A warm and personal look into the lives of Roy and Dale.
This is a wonderful, warm and personal look into the lives of Roy Rogers, the King of the Cowboys and Dale Evans Rogers, the Queen of the West. This book gives the stories of Roy's life from his humble beginnings in Duck Run, Ohio and Dale's start in Uvalde, Texas to their present lives in Apple Valley, California. The stories of their joys and hardships are very touching. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is fan of Roy or Dale as well as anyone who wants to read an inspiring story about the Hollywood couple who are heros in real life just as they were in the movies. The only suggestion I would have for the next edition of this book is that it needs an index. The stories are so wonderful you'll be wanting to see more photos and hear more of Roy and Dales personal stories

A delightful book about Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
This book is a MUST for anyone who is a fan of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger of course! Only three things could make this book better; An index would be a nice addition, MORE of Roy and Dale's own stories about their lives and lots more pictures

A "Must Have" for Anyone who liked "Let Us Now Praise...."
First introduced to "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men" by James Agee and Walker Evans through a PBS Documentary, which inspired a dash to the library to read the book iteself, it wasn't until years later I went back to the library to see if anyone had ever followed up on the story. Confronted with the then new computerized "card catalog" system, I wondered how I might search for any related writings when it dawned on me what a perfect title would naturally evolve from the verse the first book title was taken: ..And Their Children After Them. Imagine my amazement when I tried that title, and there it was! Maharidge and Williamson have followed in Agee and Evans footsteps to give readers "the rest of the story" of the tenant farmers' families and grandchildren, as well as the stories of Agee and Evans themselves. I congratulation them on an excellent book, and offer thanks to the families and their descendants for sharing their lifestories. Their lives did not take the path predicted for them by Agee: life refuses to be harnessed by prediction. Some went farther than anyone could have anticipated, while others came to a place, if possible, even worse than expected. As a second generation American, descended from Polish and Prussian immigrants who lived comparable lives, but who were blessed to own their own land, I identified closely with these stories, from the first page of "Let Us Praise" to the last page of "And Their Children".

.." Many Happy Trails"...sunset in El Dorado...
A precursor of sound bites, Frances Octavia, (born Oct 31,1912 in TX)changed her name to "Evans" because it sounded more euphonious...easier for announcers use on radio. "Queen of the West" wrote more than dozen books, including "Angel Unaware"..on their daughter,Robin, who died of Down Syndrome, in '52. She joins & now rides, on "Buttermilk", with Roy,& Trigger...over the Rainbow..in the great Western Sky. Let us all recall: "Don't Fence Me In".

Great reference manual and text!
This was one of my very first books in graduate school and it was the key to understanding all of the literature I'll ever need to read. This text fully explains how to break down highly technical research into easily understandable and useful material. Now I feel confident in picking up any piece of research and knowing whether it is a valid and reliable source of information. I can also apply the same methods to testing materials as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by research.

Moving 'Em : A Guide to Low Stress Animal Handling

Forget what you think about moving animals and try this out
Great book. Much of what is presented is obvious if you think about it, but what is great about the book is the fact that the information makes you think. The process of handling animals is explained in such a way that you can practice skills and techniques and dramatically affect your handling.

I have bison and one day when moving the herd from one pasture to the other, they decided to stop in the path between the pastures. From reading the book, I understood better what was going on. The dominant animals were in the front and those animlas where satisfied with how far into the new pasture they had traveled. The remaining animals would not move forward and for me to apply pressure would have been met with poor results. So, I worked on the lead animlas and in a matter of minutes, the herd was moving again and everyone was though and the gates could be closed.

This is a great book for any owner of livestock, from little to big.

Made me a believer!
I was losing hope in god and my stay at county lockup brought this wonderful book my way. Since I am not a bookworm and there is not much to do in jail I picked a rather worn edition of Dale Evans I am a country fan so that may have invited the book my way. Once I started to read the book I could not put it down, it made me cry, it inspired me and made me believe very strongly in God again. If this family can go through all this and still have a strong faith there must be a god. I truly believe anybody wondering about God should start here with this book.

a lesson in love and patience
I read "Angel Unaware" about 20 years ago and could not put it down until I finished it. Mrs. Rogers said she was inspired by God to write this book and I know in my heart only someone in tune with God could have written such a heartfelt book. Over the years I lost my copy and have searched everywhere for another copy with no avail. After I got my computer, I found you folks and thank God, at last, I found my dream. I have never been able to think about or tell anyone about this wonderful book without feeling the wonderful warmth and joy I felt 20 years ago when I first picked up this book. I have never read a book since that touched me the way this book did. Thank you for preserving this wonderful work of art even now that the wonderful author, Dale Evans Rogers is at long last at home with that beautiful angel of hers.

Wonderfully touching and tender!!!
I read this book for the first time when I was a very young girl, probably about 12 years of age. I loved it then and have always wanted to re-read it. I recently found another copy and just finished reading it. I found it to be even more wonderful now that I am fully grown and a mother myself. The book brought tears to my eyes and I will always cherish the reading of this book. I would love to see everyone read this book. It really puts things in perspective.

It is timeless. I have held it in my heart for 20 years
I read this book as a little girl blind to what troubles that others had. Thanks to this inspiring heartfelt portrait told through Robin's eyes, I became aware of the world beyond my small circle. I hold it and Helen Keller's story highest in my wide range of past reading. I bought both for my two daughters in hopes that it might teach them the compassion and acceptance I value so deeply. Now at 30 I have been diagnosed with MS and I feel that the experience of these books have truly helped me to endure the drastic changes in my life. Every child should read this book. They might see things a little clearer if they did. Thank you Mrs. Evans for sharing your beautiful ANGEL with the rest of us!

From the cover: "The irrepressible spirit of the cowgirl is alive & kicking-around the country & in this celebration of women of the Wild West. Introduced by . . . Dale Evans, [book] is an extravagantly entertaining compilation of pictures & prose. The narrative includes tributes, profiles, & anecdotes of frontier females in the Old West & the New West and showcases everything from fashion, food, and fame to music, matchmaking, & much more - cowgirl style." [Pardon the editing.] The book is informative & a hoot!
