The Funny Book
The best mysterious book I ever read.Full of laughter.Great book for kids under 14.I wish there was more characters.

Critique of The Case of the Vanishing Fishhook
I liked the book, The Case of the Vanishing Fishhook, because it was funny. One of the funniest parts of this book was when Hank, the cowdog, ate the soap. Hank had swallowed a fishhook. Then he swallowed soap to help him spit the hook out. This is the funniest "Hank" book written by John R. Erickson. I give this book a five-star rating and I recommend that you read it immediately!

I couldn't put it down
This book is very good because Hank go's fishin' with little Alfred and gets very mad at Drover because he eats the bait and while hank was yelling at Drover Hank found some of the bait and ate it. To find out if there was a fishhook attached to it read the book.

Read this book
Hank the Cow Dog the Case of the Vampire Vacuum Sweeper is the coolest book ever. It's about a dog that tries to save his ranch. It's really funny when Slim gets trapped in the bathroom then Ms. Viola comes. My best character is Slim he's very funny. I would recommend you to read it cause I gave it 5 stars. *****

Hank the cowdog and the case of the vampire vacuum sweeper
Hank the cowdog and the case of the vampire vacuum sweeper is about a dog that thinks he is the head of ranch security. It starts off when slim gets a call from Mrs. Viola and says that she is going to come over for some coffee because she is out.

Slim goes crazy because his house is a mess. He starts to clean it up with a broom but then he remembers the vacuum sweeper that Sally May gave him last year. He turns it on and starts to clean the house when he notices that Hank is sitting around doing nothing. He starts to try and get hanks tail with the vacuum.

This book is extremely funny and I recommend it for anyone who can read.

Another hit from John Erickson
The Case of the Vampire Vacuum Sweeper is a must-read aloud. I purchased the book-on-tape and listened to it with my children during a long car trip. After the first 10 minutes, we were laughing so hard you could barely hear the tape! This volume of the Hank the Cowdog series is denfinitely one of the best (just wait until the part about the vacuum sweeper!).

humor for the kid in all, best tape book Ive heard
Comic drama at its best. Wonderful voice acting, writing and wording of scramble (scrambling of words, written in the tapes own dialect). A joy for the whole family.

A great series for developing readers
My ten year old son is a rapidly developing avid reader who has fallen absolutely in love with this excellent series. Erickson creates rapid narratives filled with honest (and yes, corny) humor and pleasently comic action and an occasional moral or two.

This series provides young readers with a simple, yet appropriately challenging vocabulary. It also provides fine entertainment as it can hold a young man, who favors outdoor activities and sports, and his attention span for countless hours. A most highly reccomended series of books designed to encourage and develop young readers.

Enchanting!
This is my all time favorite Hank the Cowdog book! I love Madam Moonshine and Wallace and Junior. It's witty and humorous throughout the book. I'm impatiently waiting for #34 to come out. I recomend any of these books to children and adult alike.

Hank's stricken with "Eye-Crosserosis". Can he find a cure?
Poor Hank! This makes a great sequel to number one! This is one of the best, and the cure for this terrible disease is hilarious! I would recommend this book to any Hank the Cowdog fan! - MG

The Case of the Fiddle Playing Fox
All of John's books are funny and cute. In this book a foxhypnotizes the chickens and makes them dance on the floor. While hedoes that he sneaks over and eats the eggs. The next day Sally May is mad because she did not get her 12 eggs. You should read this book sometime and find out what else happens. END

Fabulous fiddling fox causes Hank problems
As usual, Hank is up against an unusual problem. The fox is in the hen house, but he's been INVITED!! The rooster, Drover and Hank are all suspicious about music in the night, but no one seems to be able to stay awake to find out what it is...

I thought that this was a wonderful book. Actually, we heard it on tape, which is many times better than the book form. The author gives each character their own voice and personalities, and sings his songs as they are meant to be heard. These tapes are great for long car rides, rainy days, and just about any other kind of day in between. I HIGHLY recommend these children AND adults.

Doggone good Book
Having been born and raised on a cattle ranch(not in Texas however)there is so much to relate to in the Hank books, we have rattlesnakes too, and learn to look very carefully before reaching for anything lying around in the summertime. My 8 year old loves me to read the Hank books to him,(I do a real good Drover) soon we both become part of the story, and lose track of time. Even if you've never had a cowdog, or lived on a ranch, you'll love this book, but if you have, you'll be hooked for life on Hank the Cowdog! We are.

The best book ever
I would recommend Hank the Cow Dog Case of the Double Bumblebee Sting because it's funny. Hank thinks two bumblebees have bitten him but it ends up that it was a rattlesnake. His face swells up like a balloon. He says, "It weighs 250 pounds". Drover keeps on saying that it was a rattlesnake, but Hank will be Hank - stubborn as a donkey. Hank keeps on saying, "it was 2 bumblebees in that pipe". Drover just goes with the flow and says "OK". I recommend this book to you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Matthew Jacobs's Hank the Cowdog's Bee Sting Reveiw
This book is about a dog named Hank. Hank lives on a ranch, and is head of ranch security. Drover is another dog that live on the ranch. In this book Hank gets bit by a rattlesnake, but he thinks it's a bumble bee. Sally May his owner takes him to the vet to get a shot. In the end Hank finally get's better. I reccomend this because it's funny and thrilling to read.

Hank The Cow Dog Series
For readers of any age the Hank The Cow Dog series is one of the best. It will hold the attention of older struggling readers with lower abilities. Parents reading to their children will enjoy the books as much as the kids do. With wit and humor the adventures of Hank keep us turing the pages. I have not read every book in the series but I will.

Amazon should make a complete set of these available.

Kayla Pryor's review on The Wounded Buzzard on Christmas Eve
In this book a buzzard gets hurt, and he gets taken care of.Well, one day Slim,Little Alfred, Drover(the dog),and Hank(the dog)was driving to town to get Christmas presents, and a buzzard named Wallace flew into the wind shield. He got hurt pretty bad,and Little Alfred begged Slim to take him home and take care of him.Slim took him home after he went shopping, and cured him. Then Wallace flew away with his son happily ever after.

The best book ever!
Its about a dog who gets into a lot of adventures and mysteries and always solves them. It is a good book and is really funny.

Great western humor for all ages
This is a book that will truly make you cry with laughter. Who ever knew that buzzards could be portrayed so humorously. Besides, you not only get the misadventures of Jr. but also his father.Throw a bachelor cowboy and two children in the mix and look out. Erikson is a master of midwestern cowboy culture and style. I live just next to Texas and people really do act and talk that way down there. This is not a farce but real. The people are also warm, kind hearted, and well intentioned as well as being, occassionally, misguided as we all are. Give this book a try. You will be glad you did.
