Well-written and easy-read health and fitness book
I bought this book unseen after having read Brad Appleton's online book on stretching called "stretching and flexibility". Appleton highly recommends it. I understand why!!!!!!!!!! It combines every-day health topics like stress, motivation etc. in a (often but not always) sports-context. The book is though also recommended to people not interested in sports. Cooper has lots of scientific references (also for further reading) so his claims/suggestions/opinions are absolutely not "just personal meanings from somewhere". By my 9 years higher education (university) I must say I have NEVER written book so easy read and still so scientific as this one. It is a MASTERPIECE!!! You can use it as reference book or read from first page till last. I also consider it a whole life book. If you really know this book and takes the consequences of it you will be a better person. To others and yourself. And the price is a joke!!! I could easily have paid... for it!!

excellence of the synergy of health/nutrition/exercise
I have been reading books about health, nutrition, and exercise. This is the first book I have come across that deals in detail with all three topics individually, and also as a synergistic group. Plus all theories presented are published studies. For a complete overview of health, fitness and nutrition, this is a great book.

Henry Miller : a life

The best objective Henry Miller bigraphy out there!
Robert Ferguson has written a spectacular biography on legendary writer Henry Miller. Ferguson, unlike other Miller biographers (such as Mary Dearborne, Alfred Perles), relates the details of Miller's life & works without personal bias or an angle. Although a very tough task, Ferguson is able to distinguish reality as it happened from reality as reported by Henry Miller (which at times is filled with bald-faced lies, such as claiming to have met Emma Goldman although she was not allowed in the city when Miller claims to have met her) most of the time. While some fans of Miller will not like the work because it "spoils the mystique of a legend", others will, I'm sure, agree that this is a thorough, fair and accurate biography about a man who tried very hard to erase the tracks he made in life with all new marks created by semi-autobiographical romances. And dang good ones at that!

Alright but somewhat outdated
This book is a good introduction to the subject, but for some I would suggest buying newer books on similar subjects, which I will also list. This book covers such subjects as enchantments for money, how to command and control others (which I believe to be immoral, so advance with caution), how to know what is happened anywhere in the world, miracle healing, astral projection and more.

THE MIRACLES BOOK
My wife bought this book from a used book store for one dollar!! She didn't read it, but I did and my life has been changed since then. I treasure this book as my life.

An outstanding source for the psychically endowed
I use this book and it's parameters on a regular basis. I lost it for 3 years once and needed it on a daily basis. Forunately, I had recorded many of it's wisdoms previous to it's departure. I wouldn't live my life without it.

See past the lies...
Yes, it's been said, this game is like the X-Files, only it's not. This is much, much cooler. Character generation is easy enough, and there's a lot to work with. The rules, too, are fast and easy (with the possible exception of combat, which can crawl a bit). There is enough information here to keep a creative GM busy for an eternity, and if you add some of the sourcebooks (all exCellent, mind you), things just get better. Even if you're not a gamer, get this just to read about a very, very chilling world not unlike our own at all...

Bloody good show!
Imagine the X-Files crossed with big guns and you're just about there. This is a superb RPG with a very detailed and beleivable background. Characted generation is a little complex but you end up with exactly the character you were looking for. This main rule book has a wealth of information about weapons, technologies, alien races, supernatural, psychics and with regular source book releases there is plenty for a GM to work with. Combat is swift and deadly just as in real lifa and your characters will have to do some good thinking if they want to come out of adventures unscathed. This elimenates all the dungeon hack and shoot em up scenarios which plague most RPG's. You will love this game, I know I do.

Look at a tired topic from the other side.
I'll admit I was suspicious when my wife suggested this game: I mean, I like the X-files, but this had been done to death hadn't it? Coupled with cliched artwork... I sat back and almost challenged it: "Make me like this" And I loved it. The background is great, the world believable, but above all, it's all so very very easy. No huge rule lists, no super list of weapons, just pick and play. Character generation was a snap, and we were off into the world of AEGIS: Saving the world from threats it didn't need to know existed.

My only gripe was that the cell generation system seemed ridiculously complex... but that said, everyone else assured me it was prefectly sensible when you get yo know it. And I will do.

Attention: Managers, Supervisors, and Team Leaders!
Kelly and company hit the market in their new book "Master Team Leadership". Instead of offering the "do's and don'ts" so often prescribed in other management mantra, the authors help their readers examine thier own leadership issues in a series of cleverly crafted dialogues. The dialogues represent authentic interviews in a real life context between a manager and an executive coach. In these dialogues, the managers share issues while a coach listens in a consultory capacity.

These dialogues serve as models for anyone who is leading a team. Ask yourself: "Have you ever known that you are supposed to act as a coach in a particular situation, but not known how to really do that?" If so, the answer to that question and more on coaching is covered in this book.

Along with the dialogues are descriptions and examples of the behaviors that a good coach elicits during those difficult conversations with team members.

Moreover, the model illustrates an empowering leadership posture, a coaching-based approach towards leading a team, and the necessary skills associated with successful team leadership.

In an age where so many books are story based, this text helps readers to gain a concrete understanding of the fundamentals of coaching. The practical paperback would be ideal to accompany any workshops on training managers, supervisors or line employees on coaching behaviors or for any workshops with a coaching component.

Very helpful in improving my team leadership skills
The book is easy to read with practical and memorable examples, tips, personal development suggestions, and even cartoons! I will immediately implement many of the suggestions to improve my team leadership abilities, and I expect both my company and myself to greatly benefit from the wisdom in this how to manual. It's one of the best leadership/coaching books I've read.

A must-read for managers
Being an effective manager isn't easy, but this book touches on what may be the most important dimensions of managerial leadership. I particularly liked the clear, straightforward language. The book just tells it like it is. It's quite easy to read--even entertaining at times. Which is amazing, because the points it makes are so useful, so on-target. I'd recommend this book to anyone who serious about kicking their leadership skills up a notch.

Great book for administrators, but...
This is a great book if you need guidance in installing, configuring and maintaining your Sharepoint Portal Server, however it only touches very briefly on any development techniques involving the Sharepoint APIs and writing any of your own custom code.

Compared to the other books on the market that deal with Sharepoint Portal, this is by far the closest one to what a developer would need, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. I am still waiting for that great Sharepoint technical reference manual that's made especially for developers. So far, none found.

Great Resource
There are not many SharePoint books out there. Most of them are not that great. This is an excellent resource for SPS administrators or anybody planning a SharePoint deployment.

There are only about two chapters concerned with development for SharePoint, so if you are looking for API documentation, check out the SharePoint Resource Kit at http://www.microsoft.com/SharePoint

Colorful and Informative
This book caught my attention fast because it's yellow (hence the 'colorful' part of this review). I was looking for a better SPS book than the one I bought earlier this year. Anyway, like everyone seems to point out, this is about as good as you'll get - there's not a lot of developer details, but there's plenty of good reading. I'd recommend it to anyone planning a deployment - the examples and checklists, etc. are perfect in this regard. And the way the book is laid out makes sense - easy stuff up front, good detail the rest of the way.

Enigma: The Life of Knut Hamsun

not hungry
I wanted the writing here to be as great as Knut Hamsun's own Hunger--and of course, it simply can't be. I'm not at all sure that it's Ferguson's fault. I wanted to know what Hamsun's mindset was at the time of struggling through his masterpieces like Hunger and Pan and Victoria, I wanted to be able to get inside the great writer's mind...and it just can't be, because the author of this bio wasn't there. If you want psychological insights and great writing you must go to the source: Hamsun's own novels. Yes, you'll get dates and details here in Enigma, but that does not make for interesting and/or engaging reading. I was disappointed. The gifted, self-taught Knut Hamsun remains a favorite, though. One of the giants.

Put 2 And 2 Together People: Read This Book!
i bought this book. i read this book. i lost this book on a bus in one city. i saw someone reading this book in a different city months later. we discussed knut hamsun for 5ive hours. in another city i bought this book again. who among us could read hunger, pan, mysteries, victoria, dreamers and under the autumn star without wanting to know all we can about the author? this is as natural as stubbing your toe. if reading the afore mentioned books doesnt make you want to know everything about knut hamsun, you are defective. this should be against the law. like not dying of thirst when you refuse to drink water.

they call this book ENIGMA people. figure it out. they call it that because knut hamsun was an extremely intresting person composed of complex contradictions. and this book also gives a synopsis of every major work hamsun ever produced. something like that could very well be termed invaluable, couldnt it? it also is packed full of anecdotes from hamsuns life. but then again, what did you expect?

did you know that he was a nazi sympathiser? did you know that he found a fingernail in a graveyard when he was a child and was consequently tormented by a ghost for some time?

oh yeah, if you were worried about whether its "well written" or not, i can assure you that it is. but maybe ive presumed too much.
