The emphasis is techniques
This book was espacially for engineers not for mathematicist. The author tell us that the emphasis is not on the abstract theory but on the techniques which can be derived from theory to solve specific problems. If you are interested in the theory of linear space and so on. I advise you not read this book. But if you need some knowledge and methods to improve engineering application. It's a good choice.

great discussion on delta function
it's such a small book yet has the best discussion on delta function and spectral presentation i've seen.

it's strange that one reviewer mentions it's not for mathematician but it's a good engineering book for applications. My impression is just the opposite even it does not contain a lot of rigorous proofs.

I think for an average engineer who just wants to applications, this book is a poor choice, cause real-life data are almost always discrete and finite yet this book always use continuous functions as examples. but that is not what it is for. There are other engineering books better for these purposes.

This book is for anyone (physicist, applied mathematician or engineer) who has a passing knowledge of eigenfunction & linear operators, and who wants to know more in-depth underlying math.

A wonderful starpoint for urban studies!
Here we have a very interesting investigation about the stories of the american cities and specially its downtowns, how they have growned, its shinning past and its following falldown. We can learn about very brilliant redevelopment projects that are intending to rebuild and to regain once again progress and live to some parts of the modern cities that have been in a great depression since long decades of desinvestments. It is very important to take in accounts the stories very well written by the authors about how the joining between public and privates forces is the only way to rebulit american ( and everywhere) abandoned downtowns!

Good review of Jackson Pollock's work, but not personal enou
This book is a thorough review of Jackson Pollock's work and his professional life; however I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more indepth reporting of his personal life. HIs relationship with his wife, parents and brothers would have made for a more insightful view of the artist as a man.
