Up close and personal with Les Paul, John Lennon and more
Chet Flippo is an excellent writer--I am not a musician, but I found his interviews with Les Paul and Chet Atkins fascinating. You will learn much about the history of the electric guitar. You will also find some lesser known chapters in rock history--an insider's glimpse of the Rolling Stone's efforts to win permission to tour China, what it was like to hang out with John Lennon, life with Jerry Lee Lewis and more.

If you never been there that book will take you in!
Beautiful pictures, truly great text full of interesting
citations and quotes that book his definitely the best
about the house Elvis presley live in; Graceland.
Sure, a beautiful mansion but with also an history "hors
du commun"!
If your wish is to visit Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee
and you just can't that book is for you. You can trust me
'cause I've been there and it's simply amazing at how
the images reflect all the appartments with the real
dimensions, maybe it's more interesting then the tour
himself because that show you from impossible angle how
Elvis could see his home.
It's a big book, very well illustrated, rich in words and
descriptions, the one of a kind "Graceland Dictionnary".
I'm sure that this book would still remain a treasure in his
own subject!
Look at Graceland by theses pages, you won't believe it!

"Based on" a true story
Too much speculation and dramatic detail of conjectured events. The Escott book is MUCH better.
A gritty, non-flattering look at the life of this pioneer
An almost pathetic view of a country "super-star," and his reliance to alcohol, narcotics, and women. A picture of an illierate "hill-billy" and his tyranic first wife. Hiram Williams was a man of great talent and personal appeal who let his life spin out of control, resulting in his death at the age of 29.

Unadventures With The Stones
There's a reason why this book is out of print. The autor is on the road with one of the world's most exciting bands (during their prime)and writes the most boring, un-exciting, whining account of the experience. This is good bedside reading on those nights when you need to get to sleep fast.
BAD? DON'T THINK SO
This is a great book giving you an insight on a lot you want to know if your one of those nosy fans. There is a lot of humor here too. Just a great book that give you a sense of what it's like being there with the band. Very intimate in a way. I like Chet Flippo... cool guy - If he wrote another Stones book, I would read it.

Beware
Suggestion.....if you are a McCartney or Beatles fan, do not buy this book. Had I not loved Paul and his music beforehand, I would hate him after reading this book. Chet Flippo is a Flippo. He trashes Paul completely, showing only his worst sides. Lots of it isn't true.
fair
Writers and journalists who have obvious scorn for their subject can't be objective. One again, another baised "McCartney hater" succumbs. Paul is tossed off as a lightweight and blamed for the Beatles breakup. Other than some interesting 60's passages, this is pretty much a waste of time.
Interesting read
I found this book to be a very interesting account of Paul's life, while he was a Beatle, and later as a Wing. Having never read a book previously about Paul, I found it quite fascinating, though hard core fans may find that it does trash Paul and Linda to some extent. All in all, though, I did enjoy it and would recommend it.
