Anyone with an interest in the French language or Louisiana's unique Cajun culture and wildlife would appreciate the adventures of Clovis the Crawfish. This story centers on Batiste the skunk who is teased by the other wetland animals because of his stinkiness. The story teaches the powerful lesson of tolerance and the appreciation of other's differences. At the nature center, I use this book as part of my nature education program for preschool through 1st grade children. Following the reading, the children "play opossum". We then hike a short trail where the children look for the items that the little opossum found on his walk through the swamp. The story holds the children spellbound. And, they remember all of the items and animals mentioned in the story. The illustrations are simple and easily seen by a large group. Many of the teachers have asked where they can purchase this book, but the children's reaction really speaks for itself!

I was really excited to be able to share this book with my daughter. I grew up in southwestern Louisiana and this delight book brought back alot of memories. The story line was attention grabing and the pictures are beautiful! Mrs. Fontenot has been a fantastic children's author for many years and she just keeps getting better!! We look forward to enjoying many more hours of fun with her books.

I think the story is lite and cute and can give children an introduction into some french words and phrases. My daughter enjoys it as a bed time story.

I came across this series by complete chance when looking for audiocassettes to take on a long plane journey for my 3 year old. Visiting France, it was an obvious choice, as the words introduce the child to French, but it's good for children anywhere to learn about other languages or accents. The stories are simple, charming and quite educational about the habits of these creatures. They are really fun to read with all the different voice possibilities. Highly-recommended. I bought several of the books over the internet as a result, as it seems bookstores don't stock them - or even know about them.

Clovis and his friends save the day once again by helping Etienne the snail save her eggs. I loved the Clovis series as a little girl growing up in rural Louisiana, and now I enjoy the books for their colorful description of Cajun life. The story is good for children- an example of kindness and working together to help one another .

I was introduced to Clovis by my husband,who's family read the Clovis collection to him as a child. What a wonderful way to learn about life in the bayou. Told in a cajun accent, this book is great for children and adults alike.
