At last, a book that gives us permission to dream and a guide on how to bring those dreams to fruition. Only Paul and Sarah could have written such a book. So often others tell us to forget our dreams and merely live as the rest of the world. But in "The Practical Dreamers Handbook" we're told it's all right to have these dreams and to act on them. I've noticed a different writing style from Paul & Sarah..one of peace and tranquility. Thank you Paul and Sarah for this book.

The book was easy reading and enjoyable from the start to the finish. Great examples and stories from real people. Some of these people who were featured in the book are people we know and people we would love to get to know. The handbook gave me a new look at life and the ability to realize we too can take the leap from practical day to day and become a practical dreamer in real life. The gurus of working from home have done it again-- managed to package a personal coaching experience into the pages of their latest work, The Practical Dreamer's Handbook. I wasn't looking for a book that would change my life, but I sure found it. With their usual practical hands-on approach to working through a problem, the authors have provided us with the means to evaluate our life, choose our dream, and find tangible ways to achieve our goals.

From visualization exercises to training us to set measurable goals that can be attained, Paul and Sarah Edwards provide us with the tools to finally live our dream. I started reading this book on a Friday afternoon, and by Sunday I had rewritten my business plan and set some personal goals with my spouse. I guess you could say it has changed my life, and I plan to practice these techniques for continued success and stress-free living. Many thanks to this talented pair who continue to share their secrets and talents with the rest of us.

I love Edward Lear's story and James Marshall's illustrations are magical. I don't like the version with Jan Brett's illustrations. I've never liked Jan Brett's illustrations. I've spent hundreds of hours looking at children's books and I always pass over Jan Brett's books. Her illustrations just don't appeal to me. Her illustrations are distinctive and I can always recognize her work but I don't like them. There is just something missing--they don't have any life to them or something. I can't explain it. I have always loved James Marshall. His genius transcends understanding. His illustrations complement Ed Lear's beautiful tale perfectly.

A very good illustrated version of the classic poem- the pictures are beautiful with a distinctly exotic flavour, great for all ages!

This book is just so cool. Longing for a trip to the tropics? Read this version of the book to your little one and you can at least feel like you are there. The illustrations are really sweet. They have a lot of details so that kids kind find new things with each reading. My two-year old loves this book. It is a great twist on an old tale

First, I'll admit I'm not an unbiased reviewer. My dad served in Enterprise for three hard years ('42-45), and I've made my own efforts to tell her story.

That said, "The Big E" is without peer, as both a history of the World War II-era carrier Enterprise, and as a record of what carrier warfare in the '40's was like. Stafford's prose is both elegant and -- given the records he had available in 1960 -- accurate. His descriptions are vivid: you can feel the decks whip violently at Santa Cruz, you can see the vibrant green of the Philippines at Leyte Gulf, you can sense the tension in the ready rooms at Midway. Her men are not just names on a page, but tangible characters: bold, fast-thinking, humble, optimistic, but sometimes very worried about their prospects.

There are a couple points about the book which the prospective reader should be aware of. Stafford's focus is primarily on the ship's squadrons, and less so on efforts of her crew. Originally published over 40 years ago, some of the language is a bit dated, though, again, overall the writing is superb.

The fact, however, that a 40-year old book about a ship that was decommissioned in 1947 is deemed fit to reprint in 2002 should tell you two things. The book is not a throwaway, but a genuine work of literature. And Enterprise was not just a warship, but a unique bonding of man and machine, that came through for her country when she was needed most.

I have had this book since it was first published and I can no longer keep the book together, so it is time to replace it. I'm was thriller to see it still in print.
My father was a plank owner of the BIG "E" and loved the ship with a special love that only someone who have faced death and servived can feel. It was a disgrace to have her scrapped and after readin Cdr Stafford's incredible story, I believe that everyone would agree she(and more importantly the men who seved on her) were and are national treasures

This was the first book I read about World War II and it inspired me regarding the selfless way these men who fought put themselves on the line everyday for 4 years. Cmdr Stafford brought the ship to life. I lost this book over the years and the copy I have now is precious to me. The sacrifice of those on board cannot ever be discounted nor will it ever cease to inspire.

I benefit a lot from the book's reminder on those "traps" which I have also committed some.

This book is excellent for anyone who is required to make strategic decisions. It will give you a clear framework for stepping back and making sure that you understand the problem that you are trying to solve and that you are considering all appropriate solutions to the problem.

As my husband and I read through the book, we realized it made a lot of sense to gather experiences from others. These people have made a work at home career workable. Paul and Sarah show us how to think on our feet, keep things in order, be flexible and get the kids involved too. We really appreciate all of the recommendations throughout the book. These are a huge source of unbelievable resources right at the finger tips. We are very anxious to go to the recommended websties, and of course, read the books. The three books that we have already purchased and are extremely pleased with are Getting Publicity, by Tana Fletcher, How to Raise a Family and a Career Under One Roof, by Lisa Roberts and Mommy-CEO, (Constantly Evaluating Others)5 Golden Rules, Revised Edition, by Jodie Lynn. So far, these three books have helped to pinpoint daily stress factors involving a business and last but certianly not least, kids in the home. There are many others listed which we are sure will be extremely useful in the big picture of things to come. In our experience, we have learned it doesn't matter how successful we'd like to be, but instead, getting the right answers for the right challenge and then making it workable for the family. As the authors say, if there are kids around, get them involved in either the business or other activities so work can be completed. This is a true statement especially if children are underfoot for the biggest part of the day. For the best use of our time on a daily basis, we know it's mandatory that parenting skills are sharp and respect is working on both ends of the spectrum. This book has almost every answer to every question entreprneurs wonder about. If there is any stone left unturned, it can surely be found in one of the many other recommended books or websites. Totally cool and it just makes sense.

I had bought Paul and Sarah Edwards book "How To Make Money in Cyberspace" several years ago when I first had the concept of my business... and I owe it all to Paul and Sarah for passing along their knowledge to make this business the success that it is. I only wish that "The Entrepreneurial Parent" had been published at that time as well. I would have saved myslef a lot of time and mistakes along the way as far as running a business from home with a small child. This book is cram packed full of advice, resources, techniques and real life examples. I can attest to all the book has to offer having gone through the process myself. Thank you Paul and Sarah for publishing such a valuable resource. I highly reccommend buying this book along with their other book "How To Make Money in Cyberspace" if you are thinking of starting an on-line business.

Aside from the how to basics, you can tell that Paul and Sarah have really done their homework -- it's loaded with facts. Paul and Sarah paint a real picture of what it's like to work from home. They show that entrepreneurs defined success in terms of quality of life, rather than dollars earned. For many, it's a trade off that is well worth it for more time with the kids and a richer life. They offer extensive coverage of insurance options for the self-employed. Other topics include childcare options, how to handle summer vacations, and involving the family in your business.

I read this book cover to cover in about three days. I have used the knowledge I've gained to grow my own business. I also share the information with my accounting and consulting clients to help them grow their businesses. The book is very readable and the methods are definitely "real world". One of the many useful topics is finding a marketing strategy that works for you. Many people find cold calling an excruciating way to get new business. This book provides a wide range of marketing activities that are much less painful and more effective. If you want to grow your business, this book is a great investment. For me, it more than paid for itself within a week.

I not only purchased this book for myself, but a copy for my business partner; mine was too furry with Post-Its, notes, and dog ears to let it out of my sight! I think everyone will find something to relate to in this book! Author Ivan Mehosky makes us feel as though we really know his father, Colonel Mehosky. I could not help but think of my own grandparents as I read this wonderful narrative.

As a professional educator, formerly a teacher of U.S. History and now a Principal, I found Ivan Mehosky's work a wonderful read and tribute to his father. This is the type of book, one with a personal story, which is so very useful to show students that those wars which have ensured their freedom are more than dates on a timeline or points on a map. Several times, I felt like I was part of the battle myself. The story goes much deeper than a book about war. Mr. Mehosky does an excellent job of telling the story of an era gone by but not forgotten. Being from the Reading, Pennsylvania area myself (Col. Mehosky's hometown), I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to attend a local book signing for A Story of A Soldier. It was incredible to see how the book touched so many. Old classmates, with yearbooks in hand, and neihbors from the old neihborhood showed up to greet the author and talk to him about his father, Col. Mehosky. They talked about the "good old days" long before he ever entered the Army. The stories I heard reminded me of things I had heard from my own family about the early part of the 20th century. This is a great book for anyone with a passion for that time period. Without question, this is a book for anyone who is a fan of the human spirit and the American Dream.

This book follows the military career of a man who deserves a sincere thank you, not only for his heroic actions in WWII, Korea and Vietnam but more importantly for his steadfast committment to providing leadership and superb training for the men under his command. He taught his men to think and react and without a doubt his leadership saved countless lives. At whatever rank, Col. I remember this gamebook series from childhood, though I was never particularly good at them. "The Cave of Time" starts out with the reader finding a cave and deciding whether or not to enter it. From there, the reader travels back in time to the Ice Age, colonial America, the Dark Ages--even traveling ahead in time. There is no one ending or quest to this book, so you're not in a mad dash to win. In fact, there is no "winning" in here, just 40 possible endings to certain situations--some good, some fatal. Younger readers who like gamebooks will probably like this book/series, though there's not a lot of action.

Its not really about anything you get to be the character in the book and you half to make the decions.It takes place in a cave in a castle a ranch and it was a long time ago alot of years ago .my favorite part of the book was when these two guards draged me out of the chamber and put two spears at my back and just about killed me.I dont no what kind of people would like this book but i do recomend it because its a short, easy, and fun book to read .

If you want an all-in-one comprehensive work at home reference this is the book to buy. It contains useful information necessary for beginning and experience home workers. Almost everything you must consider before starting or operating your own self-employment venture is included. Covers topics such as marketing, finance, insurance, taxes, legal matters, motivation, organization, setting goals, time management, psychology, equipment and family considerations. Includes checklists, worksheets, diagrams, money saving tips, resources and interviews of people who work at home for a living. I thought this book was easy to read and understand. I can see why Paul and Sarah Edwards are considered experts on the subject of working from home.

This is the first Paul and Sarah Edwards book that I read and it is still my favorite. This complete update of the premier guide to home-based employment features complete and easy-to-follow advice on equipping and computerizing the up-to-date home office; funding your venture--and staying out of debt; keeping your work and personal life separate and making cyberspace work for your individual business needs, and much more.

This book is a NOVEL and presents one possible view of what Edward de Vere's life might have been like as the author of the Shakespearean plays. Although the story is written from the Oxfordian viewpoint, the book makes no attempt to present the Oxfordian case or to refute any other authorship theory. It is just a story of how it might have been - fact mixed together with supposition. Since a little fact and a lot of supposition is all any Shakespeare biographer has to work with, this book reads a lot like some poorly documented Shakespeare biographies - but remember that this author does NOT claim to have written a biography.

I think that Altrocchi created a pretty interesting story. Occasionally the writing is a bit stiff, but overall it is quite imaginitive and believable (if the reader can meet Altrocchi part way and suspend disbelief). The author's own 20th-21st century attitudes definitely infiltrate the story at points, but in other cases he presents ways of looking at events that my "modern" viewpoint would never have thought of. The story flows rapidly and is a quick read. It did leave me wondering what really happened, but we do not know and may never know. Altrocchi leads the reader to imagine.

Being a fan of the biographical novel since Irving Stone's The Agony and the Ecstacy (Michelangelo) and Lust for Life (Van Gogh), I read this book with marked anticipation and enjoyed it. But as to its veracity there is some question. A far superior book on the Shakespeare-de Vere issue is Charlton Ogburn's The Mysterious William Shakespeare. Several of the points made in that book are echoed in this one--de Vere's affair with Elizabeth and their conception of a child who was to become the Earl of Southampton, to name one--but some are not. For instance, Ogburn suggests that the questioned paternity of de Vere's first daughter with Anne Cecil was the result of a deception on her part (probably at the behest of her conniving father)--Anne snuck into Edward's bed when he was expecting someone else, a motif that appears in All's Well That Ends Well. Altrocchi makes no mention of this. A closer connection to the plays themselves would have thus helped this book. But it is a good read and does reveal some interesting insights into the relationship between de Vere, Elizabeth and Burghley. My only complaint is that much of the dialogue seems contrived and artificial. But what can one expect from a medical doctor? Also, this book is missing documentation for the quotes from printed sources, so it is impossible to tell what is actual and what is imagined, unless one assumes that all italicized portions are actual quotes, which is not stated. I expected a more scholarly treatment. Moreover, I suspect Sonnet 146--"Poor soul, the centre of my sinful earth / . . . . / And Death once dead, there's no more dying then"--was the last thing Shakespeare wrote, not Hamlet's dying speech. Finally, an epilogue explaining the posthumous printing of the plays, like the 1604 quarto of Hamlet and the 1623 folio, would have added a nice touch.
