You couldn't GIVE it enough stars!!! Loved this book!!!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? It's a wonderful little snapshot of life in Ithaca, CA, as told through the lives of those who live there. But what I loved most about it were two things. One, other than the dramatic moments when a war dept. telegram was read, this book did not have that sort of overly (and phony) theatrical feel that other authors feel they must provide whenever they deal with similar subjects. Instead, Saroyan gave the majority of attention to the mundane, ordinary routines of life and showed how people truly LIVED in times of great distress. Two, I loved the synchroncity of events in certain parts of the book. In one scene, at the EXACT MOMENT that Homer is taking off on his bicycle to pick up messages, Marcus and his friend Tobey are on a passenger train taking off for their own mission. Pitiful example, I know, but read this book and you'll know what I'm talking about!

The best book I read when I was a teenager.
I read this book when I was 14 (it was ten years ago), and I thought it was fantastic! The story is about a boy who, during Second World War, has to deliver telegrams in his little town Ithaca. The boy's name is Homer, and his city is the ficcional Ithaca, which takes us to a new Homer's Odissey, in which Ulysses is his younger lovely brother. I confess the story is absolutely naive and old-fashioned, but some of the characters are full of a sympathetic feeling of love and compassion.

I have read it twice, and I love it.
I read this book for the first time when I was about 11, and I loved it just as much as I love it now after reading it again. I love the way Saroyan uses such simple words, yet the point comes across so strongly. This book was extremely powerful, and I would recommend it to any one starting at age 10 to however long you live. I think that although some people call this book "naive", it is far from it. In fact, I think it's the opposite. It's the fact that Saroyan can express everything so simply that makes this such a wonderful book.

Mr. Garden's Interpretation of the Human Body
This is a pleasing book for all of you with consciences. Personally, it kind of bugged ME. OK, well first of all, let me introduce myself. I am Mr. Garden, a hobo who lives in Iowa. I live in a barn, and this is the one book that is in my possession at this moment. But, I was just thinking, why would someone write words that don't even mean?

My Name Is Aram
I am a high school student, and we read an excerpt from this book in our literature class. I immediately was intrigued by Saroyan's method of writing and the fact that his novels are autobiographical. This is a story of Aram Garoghlanian, a boy living in Fresno with his large family of Armenian immigrants. Throughout the book, such ideas are touched upon as maturity, honesty, and acceptance. My Name is Aram is a portrait not only of Aram Garoghlanian and William Saroyan himself, but Americans in general. Americans struggle with basic values and ideas everyday, and accepting our eccentric family members is something we learn to do. Saroyan describes small details in hi writing that bring the story to life and open up a new world. Readers will soon realize when they open this novel that each of us holds Aram inside us, whether it means we struggle with the idea of stealing a horse or keeping the families reputation. I strongly recommend this book to anyone.

I recommend this book for the people who like reading book
At first when I read the first page,I thought that it is a very good book for everybody. After I read all of them, Iam filled with admiration. It tell us "THE LIFE OF AN ARMENIAN FAMILY IN THE BEAUTIFUL SAN JUAQUIN VALLEY". It is a very fun and easy book to read.

Bit too simple
A bit too simplistic for the HS physics student. This book, instead, seems more aimed towards pre-HS students seeking a healthy head-start on physics concepts w/o being innundated w/ physics problem sets or mathematical equations and confusion. A small glimpse of the concept w/ emphasis on practical applications clearly present physics in a earnest manner to readers. Serves home-schooled students extremely well.

Very Informative and Comprehensive
I read this book this summer to prepare for a high-school physics course. Let me tell you- I'm sure I'll do much better now thanks to Physics Made Simple than I would had I not read it. The text is for the most part, clear and consise. Although quite confusing at times (the concept of torque could have been explained better, and vectors ,especially Velocity baffled me from time to time, there's nothing that couldn't be cleared up with a little chat with a teacher. I now have a much greater understanding of my world (especially electronics). The examples given are good, and some of the problems are really challenging. Its an easy read, with no real preassumptions that you know anything. In some parts of the book, the concepts are a little too simple, such as force resultants, where a little preassumtion of geometry and trig would really help to make things simpler. Still, the book is very neat and overally consise. My last complaint is that no modern physics are discussed. I didn't hear anything mentioned about Special and General Relativity, or Space Time, or Thermodynamics, and thats really the juicy stuff. A good, solid read in the end though..
