This is an OK review of the "politically correct" view as to evolution and the origin of life. We are presented with a variety of scenarios (all unbelievable) that life just miraculously sprang into action following the random mixing or an organic soup or the conversion of RNA into DNA, etc., and so on. Unfortunately, there is no meaningful discussion of any of the alternate points of view which are much more believable, i.e. life is extraterrestrial in origin and "that the universe is awash with life," as detailed, for example, in another text on Astrobiology. The discussion of evolution and Darwin is also on the level of the politically correct. Although there is a growing body of genetic evidence that does not support Darwin's theory, and a growing number of scientists who reject Darwinism, there is no discussion of these points of view, as if Darwin were some type of diety that should never been challenged. This could have been a great book, especially if they would have dared to discuss the true implications of astrobiology and what this exciting field has to offer and may come to show, but instead we get the same old: Been there, done that...
