I think discovering God's will is one of the most difficult tasks any Christian must experience, and there are always doubts whether or not we are in the "center" of this "nailing jello to the wall" will. This book might just change the way you view the way we can follow God in a godly manner. Friesen takes a view that God sometimes gives freedom in decisions. We might be given several possibilities, both of which God can work in our lives. He does not force the issue, but through circumstances and other criteria, we can make wise, biblical decisions and realize that we have made godly decisions.

This book has been a great help in my life, as I am a Type A personality who too often tries to figure out every nuance of God and the way He works. Forget it, it just can't be done. By changing my persepective, it has helped me to be more free so that I can experience God completely and have the abundant life as so promised by Christ Himself. If nothing else, the book will make you think through your preconceived notions.

I found the viewpoint presented in this book, "the way of wisdom," to be very liberating. Friesen does a great job presenting and critiquing the traditional view of God's will (which many, if not most, Christians hold) and follows it up with a perspective that will change your life, for the better! His practical application section is well-done and highly applicable, though a bit too conservative in the area of ordination (i.e. Friesen believes only men should be ordained). Overall, an excellent book and resource. A must-read for any Christian -- especially for those daring to be challenged about God's individual call in one's life.

I first read this book almost 15 years ago and it has been a great inspiration to me for that many years. I can't tell you how many times I have recommended it to others who wrestle with this question. I would estimate that it is in my top 10 books that I have ever read. Not because of it's theological power but because it meshes fine biblical exegesis with practical insights for decision making. It gives the reader a genuine sense of freedom and liberty to prayerfully consider life choices without guilt of 2nd guessing or dealing with the haunting question "Am I in the "center" of God's will." He provides sound insights on how one can go through the process of wise decision making within a biblical gridwork. He helps people walk through all of the decisions that one will encounter as it relates to a biblical Christian; career, marriage, giving, just to name a few. If you have ever wrestled with this issue it will be the best $(....) that you could spend! It has been for me!!
