Great self-help book for us messies.
I really liked this book. Very aptly describes the difference between a messie and a cleanie. As a textbook messie I no longer feel alone! Great ideas to help you overcome clutter.

"If Things Were Just Organized, I Could Keep It That Way!"
If you're looking for cleaning tips and helpful hints, flip to the "Time Saver" and "Super Solutions" sections throughout the entire book. If you want to totally revolutionize your way of thinking, take the quiz on page 11 and read the book from cover to cover. I purchased this book as a sophomore in high school looking for tips on how to clean my room. Fourteen years later it remains on my dresser with my dictionary and the Bible. It's that important! like a daily reference guide to sanity. Sandra Felton's words ring true because she herself is a Messie and understands how we think.

Organizing and Filing
I bought this book about 6 years ago and brought it home to read. However, it deals a lot with filing away papers and tells you things like when you are finished with the dishes don't just let them sit there on the counter to dry, just towel them dry and put them away. But, it doesn't cover the fact that maybe that's not your problem. I needed more guidance on how to get my kids, husband and self to get into a routine to keep things tidy in a time efficient way. I tried using this book for about 2 months, but after that it was sold in a garage sale for 25 cents!

Great for "messies"!
If you have any problems with organization, this book is a must! It gives very insightful ideas on how to get your life back in order. I recommend the most recent version you can find!

LITERALLY THE LIGHT AT THE END OF MY TUNNEL !!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs. Felton gave me hope when I thought there could never be anything but clutter and embarassment. I found the energy and encouragement I needed to overcome a lifetime of Messie habits. Through this book she taught me to focus on and be proud of what I had accomplished along my journey to cleanliness, instead of feeling guilty over what still needed doing. Very comforting to find out I was not alone.

You, too, can be neat!
I have struggled with being a messie my entire life! I have tried to find ways to organize myself (my systems never worked)and have read many books that did not help me. I knew after the first chapter that this was the right book. She has a lot of great ideas and systems that work. Don't wonder if you should buy this book - BUY IT! (You're getting two for the price of one.) I am on my way to a clean and neat house!

Awesome Motivator!
If you're drowning in a pile of clutter and junk, can't find anything when you need it and feel hopeless that you cannot change, this book is for you! I was amazed at how much it motivated and inspired me and instilled a hope that I CAN CHANGE and I don't have to be a victim any longer. After cleaning out my closets and drawers this weekend, I feel such a weight has been lifted, and I KNOW I am FINALLY on my way to a clutter-free life! This book gives great advice for maintaining a clean home once the junk is removed, also. It is filled with humor and encouraging quotes/verses that totally motivated and inspired me. The author did not make me feel guilty for being a slob, but instead explained the REASONS for my lack of ordiliness and offered awesome tips which challenged me to change! I can't tell you enough how REFRESHING it is to come home to a clean house and know I don't have to be afraid to open any of my closet doors ANYMORE or feel the shame associated with a messy home! I am a new person! Thank you Sandra Felton!

Superlative and Joyous!
BUY THIS BOOK! Intelligently written, funny and unbelievably helpful, this book is a must for even those people who think they've got their home and life in order. Not just about cleaning your house, this book literally helps you clean your life and soul. Liberating without being condescending, or suggesting that one give up sentiment or family traditions. (i.e. you can keep your children's Christmas tree ornaments and give away that 1/2 finished needlepoint kit... and feel no guilt.) A celebration of family and respect. Ms. Felton is a truth teller and in this case, the truth doesn't hurt, it frees you from the bondage of your 'stuff'. Bravo! I've bought 6 copies and am passing them out to everyone I care about.

Useless on organisation - self-esteem psycho-babble
If you are looking for straightforward tips on how to get organised, this is NOT the book for you. Self-indulgent, unresearched - Sandra Felton babbles on about women like her with no idea or interest in the reality of ther people's lives. Aboslute drivel.

Too basic for me
I've read so many books on housekeeping that this book really didn't offer anything I hadn't seen elsewhere. Also, after perusing this book I realized that I'm not the messie I used to be.

If you are a major messie and haven't read many books about it then you may like this. Personally, I've received more motivation studying feng shui. Now that I know *why* I should clean up, it's easier to feel motivated to do so.

depressed by the mess?
This is a great little uplifting, inspiring read for the chronically disorganized & messy (particularly women with ADD). This is NOT a how-to book that will send you out to the Organized Living store to buy shelves & closet cubes & spice organizers & the like. It IS a book about messiness and depression, disorganization and self-esteem. Felton, founder of Messies Anonymous, offers many practical tips to help you learn how to tackle clutter & mess systematically. She also discusses the self-esteem issues that often lead to messiness. Felton describes a "messie personality" -- it sounds alot like ADD to me.

If you're just looking for a few low-level organizational tips, I'd recommend that you skip this book. If you're chronically messy and you're not sure why & even worse, you're not sure how to deal with it, this may be just what you need.

Really helpful, as her books tend to be.
Felton helps you understand yourself and the people you live with. There are a hundred books of how-tos and helpful hints; hers are about making yourself actually -do- something! This one is both helpful and supportive, for a person (whether messy or not) who lives with a Messie.

Long on opinions; short on practical advice
This book was a disappointment. I expected to learn more about organization and motivation as in Felton's other books (which have been helpful). Instead, this book is jammed with lots of religion, unfounded claims about ADD, and other nonsense.

"It Was Clean Last Week! . . . You Should Have Come Then."
This is not the book you want to pick up if you're looking for 101 helpful hints to housekeeping. This is the book you read when none of those hints, tips, and everyday wisdom books have helped. When those same tips work for others but not for you. When you can envision an organized home in your head, but just can't seem to make it happen. When you can clean the homes of others, but yours lies a shambles. When the closet you organized last week is now worse than ever. When threats come from family members to leave you or depression sets in because of your lack of ability to keep things tidy. (by the way, critics, those practical housekeeping tips are in chapter 16)

Not What I Expected, But What I Needed
If you're looking for a "how to" guide, this is not the book. Instead of handing out helpful hints, Ms. Felton gets to the root of the problem of being a Messie. My line has always been "I have every book on organization, I just don't know where they are!" Throughout the book, I felt that Ms. Felton lived my life with me. I learned a lot about myself. Most importantly, I learned that I am not disorganized, but that I am a Messie who needs to change my way of thinking in order to overcome my messiness. This book is amazing and I highly recommend it.

Sandra Felton is really obnoxious
Her tone is so smarmy, you can tell she was never a messy person, and she looks down on messy people. Only buy her books if you want to feel bad about your mess, not if you want to clean it up!

Yada, Yada, Yada
Just how many times can the same information be repackaged and sold again and again? This is how many: a dozen books; organizational products; and numerous audio and video tapes. This incessant line of stuff seems to be more of a cash cow milking the hopes of the disorganized than offering any new or useful information. If the information is so good, why so many versions? Doesn't that just add to the amount of stuff we are already hopelessly buried under? Save your money and rent a dumpster instead.
