The definitive hermit crab book.
Detailed enough to satisfy my curiosity, yet covers the basics (thoroughly!) in an easy-to-understand manner that has my 8 year old excitedly flipping through the pages and reading whole paragraphs aloud to me. We browsed a lot of websites and bookstores prior to ordering Hermit Crabs: Complete Pet Owner's Manual and nothing comes close to this one slim volume of info. Well-written and logically organized; beautiful photographs.

Land Hermit Crabs
This is definitely the top book I would recommend for any hermit crab owner. It presents the most up-to-date information, both on pet care and on land hermit crab behavior in the wild. It makes a pleasant read, well written and with wonderful photographs. Another good feature is a list of references and companies specializing in hermit crabs.

EXCELLENT ADDITION FOR CRAB CARE BOOKS....
Donald L. Drenning (kritterlandusa@yahoo.com), a 'Crabber' of 3 years...aka 'CLD, February 11, 2000, Long OVERDUE Publication... Sue Fox has delivered a 'crown jewel' to the world of 'Crabbing'. This book is filled with excellent pictures and information for those interested in Gods little creatures, the Hermit Crab. The book is written so that people can read and understand crab care without having to go to a dictionary to look up every other word. It is concise and well organized. One of the best books on Hermit Crabs I have come across in some time. This book fills a void of several years, with the lack of good current information about the Land Hermit Crab. Her inclusion of the popular Compressus species (aka 'Ecuadorian') was most welcomed! I highly recommend this fine publication to anyone interested in Hermit Crabs.

Not a legal self-help book
The strength of this book, its detailed coverage of the legal process, is spoiled by the implied control (see title) and "successful conclusion" (see introducton). The legal system is a game of chance with much beyond the control of the average person (easy examples: the judge and jury). The odds are improved by money which you probably don't have if you're reading this book. A contingency arrangement is unlikely judging by the book's content devoted to paying a lawyer. The odds are also improved by finding a lawyer who will pursue a case with a vengeance, also unlikely given this book's cautions and the fact that lawyers without contingencies get paid regardless of outcome. This book is one source of information to help you decide whether to get involved in a legal matter; counter to its title, it actually advises against legal action. If the choice is not yours, you may be looking for referrals and pointers from your financial advisor and other individuals who have been through court.

Follow-up Post
I reviewed this book in June and I feel just as strongly about this book NOW as I did then. In fact, were it not for the helpful information contained in this book, I would not have had the knowledge nor the motivation needed to pursue my lawsuit.

Thanks to the information contained in this book, I have successfully filed a strong civil complaint with damages exceeding [ten] million.

I was able to find a lawyer to take my case on a contingency arrangement that included a nominal retainer fee and a requirement that I cover all court costs.

I cannot imagine my case will actually go to trial, as the evidence against the defendent is quite overwhelming; however, thanks to the knowledge contained in this book, I am confident that I have taken every conceivable means possible to adequately prepare to defend my rights!

If you have been harmed due to someone else' negligence and/or malice, I highly recommend that you purchase this book. It will show you exactly how to defend your rights in a U.S. Court of Law.

Required reading for all 1st time Plaintiffs (or Defendants)
I am a first time Plaintiff with a strong civil action that has a high probability of success. Nevertheless, because of the negative connotation attached to "filing a lawsuit", I seriously considered not taking legal action. Thank God I found this book!

If you have been unfairly attacked and/or injured by someone, you are compounding the injury by not taking action to repair the damage. To illustrate, imagine breaking your arm; and deciding not to get a cast, because of the negative connotation attached to "wearing a cast". That would be ludicrous!

If you have been harmed due to someone's negligence and/or malice, you are entitled and maybe even obligated to protect your best interest. Filing a legitimate lawsuit does not make you "opportunistic" or "vindictive"; just like wearing a cast to repair a broken arm, does not make you "opportunistic" or "vindictive", it makes you INTELLIGENT! My grandaddy always told me to "BE INTELLIGENT".

This book shows you the INTELLIGENT way to represent your legitimate interests in a U.S. court of law. Read it, and then by all means... SUE ...

Insightful and fun to read -- don't miss this one
I've always been a little skeptical of the Dummies books but when I received Etiquette for Dummies as a gift I couldn't help but get caught up in it immediately. The author takes a refreshing look at how we all get along in society (the good, the bad AND the ugly!) and gives us insightful yet friendly advice on communicating better with each other on a daily basis. This is a must read for everyone, even if you think your etiquette is already up to snuff.

The Best Gift
This book is great! I was given a copy as a gift - I had never read a "Dummies" book and wasn't sure what it was all about. After reading it, I gave copies of it to all five of my children, age 19 - 27, for Christmas. The information is timely, appropriate, and presented in a "non-preachy" manner. Anyone who meets with clients, has interviews or wants to feel comfortable in social situations needs to read "Etiquette for Dummies".

Excellent reference volume
I found this book both a useful tool and an easy read.

I originally purchased this book to resolve some light hearted family disagreements regarding such items as; the correct "title" of a married woman in the 21st century or the correct method of setting the formal table for Thanksgiving dinner. I ended up reading the book cover to cover. The author has done an excellent job of making this potentially dry topic, fun and enjoyable.

I particularly enjoyed the chapters on etiquette as it relates to new technology such as; cell phones, call waiting, and e-mail. None of these things were around when I originally learned "Manners 101". It was useful to review the "do's and don'ts" of modern technology.

An excellent purchase and I would recommend it to others.

ITS MY FAVORITE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE BEANIE BABIE HANDBOOK HAS HELPED ME COLLECT. IT IS VERY BEAUTIFUL. THANKS TO IT, I NOW OWN 4 RETIRED BEANIES IN MINT CONDITION. THOSE NUTTY BEANIE TIPS WERE FUNNY. I AM NOW A BEANIE EXPERT AND DRIVE MY MOM CRAZY WITH IMFORMATION ABOUT BEANIE BABIES. LES AND SUE FOX ARE 2 GREAT PEOPLE.

The Beanie Handbook is good for new to medium collectors.
My dad went to Chicago and got this book for me. I was a beginner in the world of Beanie Babies and the book really told me a lot about the beanies. It gave a small, but very interesting, view of each beanie, past and future. The beginning of the book gave an interesting account on the original creation and start of Ty Inc. My favorite part was the pictures, I never knew there were so many Beanie Babies! Thanks to this book, I've been introdued to the wonderful world of Beanie Baby collecting.

I loved the book!!!!
Alot of people I know liked this book, and I do too. I have the 1997 and 1998 edition, and they were great! How can people not like it? I do agree, the retirements were way off, but I still enjoyed reading it! There is no reason for people to critizize the book because I would like to see them write their own book THEIR way! LOL! I love beanie babies, Me and my friends have been collecting for a long time. They are just so cute and adorable, you just fall in love with them! I can't wait for The fall 1998 edition to come out. It will have the new beanies in it and the newely retireds!!! I will definately love this book too!

Very interesting, but too short.
Published in England. Nicely done. Lots of illustrations. Text is very interesting. The only problem is: it is too short. You can read it completely in under 10 minutes. They should have included more kings and queens and more detail on the ones they did include. Its billed as being a children's book, but the names of some of the kings and queens were difficult for me and I have a master's degree.
