New Edition.
Even more helpful than edition 3, and I didn't think that possible.

I Came Back from Bataan
Published in Paperback by Ambassador-Emerald, Intl. (01 October, 1997)
Authors: James Donovan Gautier, Robert L. Whitmore, and Bob Whitmore
Amazon base price: $9.99
Average review score:

Excellent, moving, interesting, firstperson story
Sgt. Gautier was given some unusual assignments while a prisoner of the Japanese, and he was fortunate to have survived the Death March, prison camp and the voyage to Japan. He gives a gripping account of his experiences, and also provides us insight into the lives of the PoWs after their returned to the States.

This is a good book. Anyone interested in learning what it was like to be a prisoner of war under the Japanese will find it intriguing.

How true that this books is and how real it was.
This book was one that out of all of the books about the Death March of Bataan, was the most vived. This man came to my school and old us how real that this war that most people just talk about, was so real! This man went through so much and survived it and then went through it again, just to tell people about it. I think that it was a very honorable thing to do.

Digimon TCG Book
For Digimon fan(atics) like me, this book is very helpful. Not so much for the "let's see if I got this card" kind of thing. It's more of a pictorial reference for me. Plus, if you just want to "have" the cards without spending too much money, they're all right here. A peek at the new cards is in the back, including Season 2 Digimon. In all honesty, this book is already outdated because all new sets are out. If you're looking for quick picture reference, this is the book for you.

Volcanoes: Passion and Fury

Full of passion - and MORE!
I first became aware of the work of the O'Mearas through an article in Parade magazine (3/14/99). I immediately ordered their book and was not disappointed. Filled with incredible photography and awe-inspiring text, the authors have not only captured the majesty and mystery of volcanoes around the world, but have filled this book with a plethora of passion and beauty. This is one of those rare books that combines scientific fact with scientific wonder that both engages and mesmerizes the reader. The storytelling is first rate, the information is up-to-date, and the photos are some of the finest to be found anywhere. Whether you are a confirmed volcanologist or a casual observer of these natural wonders, this is a book you will turn to time and time again. This is a certified 5-star book - a "must have" for any home or public library!

Teachers should know how people learn
Perhaps this may be preaching to the choir, but the people who are reading this book probably already know how people learn. The people who need to read this book are the bad, burned out teachers who fail in their role as educators. With that in mind, I believe that this book has a lot to say to many. Unfortunately, what it said, I already knew. Research done by John Dewey and Howard Gardner demonstrated a lot of what this research has to say already.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this book dealt with misconceptions. Every students that walks into a classroom, walks into the room with misconceptions. Teachers give the students facts that dispute these misconceptions, but rarely replace the misconceptions. It is only when teachers make students active in disproving a misconception that the students actually internalize the truth. This is where the American educational system fails miserably. For example, most teenagers still believe impeachment means removal from office. When you prove Bill Clinton was never removed from office, they can actually see evidence that disputes their misconception. How else could we have proven the Earth was not flat before space travel? Demonstrating through learning which required thinking to prove a misconception wrong.

New Theatre Quarterly 27: Volume 7, Part 3
Published in Paperback by Cambridge University Press (22 August, 1991)
Authors: Clive Barker and Simon Trussler

Strangers on a Bridge
This is a forgotten Cold War gem!... Anyone with an interest in Cold War history, spies, and the law will find this book great reading. It tells the story of James Donovan (in his own words), a prominent New York attorney in the late 1950s, who was asked by the government to defend Rudolf Abel, an extremely successful Soviet spy who operated in the New York city area. The book is part diary, part biography and part spy narrative. You get to see the conflict that he goes through as a former Naval officer and the whirlwind he gets caught up in. What makes this different from other books is that it was written very soon after the events occurred. His trip to Berlin is one of the most interesting features of the book because you get an eyewitness account of the city at the height of the tensions between the Soviets and the U.S.
