Diana Garcia Explodes into the Millennium
Just a few words: Diana Garcia's collection is a rare mix of literary power, hard-won truths, wimin's realities and soulful flames come burnin' out of the page into our consciousness. I haven't seen a book with these valencies since Lorna Dee Cervantes' break-through Emplumada! And she reminds us --without bombast -- about this earth, its workers, its campesino childhoods, hungers and shames and incandescent liberations. Diana Garcia has lived many lives, for many lives -- and now it is her life-lines we can hold, for a moment at least, as "birds of paradise/against a gold-lit world." Gracias, Diana.

Wow.
This debut book of poems is a wonder, and was written by someone whose wise voice should have been heard a long time before now. Diana Garcia is the daughter of Mexican migrant workers in California's San Joaquin Valley, the granddaughter of a curandera, the mother of a son who migrates on hiw own to Kansas, and the wife of a man who toasts her with kind glances. And there are other close relations, a nest within which Garcia illuminates difficulty and endurance, the extraordinary in the everyday, and the persistence of love.

The book is divided into several sections, among them memoroes of living in labor camps, evocative poems in several voices honoring the lives of apparently ordinary women, startling poems on the matter of racism, and warm poems about her relations to intimates. The book involves a number of poetric styles, and this variety hones the reader's attention to this one poet who writes what she knows into the profound.

Delightful
Julia Huerta literally dropped out of the sky into Tony Carrera's life. Julia, a physician, is flying back to Tucson, Arizona, after a weekend working at a clinic in a rural section of the state. A storm causes her to make an emergency landing near a ranch, and the man who answers the door is not happy about a stranger on his property. Nevertheless, he invites her in from the storm and gives her shelter. Who is this beautiful dark, curly-haired stranger, and can she be trusted? Tony's suspicious nature is understandable. He is renowned singer Antonio Carrera. Despite his being out of the public eye for several years, he is afraid of losing the privacy he has established with his two teen-age children on the sprawling ranch he owns. He is thankful Julia does not recognize him and is mesmerized by her laughter and genuine nature. This story incorporates a sense of community with descriptive scenery and sizzling electricity between the protagonists. This is a delightful addition to the Encanto line.

Warm and Wonderful!
Diana Garcia has written another great romance. I finished STARDUST in one sitting and felt a twinge of regret when it was done. I wanted it to go on and on. Her heroine, Julia, was sweet, intelligent and vulnerable. Her hero, Danny, was handsome, sexy as all get out and exactly what every woman wants--a guy with a little bit of a mystery about him Ms. Garcia has the ability to pull the reader into her story with deft strokes on the writing canvas. I could see, hear and smell the stark landscape of Arizona. I felt the loneliness of an isolated ranch. It was the perfect setting for these two lovers to meet and explore their relationship. Don't miss this story! It's a delightful read!

A Keeper!
Dr. Julia Huerta left the clinic late and found herself flying in a storm. She made an emergency landing on a muddy runway and headed toward the lone ranch house in hopes of warmth and a phone. She never recognized the man who answered the door.

Retired and reclusive country singer Antonio Carrera thought the reporters had found him again and dreaded pulling up the roots of his teenage son and daughter again. When he found out Julia really was who she claimed to be, he calmed down and actually became friendly. The two were attracted to each other from the start and Julia stayed many hours longer than expected. But she eventually had to return to her practice in Phoenix.

The way Julia found out who Tony really was came about like a punch in the gut! It would take some fast talking and sneaky strategy from Tony's two teens to bring this perfect couple together!

A refreshing new type of twist in Romance! Brava Diana Garcia! This one is "A Keeper" for your shelves to read and reread in the future! I figured out that I was hooked from the first sentence when I tried to go cook dinner, only to find out that my eyes had a mind of their own. I could not stop reading! Excellent story!

Who wouldn't love Brian??
I was in love with this hero by page 20. He was humorous and tender and thoughful and a hunk to boot. Where has he been all my life?

Help Wanted
Diana Garcia displays a comic touch in this light, fun tale of a second chance at love. Rosa Osario wants to hire a housekeeper so that her two sons can be home over the summer while she works. There is no good candidate--until Brian Torres. Rosa never expected a man to respond to her ad and certainly not such a devastatingly attractive man. Brian also comes with three-year-old Gracie, his daughter. Gracie fits right in with the family, and Rosa feels that Brian fits, too. But she fears dating an employee. She is afraid that the kids will be hurt when he leaves. She fears that she will be hurt, too. But what if he doesn't want to leave? Diana Garcia has a gift for sprinkling comic scenes in among the tender ones, as Brian fights to break down the walls of his lady fair.

What a great book!
I completely agree with the other great reviews. This is one book not to miss! The hero is to die for and I loved the ending. I'm going looking for more Encantos.
