Bush Cuts Taxes, Helps Rich; Loftons Cut Red Tape, Help Rest
One of Amazon's customer reviewers seems to think that a hardhearted middleclass person such as I is shafting the rest of "society" by using the advice in "The Medi-Cal Advantage" to save the family home. So WHAT if I save it "just" for my heirs? Look what the Little Bush Kid inherited!!! The majority of "society's" wealth is held by silver spooners like George W. Bush, who as governor or Texas, vetoed every health bill that came across his desk.

I thank whatever gods may be for something written in extremely clear language in a format that makes reference and cross-reference exceedingly simple. Within 15 minutes I had clear answers to 4 or 5 questions that had been plaguing me for years! Even the size and larger print facilitates ease of use by those elders without someone to handle for them the red tape involved in obtaining long-term care. My own experience is that within 1-2 paragraphs the book delivers everything the chapter description promises in the Table of Contents.

This book has made me eager to investigate the other books written by the Lofton family members. As an aside, book promotion really pays off: I cut out a clipping with a photo of the authors and a brief description of the book. I procrastinated for a year, but recently ran across the clipping and checked to see if it was still available.

READ IT---and save your house, your money and-perhaps most important-your PEACE OF MIND.

Medi-Cal Advantage Helped Me Better Plan for The Future
The Medi-Cal Advantage really helped open my eyes to the need for my family and me to plan better for our future.

Before reading this book I never knew that at age 40 I need to buy long-term care insurance NOW. I thought long-term care insurance was for old people. Frankly, I never really thought about it. This book showed I need to not only think about my financial future but I need to do something now while I'm young and healthy.

One reviewer (John from Glendale, CA) said that the book helps the rich get on Medi-Cal. If in fact, as John says, Medi-Cal is not the best way to go, why would a rich person want to be in a Medi-Cal bed? Clearly, given other options, they wouldn't. It's not about saving the home for an inheritance as John mentioned. It's about saving the home in case the sick person comes back to it or so their husband or wife can have a place to stay while their spouse is in a nursing home. I wouldn't want an old person worrying about being tossed out on the street at a sad time when they have a spouse ill and in a nursing home.

I found the Medi-Cal Advantage to be a book for the average person whose biggest asset is their home. In an ideal world we should all buy long-term care insurance while we're young. But maybe the average person does not know about such insurance or can't afford it. My take on the book is that it is allowing the average income (not the rich) Californian to save their home when long-term care is needed.

Society does not benefit when someone loses their home to pay for nursing home care. This book shows people how to get help and not die penniless and without dignity. I imagine there are literally millions of people in California who have only their homes and a modest/moderate pension. If this book shows them how to save their assets and get help, then more power to them.

I'm glad there is a book that helps people not lose everything just because they need help. I'm glad I read The Medi-Cal Advantage because as a result my family and I will be better prepared when we get old.
