Claude the Dog
I will definitely rate the book "Claude the Dog" with five stars. It is the best kids book I have ever read. Not only does it teach a lot in this book about certain things, it also is just a great book to read over and over again and it doesn't get old at all. It is the perfect book for any young kid. it is about a dog named Claude who has a little boy as a master and about another real cute dog. Well the other dog doesn't have a master so he has to sit outside and freeze all winter with no friends except for Claude. For Christmas Claude gets a dog toy and a blanket. Claude sees his friend out side all cold, so he goes outside and gives his friend his blanket and his toy because his friend is lonely and doesn't have anything to keep him warm or to play with. His friend felt bad because he was taking all of Claude's Christmas gifts. But Claude said my best gift is sitting back at home. He was referring to the little boy. I think the story teaches kids that it is a very good thing to share with others. And that if you share it is possible for you and the other person to still be happy with what you have. Yes, I would definitely recommend this book to everyone and if you don't have it, you should run out and go buy it! And if the sharing thing wont get you to like it, the cute pictures of the dogs definitely will!
Favorite childhood christmas book......
this is such a happy book, lots of sharing, and two cute puppies
I LOVE THIS BOOK!
My mom first read this book to me when I was three (25 years ago), and it has been my favorite Christmas story ever since. The message is simple and sweet, the illustrations are charming, and it appeals to all ages.

Little Bug
This is one of my favorite childrens books. Little Bug expresses his fear but then discovers the joys of life are greater than the risks. There are alot of adults that need to read Little Bug. I hope they reprint it.
Inspirational
This is a great story to read to a child who is afraid of something. It tells about a little bug who lives in a "dark and dreary hole" and he never leaves the hole because of his fears. A voice tell him that he should try to see the world. He does and is so much happier.

I laughed out loud!
This is one book I loved reading to my children, over and over. I laughed out loud each time. There are two separate stories in the book. In "Hamburgers, Hamburgers" Tom turns his little furry nose up at Mother's suggestion that spring is the time to eat dandelions. He wants a hamburger "with onions and ketchup and pickles on a poppy-seed roll." Mother Rabbit wishes she had a nickel for every pickle Tom eats, and says his head is full of ketchup. I can't help myself; I giggle. It's an adorable story with an ending your kids will love. In "Tom's Pet" our friend Tom tries to bring home several different pets, only to be told by Mother that he cannot keep them. Cute ending to this one, too.
Great Book, Sure to be a Favorite
I grew up making my grandmother read this book to me over and over again. Tom's desire for a hamburger with "onions and ketchup and pickles on a poppy-seed roll" is equal to many desires of all children.

Appeals to the inventive mind
My son adored this book when I read it to him when he was 4 to 6 and he continued to ask for it as he was learning to read it himself. Always making up his own fanciful inventions with household stuff and junk, he really related to the subject and felt validated by his obsession with inventing (now developing into love science fiction). He also delighted in the identity switches, which encourages young minds to imagine beyond their direct experiences and helps develp empathy and tolerance of differences in others.

Exactly right!
For the past two years the Montessori preschool where I am a volunteer has placed this book on display in October. What a wonderful book for 4-year-olds! The illustrations are a pleasure and add their own content to the story. It happens that the families are Afro-American, and an adult reader might conclude that Tommy is being raised by a single parent, but neither of these circumstances is central to the book, which is about adults looking after their children in matter-of-fact, but nurturing ways. You can't finish this without a smile, and you'll not object to reading it aloud as often as a young child would consider necessary.

A great book that will make you laph in the end.
The book Hattie be quiet, Hattie be good by Dick Gackenbach is a great book that i enjoyed. In this book the character named Hattie was trying to do something for her mom and realized somethings were to hard so she decided to do what her mom always told her to do. To sit down and be quite for an hour, so hattie did just that and when she was done she ran upstairs and was makin noise then her mom, not realizing why Hattie was sitting for an hour, said hattie sit down and be quite for an hour.

A classic for me
My mom bought the I Can Read books for me when I was in Kinder, I'm 26 now and this is the one that I held on to all this time. I loved it from the first day I read it. The story is perfect for Easter time and is set up like a little play. Great for a kid's imagination, especially if they act out the play with other siblings or friends.

Kids love it!
I help second graders who are just learning to read. They love this story, and even the kids who are just learning English, enjoy this story and quickly learn how to pronounce "whatzit".
A Family Favorite
I remember getting this book when I was in first or second grade in the 70's. I still own the same book today. It has been read many, many times by myself and my family. This story has become my sons favorite as well. I look forward to buying another one to retire this one to the shelf, as it has told it's story for over 20 years.
Beloved childhood book
I loved this book as a child so much that I still remember the title and the story. I bought it for my 3-year-old and now she loves it. It makes her feel empowered to get rid of her own "monsters."
