Not for the Christian Hearted :)
Honk If you are Jesus shows one person's pesimistic views on Christianity and on Jesus Christ in particular. This book looks at the idea of possibly clonning Jesus and as it is written in 1st person narration, bases itself apon one female gynaecologist's views on the topic. It is quit an interesting book which deals with a very controversial issue. If you are especially into DNA and genetics, this book will definately open your eyes.
An excellent book, which is both timely & controversial
An excellent book, which is both timely & controversial, that deals with the attempt to clone Jesus.
The book is about geneticists trying to locate and replicate the man who was Jesus, and bring him into the modern world.
A Great read!
Want to read some fair dinkum Aussie literature?
Peter Goldsworthy's book is one that defines Australian literature. Not only does he comment on cloning, he manages to challenge ideas of science and religion at the same time. He calls into question gender-relationships. He explores the meaning of family and mothering. He creates characters who are as unpredictably human as your neighbors. Values espoused by one turn out to be made tangible by another. Setting the whole ball rolling is the challenge to create a human clone from blood centuries old supposedly taken from the very cross from which Jesus was hung. I read Honk If You Are Jesus for an Australian Lit. and Film class I took while studying abroad in Queensland, Australia. The book itself is quite a trip! Happy reading!

Keep It Simple , Stupid
You will enjoy this book, particularly, if you find the theme of " knowing when to give up " of interest. The central character Mack is an ageing soccer player in a second-rate team who is about to be ousted by the new coach. He's an appealing character who tries to fight off life's disapointments with wisecracks. The sub-plot presents again the theme of "knowing when to give-up" - this time in relation to Mack's wife's efforts to conceive. Peter Goldsworthy's books are receiving renewed attention in Australia, with his book "Maesto" being on current high school reading lists.

music and talent
in the first few pages of this book it describes the scene and location of Darwin.. the characters are well described and their identitys were shown as the book went on.. it pulls you to the world of music and hardships.. it tells you about Pauls' ability to perform music but to a certain degree that he can only play technically good but never be great... a touching book full of emotions, passion and lessons on how we should accept somebody and also learning about another person...
Beautifully written
I read Maestro for my Year 11 Related English class and it is one of those rare books that is greatly enhanced once studied. Many people feel unsatisfied by the ending and think the book was altogether too short, but that is the very skill of Goldsworthy. His writing is beautifully crisp; there is not a superfluous word in the entire novel. His writing is rich with symbolism. While the book explores many themes, Paul's journey from callow arrogance to painful recognition of his own mediocrity affected me the most. This is one of the most refreshing Australian novels I have ever read.
Easy-to-read, interesting and entertaining
A fantastic book to study, especially for those with a musical background/interest. It follows Paul from mid-teenager until about 25-30. He learns music in Darwin from the 'Maestro', Eduard Keller, now a small-time music teacher after leaving Vienna at the end of World War II. The book is cleverly constructed and easy to read.
