This book tells the sad story of a young girl forced from her home who wanders in search of someone to help her. After being forced on by many people and creatures, she finally finds a "fool" who will help her. This book helps children sympathize with those who are forced from their homes. It is especially helpful in helping children understand about the lives of refugees and how important it is to find ways to help refugees. The colorful illustrations are especially appealing.

This book allowed my son to read and write his own report for school on how rubber is made. The illustrations and text provided the information in a simplified manner (as opposed to the encyclopedia). I would recommend it for grades K-3. It allowed him to work independently and we have since donated it to the school library.

This is an excellent book for a kindergarten class using the Smithsonian Science Kit "Wood". The illustrations are clear and colorful. The text takes the reader from the tree in the forest to the finished piece of furniture using language appropriate for the young child.
