A corner Stone
I can not say enough about this book. I have had several copies over the last 30 years. Everytime I return to it, a new layer of knowledge is revealed. I keep a copy at work so that I can meditate on the Keys. The effects of these mediations are profound. This is the good stuff, that has stood the test of time, and comparison to other methods.

One of the most important works on the tarot.
This book is one of the most serious studies on the sybolism of the major arana as designed by Paul Foster Case otherwise known as the BOTA deck, and is quite simular to the Rider- Waite deck, which in my opinion are two of the best decks to start out with. It lays an essential foundation for anyone who seriously wishes to use the tarot for spiritual growth and divination.

Review Title
The definitive work on the occult Tarot of the Western Hermetic Tradition.

Includes astrological, numerological, colour, Hebrew letter, and musical, correspondences.

Deals mainly with the Major Arcana, and although divination is covered, it is not the book's main emphasis.

I've never read a book so full of erudition, wisdom, practical advice, and clear, concise explanation. My copy goes with me wherever I go.

An Excellent Book

...This book is mediations on the 22 paths of the Tree ofLife from the Qabbala as represented by the 22 Tarot trumps. Itincludes very nice full color plates of the tarot trumps. Eachmeditation is usually about 3 pages long followed by 2 pages ofcommentary.

This book I think is unlikely to appeal to anyone whodoesn't already have at least a basic understanding of the Qabbala andthe Tarot (ie can you draw the tree of life and do you have the tarotattributions for the most part memorized) but is likely to be enjoyedby those who do.

Second verse from the meditation on Tsaddi (thestar):

Men think they seek me, But it is I who seek them, No otherseeker is there then myself, And when I find mine own, The pain ofquestioning is at an end. The fish graspeth the hook, Thinking tofind food, But the fisherman is the enjoyer of the meal.

First versefrom the mediation on Samekh (temperance):

I AM the support of allthat enter into existence. Upon me all depend. And I fail not. Thishave I declared unto thee in various ways, But listen now to my wordsagain.

Each mediatation is at least several verses long. Here is thebeginning of the commentary on Samekh:

SAMEKH, pronouncedsawmek. Transcribed as "S". The number 60. Meaning: Prop,Support. The Intelligence of Probation or Trial.

The commentary foreach path begins like this and then is followed by specific commentaryon some of the verses from the meditation.

An excellentbook. Recommended for any serious student.

To allow this book out of print is a sin against humanity.
In this simple piece of work the human mind can grasp if not cultivate immortality.

an extraordinary and beautiful book
These meditations on the tarot, are like looking into a deep and still pool, the whole sky is in there. Profoundly resonant.

A tour de force
This is really two books in one--an explication of the Rosicrucian manifestoes of the early 17th century & Case's baroque yet unbelievably inspiring & lucid philosophy of what he calls "Chirstian Hermeticism", based on the Tarot & Kabalah as put forth in the Builders of the Adytum teachings, of which Case was the founder.

The extremely detailed & painstakingly researched explication of the Rosicrucian manifestoes is amazing, both for it's unabashed opinions (A.E. Waite takes it on the chin a time or two)& the sheer force of intellect put forth.

For those who find it hard to take Crowley's somewhat loose style, Case is the "anti-Crowley." A familiarity with the Builders of the Adytum teachings is very helpful with the latter part of the book....

One of the best in the genre.
I have simply not come across a better book about the theory behind the Western Mystery Tradition. Case tells really all there is to tell about the reality of the Rosicrucian movement in this monumental work. He bursts several myths about what Rosicrucians are (and aren't), and gives meditations and techniques for beginning the path yourself. The work can be very heady and difficult to read - there's just so much there - but it is definitely worth the read if you feel a calling to know more about this spiritual tradition. If you want rituals and construction diagrams for your own lodge, look to Regardie's books. This book is for those who wish to deepen their understanding of the tradition itself.

A wonderful book
Quite simply one of the greatest books I have ever read. Case writes on the subject with masterly ease and gives an amazing amount of information.

Sometimes you read a book and you know you are reading a great book; this is the feeling I had when I first read it a number of years ago.

This is an all time classic for anyone who is studying in the Western Mystery Tradition

Hilarious tales of Merry Prankster Paul Foster.
Ex-Merry Prankster Paul Foster has written a crafty and penetrating tale of his life in the Sixties counter-culture alongside his friends and cohorts Ken Kesey, Jerry Garcia Wavy Gravy and others. Mr. Foster has also illustrated this fascinating book with his inimitable "speed freak" drawings, seen previously in the Ken Kesey book "Garage Sale". The stories related here are at once illuminating and cautionary, and those times viewed with good humor and a clear and penetrating eye for detail. Kudos for a job well done and a plea added for a second volume.

Praise God !
Written by true men of God, this book not only dispels myths concerning its subject matter but also proclaims, through Scripture and modern day accounts, the unique power and authority bestowed upon us to the Glory of our Precious Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus. If you are a true child of God, I highly recommend the purchase of this book...it's all very real...and you may be "astounded". Praise God!

Builders of the Adytum: Tarot

Superb B&W line drawings for hand coloring!
The official BOTA deck is too good to be true! The Case-Parkerendition is cleaner, with less cross-hatching, to facilitate easierhand coloring. I used colored pencils to color my deck, and I am very well pleased with the results, which resemble stained glass in their vivid brilliance and intensity. There is perhaps no better way to ingrain the imagery of the Tarot into one's subconscious mind than to color each card oneself. The personal energy and intent which goes into the creation of one's own unique deck makes for a very powerful and Magickal Tarot indeed! I would heartily recommend this deck to anyone who is serious about learning the Qabalistic symbology of the Tarot as a method of the Western Esoteric Traditions.

Great for all lovers of poetry or dragons!
I'm an adult but I collect children's books. Why? Because of books like this one. I love any collection of poetry of a theme, and this one is wonderful. I love poems, I love dragons, I love this book! I'm going to get several of them for Christmas gifts for both children and adults. The choice of poems is unbelievable. Who knew there were so many poems about dragons? And the illustrations are so cute, so funny, so amazing. The artist is some magical person who is a gift to our planet!

Great Seal of the United States
Published in Paperback by Builders of Adytum Ltd (1976)
Author: Paul Foster Case
Amazon base price: $6.00

A Country Born of the Freemasons
A short yet involved essay on the meaning and symbols of the United States Great Seal, best known on the back of the dollar bills. These symbols are more than coicidence and have little to do with Americana and more to do with A New World Order. 13 being the magic number in Paul Foster Cases essay in which he defines, by gementria and the Hrebraic numerology system which demonstrates the origins and Masonic influence of the founding fathers of our country. Deeply imformative, unless you know the Kabbalah well enough, one will have to slow down to take every thing in. Highly reccomended for students of the occult and Freemasonry.
