Antología de un buen fotógrafo
Una edición impresinante: mas de 500 fotos en calidad FOTO! parecen reales... toda la obra de uno de los mejores fotógrafos del siglo...

Much more than just Snaps
Elliott Erwitt's photographic style proves that elegance entails a simple purity of purpose. Once you open his latest book, you are drawn into a world that seems familiar, but with a twist. Erwitt sees what we all see, but captures a moment or a prespective that transforms the ordinary or odd into high art.

definitive collection of a great master
erwitt is a great master of photography and we are lucky to have him and this book. this book is extensive, and shows his best work throughout his career. his style, his eye, his heart, his mind - all come together very clearly in the pages of snaps, and the result is a must have volume for anyone seriously interested in black and white, documentary, or street photography. nothing can be said that will do this book justice, so just see for yourself. this one compares to any black and white book put out ever, no exaggeration.

Used it in place of my assigned financial accounting book...
NYU's Stern School Of Business uses this book and its a well-crafted introduction to financial accounting. While taking accounting at the other New York business school, I deep sixed my assigned accounting book and instead borrowed my wife's. It coverage of topics and pedagogical flow are quite approachable and manageable. Struggling friends begain to purchase it for themselves. An excellent book. An interesting book as well. Case examples and references keep things interesting. Not just dry rules.

accounting study guide i want a complete book
An Introduction to acconting, Assets, The time value of money, Liabilities and equities, financial Investment, Analysis, Role of accounting and Debits and credits

An excellent text to ease you into accounting
Accounting is the type of subject that can ramp up quickly in difficulty, and this text plots a nearly perfect learning curve in getting the reader well-grounded in the fundamentals. I purchased this text as a requirement for a course, but it is a definite keeper and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone interested in learning about accounting.

The Audubon Society Nature Guides WESTERN FORESTS
Without doubt, the best "Colored" pictures and information one could ask for!!

Western Forests
After moving to the Tahoe National Forest in California, we knew we needed a book to identify the wildlife, flora, trees and insects. This is simply the most perfect book. Clearly written, beautiful photos and well organized. We use it all of the time!Karyn Lepley

so good it is worth carrying in your backpack
this guide, as well as the others in this series, are an excellent first book or primary reference for those living or travelling in the areas they cover.

one of best points is that they are not exhaustive in their coverage. instead they focus on the most commonly seen species. so instead of flipping through endless pages of references to rare or seldom seen species, one can quickly find the specific plant or animal they encounter.

if one becomes more focused in study of a given type of plant or animal one can turn to more exhaustive and detailed texts -- such as audobon's own guides to birds, trees, mammals, etc.

i have found that this series is an excellent gift for those who are not specifically focused on nature studies. my parents enjoyed their gift copy -- as it enabled them to identify the trees and animals in their own back yard.

the specific entries are informative and interesting. the production values (photos, indexes) are excellent. and the opening essays are a special treat; they well written and well worth reading. they can inspire one to pay a bit more attention to the natural landscape even if all they do is drive through it.

Eastern Forests ( Audubon Society Nature Guides)
Eastern Forests: The Audubon Society Nature Guides by Ann Sutton is a comprehensive field guide which is fully illustrated with color photographs. Trees, wildflowers, birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, and mushrooms are found within the pages of this field guide.

This comprehensive field guide comprises the Eastern Forests of North America from Hudson Bay to Florida. Here you'll find the majority of what is found in these forests and woodlands. I found it quite useful while hiking in this area of North America. There is a glossary of terms used in the book that is very helpful and the habitat of the animals is found by each picture.

I'm sure that this book will be used if you do much hiking in this area, as I have used it to identify many flora and fauna.

Print more of this one!
Definitely not a waste of paper! This guide does many things very well indeed. The first part--brief but amazingly informative--gives the big picture about how forests work. It takes a quick and penetrating glance at each of the various forest communties found in Eastern North America, from the boreal forests of the north and the oak-and-hickory forests of the Ozarks to the mixed deciduous forests of the states south of the Great Lakes to the complex and ancient forests of the southern Appalachians. The second part gives the little pictures--hundreds of small but clear photographs of trees, shrubs, flowers, birds and animals. These photos are great for identifying common species quickly (bring the book with you when you walk) and include page-number references to the many informative mini-essays about each species which make up the third portion of the book. The book also contains a helpful glossary and an index. The Audubon "Western Forests" is equally good.

Easy to use, compact size, great text and photos
An excellent field guide for Eastern North America (from NE Canada to Florida, USA)... Excellent photos of trees, leaves, fruit, flowers, animals, mushrooms, and insects: they're not *all* there, but the selection is a useful and interesting subset. Highly recommended.

therapist recommends this book to clients
In my rural mental health counseling practice, I have recommended this book to about 50 clients who experience anxiety. Each client said that the book described them, helped them feel understood, had specific ideas of what to do about the problem - and that it is fun and an easy read. I highly recommend this book as a "bibliography" resource for therapists.

Perfect for High Paced Life
This book was perfect for me (a New Yorker), because I am the typical city man: fast paced life, lots of stress, and lots of anxiety. My high stress lifestyle, is derived from my high stress job. I almost didnt have time to read this book in fact, unitl my therapist insisted that I do so. I am almost done with the book and I wanted to thank the authors for providing me with great insight on my problem and more importantly for the solutions I have started to take to help myself. They made it quite clear the vitality of living a less-stress life. Now if only they could write Dummies guide to New York Streets and Traffic. Thanks Again from the Big Apple. Thomas

what a great help this book was!!
This was such a helpful book!! A very quick, easy read, very entertaining, yet helpful as well!! I am going to recommend this book to everyone!! Thanks from A. in Las Vegas!!

A superbly researched and presented biography
David Elliot has written a superbly researched and presented biography of Charles Fairfax Murray, perhaps the least known of all the Pre-Raphaelite painters who was the friend of William Morris, the Rossettis, Edward Burne-Jones, and a protégé of John Ruskin. A man who prized his privacy, Murray deliberately sought anonymity, left no memoir, and his diaries revealed very little about himself as he served his friends as a supporter, confidante, and adjutant ranging from adding miniatures to Morris' illuminated manuscripts to serving as a copyist for Ruskin. Murray's spheres of activity also came to include collecting, dealing, museology, and art-historical scholarship. A grandson of Murray, biographer David Elliot is able to offer a wealth of insights into Murray's personal and professional life as revealed by papers on both sides of the family, as well as diligently and painstaking research through the archives of Britain, Europe, and America. Charles Fairfax Murray is a magnificent and much appreciated contribution to students of the Pre-Raphaelite movement and those associated with it.

A Great Resource for Religious Organizations
Julie Bloss has done an excellent job of providing a tool for understanding employment law in any religious organization. Whether a church, school or other ministry, she clearly explains how each law can affect the issues faced by religious organizations. The book also provides very clear examples and scenarios that help in the application of what is being read. She has taken what to many can be a difficult skill to comprehend and made it very readable and easy to understand!

A Touching and Humorous Look at Humanity
Elliott Erwitt has a wonderful outlook on life. In this book, he focuses on the human hand and shows a lot of love, humor and humanity in the process. The variety includes a man kissing a woman's hand in Poland, an argument between an elderly couple in St. Tropez, people praying in Moscow, beautiful sunbathers in Rio, children playing in New Rochelle and travelers in Budapest. Most of the subjects aren't famous which is a strength. The book shows everyday scenes that could have happened anywhere. The book also includes some famous people including: Jacques Cousteau, John Updike, Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev. This book is a joy and a smile. Erwitt has great vision and compassion. Many people would have walked right past these scenes without even seeing the potential to communicate by capturing touching and humorous images.

The Invisible Woman: The Story of Nelly Ternan and Charles Dickens
Published in Hardcover by Knopf (1991)
Authors: Claire Tomalin and Charles Elliott
Amazon base price: $25.00
Used price: $3.22
Collectible price: $22.24
Average review score:

Tomalin is a great biographer
How many millions of words have been written about Charles Dickens? Many thousands in one famous biography alone (Ackroyd). Nelly Terman is there as the Mistress character in most of those, but what do we learn about Nelly? Nothing - until this biography.

It reads almost as a detective story as Tomalin uncovers not only the story of Terman-with-Dickens, but as much about Terman the woman as she can.

Highly recommended.
