This is a great reference book for someone looking for information about the Ukraine. It includes two color maps, an excellent table of contents (easy to find what you need! ) and a lot of very informative tables. :-)

Great book for business travelers. The only up to date book that I can find, give beneficial information that is very helpfull for your travel.

For any reader that loves Sherlock Holmes or any type of mystery, this is the perfect book for you. This book has many stories that create intrigue in your mind. Because this is a Sherlock Holmes novel, it has the obvious characteristics of Sherlock Holmes, the keen observation and the bizarre cases. I have read this book twice and the stories still kept my attention. This book is NOT boring. Along with being a great read, this book has English easy enough for younger students to understand. I highly recommend this book for any person who likes mysteries.

Sumner-Gearing Class Destroyers by Robert Sumrall

Although there are numerous narratives that describe the captivity experience, Robert Doyle does an outstanding job of bringing various captivity experiences together. Whether the person was a captive during the French & Indian Wars, the Civil War or World War II, Robert Doyle does an wonderful job of describing these various experiences. A must read for anyone interested in the human captivity experience. I might even suggest that this book could be viewed as the definitive book on describing the captivity experience.

On the plus side, this is the only comprehensive look at US Military escapes available. It ranges from the American Revolution to our experiences in Beirut and Somalia. It's extraordinarily well researched and documented, with nearly 50 pages worth of sources listed. On the minus side, it's sort of an anecdotal look at escapes, and sort of a scholarly historical study. There's just enough of a first hand account given to gain your interest, but then the author trails off and heads somewhere else. The author is very repetitive, providing the same thoughts several times in a chapter, and sometimes across several chapters. There is also a fair bit of extraneous material, from the Underground Railroad to the experiences of foreign POWs in US custody. Interesting areas, but not related to the book's title. There is some great information here, but you have to do some slogging to get it. I'd recommend you buy the book, mark the references of the more interesting first-hand accounts, and then read those books for the more in-depth look at an individual escape.

"Great Escapes" sounds like a collection of exciting escape stories, but you might be disappointed if you buy it for that purpose - most of the individual stories are one page long or less. It's a scholarly look at every documented escape by an American from the frontier wars until the present, and the psychology of the escapers. If you're into the escape genre, this should be a great reference for the big picture and a huge listing of related books. Here's an overview:

With apologies to the Bard, but, to escape or not to escape, that is the question. Robert Doyle does an outstanding job of describing a subject that does not get much publicity unless it is in a movie that usually is all glamour and fiction and nothing near the truth. This book is a wonderful introduction to describing how man reacts to the loss one's basic right, the right of freedom. Many take freedom for granted, and it takes the harsh reality of imprisonment to make many realize what they have lost. I am a prisoner, do I risk death and try to escape? Or do I sit and wait and hope to be freed? A wonderful book on the subject of "escape."

This book brings uncountable information not only about network operating systems, but also about network hardware. It is very easy to be read. But if you really want to learn about networks, this must not be the only book to buy, of course. Since it is written in an easy language, it can be read not only by the ones who already works with networking, but also by the ones who are willing to enter this field.

This book provides an excellent treatment of network fundementals from the perspective of a person designing or repairing networks. It is a good book for a person with little or no network experience.

However, there are limitations to the book that are not apparent from the description. First, the book is primarily about Novell networks. If you are looking for an in-depth treatment of other networks, this is not the book for you. Second, the specific hardware and software recommendations are few and far between for a book of this type.

I recommend this book for people wanting to learn about installing and repairing networks, particularily Novell networks. Just be aware of its limitations.

This book has left a bizarre legacy. Que's "Upgrading and Repairing Networks, Second Edition" is written by a different author (Terry Ogletree, though it bears Scott Mueller's name in significantly larger type), and its true sequel ("Upgrading and Troubleshooting Networks" by Craig Zacker) is published by Osborne. One can only imagine the intrigue that gave birth to these two rival heirs, and one can only wish that such events had not taken place, as this book is far better than either of its descendents.

Though a few years past its prime, Craig Zacker and Paul Doyle's "Upgrading and Repairing Networks" remains one of the best, broadest, most authoritative and most comprehensive guides to local area networking in print. Published prior to the certification frenzy, this book was designed to teach the journeyman technician both the theory and practice needed to perform effectively in a crisis situation. Subjects covered range from "the stuff in every book" (like the OSI model, hardware, and a plus/minus analysis of operating systems) to arcane but incredibly useful information for those new to the care and feeding of LANs (such as a chapter each on UPSes and tape drives).

I strongly urge beginners to the networking field to put in the extra effort necessary to get this book; its scope all but guarantees that you'll learn new and valuable information, and its tone and style make this knowledge fairly painless to obtain. Seasoned networking professionals might also consider picking this one up (especially at marketplace prices)... that is, if the copy they've relied on since 1996 has worn out.

This is an excellent book of the Cyprus economy. The author gives the reader a general understanding of the background of Cyprus; history, culture, demographics. Following this, the book introduces the reader to the economy of the island. A very useful book for someone interested in the prosperity of the island, as a business man or investor.

Before flying and working in the Marshall islands, the only information that I had about them was that it was a cluster of islands far from any remote western civilization. The only geographic information that I knew was that the highest point was the bridge in the middle of the island. Country Review dramatically helped me in preparation for my wonderful encounter with such an interesting and mysterious culture. Since my position entailed a great deal of work on the environmental factors of the islands, Country Review greatly prepared me by explaining the marine and ecological problems that the islands are facing. In addition, this book explained the background of the government system (i.e. levels of power and political views within the country and its ties to neighboring countries including the US). I think that this book did an exquisite job of preparing me for my work and I have recommended it to several colleagues that are preparing to work in the islands this year. It is an excellent tool to have when traveling there.
