Oh, what a bonus! A great cookbook and a surprise inside...
I had been wanting this cookbook for a long time but never got around to ordering it. (I know - excuses, excuses!) Normally, I like to order by mail (like Amazon), but not too ago, I walked into a major bookstore chain in Houston where they had some copies on sale. I thumbed through it and saw many enticing recipes at first glance - not just one! Like Aunt Pittypat's Pecan Poundcake - you can't go wrong with this one! Buy the book and see the surprise ingredients! Anyhow, because of a silly habit I have, I always reach down and get from the middle bottom. When I opened up the book, there in the front cover was Regis Phlbin's personal signature. It read, "Thanks & Bon Appetit - Regis Philbin." I asked the clerk about it and she said sometimes they send out signed copies. Thanks, Regis, for making my day! The wonderful and funny personalities of Regis & Kathy Lee and their guests come alive all throughout this book which makes it that much sweeter! I love the book! The garlic rice with pine nuts (yum! yum!) is worth the money all by itself! I can't wait to try more recipes. But now I have to buy another copy so I can actually turn the pages! (I'm saving this copy!) To all who buy it - bon appetit!

Great "Star" Recipes and a wide range of interesting dishes
The book is well organized. It is lots of fun for the TRUE Regis and Kathie Lee Fans. However, even if you don't like them you'll enjoy the cook book. So check it out and enjoy a dish tonight.

Regis 6/15/94-5/19/95 and Some of his yesterdays
Regis's book logs many of the days(incl some holidays) between 6/15/94-5/19/95 with some of the yesterdays prior to 6/14/94 .....Good intro by the Regis and Cathy Live staff at that time( Michael Gelman and Cathy Lee Gifford) Gelman still Gelman and Cathy Lee ,has moved on for even better someday.. ,plus there is much levity through out( It was given as a gift to me for Xmas 2000,I've skimmed through the entire book and got a few chuckles without even getting to much into the NY ,NY details(photos were great,& joke about Perry Como quite funny). It ends with smoothness and ease:as Regis, in his biography says to the reader" I've got to find my plane tickets, back my bags and get ready for the next show. After all,I'm only one man". 12/27/00 abj

Funny and enlightening
Reading this book is like sitting down with Regis and listening to him tell you stories. You will be able to look deeper into the man that engages in Host Chat with Kathie Lee everyday. This book is an example of how far Regis really came in life and how hard he had to work for it. This can almost be a self-help book in a way because it portrays the commitment to excellence put forth by Regis to achieve his dream....and did he ever!

A great, fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I learned things about Regis that you won't learn by watching him on TV. I enjoyed reading about his trials and tribulations of his career, from his early days to the present. I have recommended this books to others. Whoever has my copy, please return it! This is one book you can read again.

Oh yeah!
Oh yeah...another winner by regis and kathie lee. This book is a good addition to your bookshelf if you're keen on entertaining, giving parties, or just looking for holiday tips. While most of their books are good, I foud this especially helpful since it even covered holidays and parties. I came across many new and different ideas, not to mention ones that are economical and REALLY REALLY useful. If you've read all there is to read on this subject, then this book is just another one of them, but if not, then this is a definite addition to your bookshelf. But either way, this book is also a lot of fun,so you'll want to read it anyway.

Review: I Can't Belive I Said That
I read the autobiography of Kathie-Lee Gifford. The book was based on a girl who was born in a small French town struggled though her upbringing, and managed to make it big. The author made excellent use of various writing tools, including flashbacks, when she describes her childhood. Also, the author was good in the way things were phrased (ex. instead of saying, she didn't have the best teeth, it was stated " so I didn't have a future of starring in toothpaste commercial"). It was a good book to read because the author made me feel as though I was there and could feel what was happening. The realistic details made me feel as though I could see the small home in which she was born. I could feel her pain as she experienced her second miscarriage. I was shocked when I learned of her struggle through her first marriage and how she managed to come out stronger then she was when she entered it.
I think this book would appeal to female's readers more so then it would to the male. Obviously, the main character is a woman, therefore the female reader would better relate to the book. This book tells a great story about the exception to America's woman. Instead of being battered and worn, Kathie-Lee, was strong and resilient. She came from a small town, had a hard upbringing, and is now not only a dedicated mother and wife, but also a role-model, and a sucessful actress.

Read the original!
It's an okay book, but nothing close to the original. "The Small One" was actually written by Charles Tazewell, best known for "The Littlest Angel". Tazewell's version, which is heartbreakingly beautiful, is out of print. If you can lay your hands on a copy via your local library or a used book store, do!

A Good Story.
Granted this book maybe nothing like the original story. However, it does contain the heart of the original story. The message of love, sacrifice, hope, and how God has a plan for everyone comes through clear. True, most of the language is simple, but that's to be expected of a book based on a Disney film based off a classical work. Though this may not be as powerful as the original, it contains the essence of the story and for that, it's a book worth reading.

Great
This is one of my favorite children's books. It is about a little boy who loves his donkey, Small One, but the donkey is old and weak. The boy's father cannot afford the donkey anymore. The boy goes into town to sell Small One. Small One is willing to sacrifice his life for the boy, but the boy will not allow it.

This is a cute and inspiring tale of friendship. I would definitely recommend this book to people. This book teaches us a lesson. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend. The ending of the story is great. You won't be disappointed!

Strangly Appealing Bio
As a liberal feminist living is San Francisco, I have few venues to share my appreciation for Kathie Lee Gifford. Although I suspect most of her fans are wholesome, All American Christians living in the Midwest and the South, I too find her sugary, self-absorbed persona irresistable. Why? While so many of today's celebrities have images that seem somehow manufactured, Kathie Lee breaks down the fourth wall, on her show and in this book, by sharing all her intimate secrets, some of them embarassingly tame. Perhaps more than any other tv personality, she is a reflection of a time that is fading from modern life: a 50s childhood of church on Sunday and summers at the beach, with parents that threatened to disown her if she slept with her boyfriend prior to marriage. The childhood reminiscenses in this book are charming, as are her accounts of motherhood. But Kathie Lee proves herself as a normal human being when she recounts her mismatched first marriage to "the perfect Christian catch" and her disillusioning experiences at Oral Roberts University. She emerges, unlike so many of today's celebrities, as a woman who has had to question herself and her values.

One of the better autobiographies.
This is one of the better autobiographies to read in my opinion. Kathie Lee may be sugary sweet, but she doesn't sugar coat it in her book.

I find her interesting, because I think there are and have been many women that tried to have a career and fame that she has had. Yet when she was told at an early age that she couldn't sing, she took on the "Oh yeah? I'll show you." attitude.

In all honesty she is a good example of why trying until you succeed works. She has it all and even after bad press she still has it all.

She goes into detail about growing up with parents that didn't tolerate bad manners, a non-appreciation of family and God, and still fell head over heels for a surfer named Yancy. She saw the false side of show business before entering it herself. She married young, and then went on to have a few relationships before the "Giff" that showed her what the difference between being a trophy and a treasure. Of course would the book be the same if she didn't share stories about Regis, Cody and Cassidy?

Great book to read at the beach or by the pool. If you don't come away wanting to do something more with your life then you didn't read the whole thing.

Awful
Kathie Lee is a sweat shop quee

There's an original gem hidden here
Most of the stories are trite, except for the highly imaginative and quick-witted "The Day Before the Night Before Christmas." It's worth the price to have this special soon-to-be classic in your children's library. Author James Shock captures the spirit of the season with humor and warmth. A must read for children of all ages.

James Shock's Santa Claus poem is a new holiday classic
James Shock's Santa Claus poem is what makes the purchase worthwhile. I hope to see it published somewhere else, and I'd love to see more of his stuff. Someone should publish a collection of his work. Keep it up!

Unintentionally Hilarious
Poor Kathie Lee. Her book is designed to show us that she is such a sweet kind loving attentive mother. If you read the book with any degree of attention, you will see that she is a very disturbed woman, and that dear little Cody is well on his way to serial-killerdom.

heartwarming
Kathie Lee seems to be a very involved mother. She is not afraid to discuss Cody's bowel functions in detail. Everything about Cody is cute. Every detail. A must have book!

Waste of money
This is a silly, cheap attempt to make money. The jokes are lame and predictable, and the book is nothing but filler. Don't waste your time.

This selection is not worthy
Why would anyone want to waste their time on this book? First of all, if you don't like Kathie Lee, then why bother. Second, just because Kathie Lee has a successful career and a good life does not mean that everyone should be trying to pull her down. This writer needs to find something else to write about!

This Book Rocked My World
I thought this was an uproar! It was hilarious! A must read for fellow Kathie Lee haters!
