The pictures are engaging. The format of the text makes it easy to target what kids are really interested in. Too bad it's out of print. One terrific book!!!

There's one game in this book that's worth the whole price--Skyscraper Runup, a kind of relay race for computation that students *love* to play. The Remainder Raccoon game is also a hit. The others are fun, too. I highly recommend the book. I've worn out my copy already!

I was worried the topic was too narrow to buy a whole book. (I don't do a unit on polar regions.) I was happy to find that the book has a lot more to it than that. There are good activities with reproducibles on map skills, science experiments, a science game, poetry, exploration, history and cultures. The card game about animal survival turned out to be a favorite. Kids are interested in polar regions, especially the animals and fascinating facts, so these activities are good motivators.

This book was very comprehensive. It sparked interest in my children to invent something that the world could use. Excellent reference to inventors and inventions throughtout the years! Excellent activities to get the kids thinking. I just ordered one for my sister, who is a homeschooler as well. We loved doing a unit study with this book as our guide. We highly recommend it.

I was surprised and relieved after buying Noun Hounds online to see that the grammar games were not too long or too complicated. My favorite is one of the simplest ones--a variation of the game Buzz--you say buzz in place of nouns (or adjectives, or other parts of speech) instead of in place of certain numbers. We use it as a warm-up for every grammar lesson. It takes less than 5 minutes for the students to thoroughly learn a list of words. There are also board games, puzzles, mazes--even a really fun charades-like game about adverbs for kinesthetic learners. The class hams really ham it up!

With all the misbehavior of athletes these days, here are six who are truly inspirational for kids. The book is well-written and easy to follow, giving the basics of each person's life sprinkled with a few interesting facts. Reluctant readers will gobble it up.

I really enjopyed the simple activities in this book and the free poster was a great tool as well. My only beef with the book is that I was mislead alittle on the grade level, this book is definately for fourth through eighth grade.

Although I found a few of the ideas in this book useful, the directions were mostly difficult to understand. The games themselves did not live up to the hype.

I don't usually write a lot of reviews, but I was so impressed with the games in this book that I wanted to spread the word. So many books tell you to do this, do that, without giving you the material you need. This book gives you reproducible cards, game boards (including one in color on the poster), and other pieces--a little copying, cutting, and you're done. Also, the games aren't the same old, same old. There are some really simple but unique approaches here that you could use with all kinds of history materials. I've expanded two of the games that way and plan to do more next year. If you're looking for a fun approach to history that doesn't take too much time, here it is.

I teach 8th grade and found this book very useful. It really spiced up my unit. The Immigration game has little passports of actual immigrants, some famous and some not. I was surprised at how many of these passports were included in the book. The game played well--easy to learn (like Who Are You?) and fast. We played two other games--one about geographic names and one about the Civil War. Can't wait to try the others. I'd say get this book if you need a spark.
