Helpful book for chaplains and caregivers
I fail to realize why this book is not used more by chaplains and caregivers who help the sick. It contains prayers from the ages, and helps to describe the way prayer and faith speed the healing process.

Short but informative
This book is concise, yet extremely informative. Richard H. Rovere and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. prove to be a great match in writing the "General and the President." The book opens on a brief note on General Douglas Macarthur's early military history, followed by the outbreak of the Korean war, and the origins and climax of the feud between General Macarthur and President Harry Truman. It comes complete with maps of Korea, political cartoons from the era, and a well documented appendix consisting of speeches, conversations, and testimonies from key government officials of the time. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the Korean War and the famous feud.

CPA - ARE
This book provides a good summary of the CPA Accounting & Reporting examination. It saves me a lot of times to look for different reference books for a variety of topics covered in the examination.

It is a very good book to study before the examination. Q & A on each section also help to test my understanding. Sometimes, I would fall into a trap that I thought I understand but actually I don't. This book can resolve this type of problems.

Also, it is also a good tool to do the recap. Just revisit the book one week before the examination without doing the exercise and it does help you to remember those key points.

Overall, this book is good value for money.

For Rackham fans
Nice collection of hard-to-find Rackham images, but not the best color reproduction. Still a good book for the Rackham enthusiast.

Excellent art
Rackham's skill at personifying nature is shown once more. Although not a book for children due to its graphic nature, the flowing lines and colors tell more than a thousand words. If a Rackham fan, a must have.

The Source of 'Northerness'
These are fantastic illustrations.

C.S. Lewis stumbled upon these Arthur Rackham paintings for Richard Wagner's, "Der Ring Des Nibelungen". Lewis writes in "Suprised By Joy" how the pictures inspired a Mythical sensation of 'Northerness' in his young mind.

As a child, 16-years ago, I discovered the same books and Arthur Rackham illustrations at the local library. I was enchanted! They led me explore the worlds of Wagnerian Opera.

I'm really glad the pictures are now reproduced in this paperback book. Pure Magic!

If you're new to Arthur Rackham's illustrations, these are PERFECT to start with.

Recommended for Programmer who new to Visual Foxpro
By the title itself 'Using...', simply means HOW to use Visual Foxpro? It is the best guide for developers who are new and for some who wanted to learn Visual Foxpro as a database development tool. For sure, the learning curve of a newbie VFP developer will be shortened when using this book.

Excellent - for VFP 6.0 users too
I have numerous VFP books and am firmly a VFP 6.0 user. I have found this book to be awesome for beginner to advanced. Very, very well written.

I've actually found it more usable than the subsequent Que title "Using Visual FoxPro 6" - which has different authors and different approach. Que should have simply upgraded their 5.0 title.

You won't be sorry with this one.

The BEST Visual Foxpro 5 Book Ever
Simply the best book for learning Foxpro. Mr. Antonovich's style makes it easy to grasp all the new concepts that have come along with Foxpro's adoption of OOP model. Also an outstanding Foxpro and database reference.

Fixing the Spy Machine: Preparing American Intelligence for the Twenty-First Century
Published in Unknown Binding by Praeger Pub Text (E) (1999)

A Scholarly Insider's View
Students of intelligence have been blessed this year with the publication of two outstanding books on American intelligence: Mark Lowenthal's "Intelligence" and Arthur Hulnick's "Fixing the Spy Machine."

Hulnick, a retired intelligence officer and former "CIA Officer in Residence" at Boston University and one of the Agency's first public spokesmen, provides a stimulating overview of the major problems facing the US intelligence community. It is a particularly useful book for those who seek a professional's critical view on issues ranging from the need for better recruitment to improved coordination between civilian and military clandestine activities.

Although Hulnick clearly has considerable sympathy for the needs of the intelligence community, this is by no means an uncritical whitewash. On the contrary, it is a thoughtful probing of present and future problems facing US intelligence and policy makers.

I would rate this book as one of a handful any serious student of US intelligence should read and own --- to come back to often as a reference volume.

US Intelligence is not broken...view from the inside
This book has two good features-the author really does understand the personnel issues, and hence one can read between the lines for added value; and the book is as good an "insider" tour of the waterfront as one could ask for. How the book treats the CIA-FBI relationship, for example, is probably representative of how most CIA insiders feel. The book does not reflect a deep understanding of open sources and tends to accept the common wisdom across the intelligence bureaucracy, that all is "generally okay" and just a bit of change on the margin is necessary. In this respect, it is a good benchmark against which the more daring reformist books may be measured.

Looking for Arthur: A Once and Future Travelogue

Esoteric training probably required, but has great humor too
Richard Leviton must have been studying arcane systems and beliefs all his life to have written this. It mixes everything from the Arthurian myth traditions to Bhuddism with a lot of the Qabbala thrown in. It was not what I would call an easy read in some places, but the story line and the rollicking antics of Leviton's multi-angelic mentor Blaise made it worth it. Then too, there's that twist to the ending that kept me awake all night.

And what the heck is geomancy anyway? I would be extremely interested in hearing from other readers how they felt about this book, if they wish...
