Loved it!
This is one that I ran across at the public library. The teacher in me loves that it has number words, color words, and rhyming words. My kids (boys- ages 4 and nearly 6)love the story, the illustrations, and the humor. From "One giant monster wears a dress, eats the couch, and makes a mess" to "Twenty hungry monsters with nothing left to chew. Better close this book up tight...Before they chew on YOU!" A really cute book!

A Preschool Favorite
My kids love this book, and when I read it to my 4 year old's preschool class, they went nuts! They ALL loved it! I'm buying it for his preschool teacher for xmas.

Excellent and Fun Beginner Book!
This is a FUN and cute monster book. Excellent for beginning readers but fun to read to younger children. I have a three year old who has memorized the book and loves to 'read' it to me! He loves his MONSTER MUNCHIES!!

user friendly accurate guide
Being a student of rainforest medicinal plants myself, I found this book one of the best, published or unpublished, to-date. The drawings are excellent, making field identification easy. The presentation of both the common and scientific names of plants is invaluable. I found it interesting that the Carribean people of Belize and the Carribean people of Costa Rica (where I am) use the same names and uses for many of the medicinal plants. This book is a wealth of information for such a small price, not to mention, motivation for further inquiry. Thank You!

What kids about to get their first monster need to know
With the film "Monsters, Inc." about to hit video stores, lots of young children are going to be interested in the wisdom offered in "Laura Numeroff's 10-Step Guide to Living with your Monster" (illustrated by Nate Evans) in anticipation of having their own monster in the house. This book is geared specifically for ages 3-7, the age when a child usually is given responsibility for their first monster. It will be useful to parents who have forgotten or did not know that monsters like Country & Western music (I certainly did not know that and would not have even guessed that was indeed the case). Ms. Numeroff helps with not only the selecting of the proper monster, but covers such basics as naming, feeding, and cleaning. The back of the book contains glowing tributes from "Good Monster-Keeping Magazine" and satisfied readers. I should note, that many of the principles enumerated by Ms. Numeroff could be applied to having a pet or baby brother, just in case getting a monster proves to be unrealistic for you and your youngsters at this particular point in time.

Love it!
10-Step Guide... is full of imaginative fun. Ms. Numeroff's clever writing style and Mr. Evan's playful illustrations really come together nicely to offer an enjoyable experience for the reader. I am also impressed that part of the proceeds from the sale of the book goes to Michael J. Fox's Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Monster Fun.....
Laura Numeroff and Nate Evans have authored the quintessential resource guide for monster acquisition and care. Find out how to choose the very best monster, and how to pick the right name. "You don't want to call him Hercules when you sister calls him Fluffy." Learn what to feed him, where to take him, how to handle a visit to the vet, and how to train him..."This may take some time." Get grooming tips, bedtime strategies, and hints for monster games and entertainment. And always remember, be good to your monster and he'll be good to you..... Ms Numeroff's silly, clever text is full of energy, humor and fun, and complemented by Mr Evans' engaging bold, bright, and busy illustrations. Together this dynamic duo have come up with a list of dos and don'ts, no monster lover can live without. Perfect for preschoolers, Laura Numeroff's 10-Step Guide To Living With Your Monster is a joyous, manic romp little ones will beg to read again and again.

Breast Cancer and the Mountains
I laughed and cried my way through this book of awesome will and determination. A must read for all women whether they face breast cancer or not. An inspirational book for women mountaineers. Laura's story of triumph is motivating to people in all walks of life. Her ultimate death in 2000 of a brain tumor is certainly not the last chapter in her life and legacy as the founder of Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

If you liked this book....
you'll like "No Mountain Too High, A Triumph Over Breast Cancer," which is the story of the 17 breast cancer survivors who comprised the core of Laura Evan's Expedition Inspiration. I was the journalist on the climb and had the honor of climbing with Laura and the other 16 women, as well as spending over two years researching their stories: from illness and treatment to recovery and rebuilding of their lives. Laura assembled a formidable team of women, all of whom became and remain good friends. Each year since the climb of Aconcagua, the team reconvenes for an annual reunion. Whether you have breast cancer or not, as I discovered from being with these incredible women, there are life lessons to be learned.

Once upon a time....
One day I was shopping in L.L. Bean saw this book picked it up and couldn't put it down until I had to go. I have been wondering where I could get that book ever since, and now I've found it. I don't have cancer and yet I LOVE it! Truly inspirational

Make This Book Your Bible!
I am a court reporter who is using continuous speech recognition software to produce transcripts and to do realtime reporting. I am considered to be an advanced user and have assisted and consulted many other people on speech recognition products. This book immediately became invaluable to me. "Dragon Naturally Speaking Complete" gives the reader a well-rounded understanding of the basic mechanics of state-of-the-art speech recognition products on the market, and then serves as a compass to guide them through how to best apply this technology.

I receive numerous calls and e-mails every week covering a fairly wide range of speech recognition issues. I answer those questions as best I can, but usually I feel like the person needs more information than I can give them at the time to understand the software and hardware well enough to achieve their goals. This book covers almost every aspect of speech recognition that I have had to deal with. Paid consultants might want to keep this gem under their hat, because this book will empower its readers to a very high degree. This book not only gives its reader insight to methods and techniques to rapidly build their speech recognition skills, but it also gives a very good explanation of hardware issues concerning speech recognition. The authors also have given numerous references to sites, products and newsgroups that are invaluable resources.

Before buying the book, I thought the book might turn out to be too technical in nature for many people. Those concerns were quelled after reading just the first few pages. This book is written clearly enough so that a novice to speech recognition can understand it, and then be incrementally elevated to a high level of proficiency. If some thought and common sense is applied, the reader will be elevated to an advanced level. I consider this compendium to be a speech recognition treatise, only written so we mere mortals can understand!

DNS Resource and Guide
I have gone thru almost all the book so far and I find that is full of tips to make my speech recognition use a better experience. Yes, it is true that in some instances I would like to see more macros, but that would require a devoted book on the subject. I am a software trainer and I always find that different audiences have different expectatives and sometimes they find I have not met them. Good work and I congratulate the authors for the effort on putting so much information at hand.
