tillich, Arendt, Buber, Sartre, Camus, Ingarden, Bultmann, Dostoyevsky and many more. How does one rate a Dictionary of Existentialism? Compared to three other dictionaries of existentialism that I have used, this has been the most helpful by far. The entries (by more than sixty different scholars), force the reader to acknowledge that existential thinking is a much closer-knit realm of thought than is often portrayed. In each idea or figure discussed, a direct link provides a solid reference point in which further study can be engaged upon.

An excellent look at egyptian society through Najib Mahfouz
This book gave excellent insight into both Mahfouzs' writing style as well as Egyptian culture in many of its peculiarities. Though at occasionally the author takes some conclusions to extreme ends, the book rings true for arab culture and islamic culture in egypt as it is portrayed through Mahfouz's writings.
