An amazing book
Origami Insects and Their Kin is absolutely my favorite origami book. All but the first model are extremely challenging, and the first one would be given a "complex" rating in any book. I can't stress this enough: if you are bored with the origami books you have because they are too easy, THIS is the book you are looking for. The only downside is that everything else pales in comparison afterwards! The insect models in this book are what one expects of Robert Lang, and then some. They are all beautifully rendered, and amazingly, they're simple enough in design that it's hard to imagine taking any of the details away. The models are so difficult because Lang chooses great subjects, from the exotic-looking Black Pine Sawyer, Samurai Helmet Beetle, and Long-Necked Seed Bug, to the common (but still beautiful) Pill Bug, Dragonfly, and Ant. It's difficult to continue elaborating on Origami Insects and Their Kin, because after several years it still makes my jaw drop, leaving me speechless. This book stands head and shoulders above any other origami book I have seen, for complexity and model quality. If you can't stand insects, perhaps this isn't the book for you. If that's not a problem, then why haven't you already put a good fifty hours into this book?

Beautiful and very difficult origami insect models.
This book contains some of the most difficult origami models available. Insane folds requiring large, tough paper are the norm - some of the best origamiist in existance find that the models tend to shatter into shreds from the stress on the paper. The resulting models are detailed in the extreme and very beautiful - if you survive the construction!

The Best Origami book I have!
This is my favorite book ever. some of the most complicated models I have ever seen. took a few years to master. It was used so musch the thing fell apart, so I had to punch holes and put it in a binder. One of my favorites is the Scarab Beetle. The best thing about this book is that the models are not flat they are totally 3D. Your own unique touches can be added to the finished product. again great book I recommend this to the advanced origami folder. Or someone who wants a challenge

Practical, Innovative
Well beyond theory - this is obviously the work of the men who have done it. Chocked full of stories, examples, checklists, work plans, and wisdom. If you are thinking about gainsharing or participative management - get this, read it, and use it to guide your work.

Excellent " how to " and " why" cookbook for managers
Managers, entrepeneurs, ceo s , cfo s, and consultants will appreciate this book as a prac- tical and well-explained series of methods for creating and implementing gain sharing and/or variable pay programs. More than any other book on the subject this will be a clear explana- tion of gain sharing and variable pay. It is clear, well-written, concise and yet far reaching in its analysis and down to earth examples of what has worked and what has not worked at places that have tried gain sharing management.

You will not want to discard this book during the time you are implementing a gain sharing or variable pay program. As I management con- sultant I often refer to it in my seminars and on-site consultations. Mike Pavilon, Chicago

Best Overall
Gainsharing and Productivity is the best overall explanation of the evolution of gainsharing plans and the essential elements for design and implementation. While other authors have studied this subject Robert Doyle has done it - at one of the companies acknowledged as one of the top ten companies to work for in America.

The Heart and Soul of an Intro Course
Every year, I'm asked to review a multitude of introductory psychology texts for use in my classrooms. As a result, I have sampled and used several texts in my 10+ years of teaching at the community college level.

I've always like Sternberg's style, and his approach to presenting material in different ways to try to match students' particular learning styles. This text is a pared down version of his main intro book, but does not suffer from this treatment. I find it palatable, and my students report it as easy to use, easy to understand, and at least moderately entertaining. It's hard, when bombarded by the huge array of research and theory that exist in psychology today, to know what to keep in, and what to leave out. Sternberg has a good recipe, for a lovely, leavened bread of learning.

Don't waste your money.
Lesson One in Financial Planning: Don't waste money. If you know absolutely nothing about investing and planning, then this book is for you.

Alternative title: "Financial Planning For High School Freshman"

Case-in-point, the reader must slog through 290 pages to get to chapter 16 titled, "Risk & Reward". And then, (drum roll, please!) we get this gem, "Sound investment management principals dictate that the investor should almost never invest in just one asset class to the exclusion of all others". WOW, that's worth every penny of my ($). THANKS!

Bottom line, if you're in the financial services business and you need this book...it's time to rethink that career choice.
