Fabulous!
I acted on Kathleen's review and bought the book. Of the five yoga books and three videos I have purchased in the past month, this is by far the best organised and most well presented.

For an absolute beginner like me, its clear, uncluttered and unintimidating format is essential.

There are ten lessons. You start with lesson one. Once that has been conquered, you progress to lesson two, alternating them. And so on.

There is no pretentious impossible to pronounce jargon. This, for a beginner, is distracting, meaningless and unnecessary.

If a posture is challenging, she says so while encouraging you in your progress. She does not make it look so easy that you wonder if the persons in the photographs are contortionists and you are just a stiff lump.

The photographs are large and clearly illustrate the postures.

The suggested meal plan to accompany the exercise regimen is very easy to adapt to one's likes, dislikes and budget and does not require any expensive shopping excursions to fancy food markets.

I appreciate most the clear progression of lessons that are challenging yet doable and are of reasonable length for the working person.

After one week I am on lesson two and I am already feeling more flexible and confident that at last I have found a programme that I can and will stick to. I am looking forward to my fabulous shape and I know that it will happen because I am already feeling the difference in my clothing. (Particularly around the waist)

FABULOUS FEELING WHENEVER!
This book truly is sensational. Whether you want to lose weight, improve body shape, firm muscles, increase flrexibility, or simply FIND A WELCOME ESCAPE FROM THE INSANE AND INHUMAN STRESSES OF EVERYDAY LIFE! THIS BOOK is for you! Add it to your shopping cart now! Now, I tell you!

As a devotee of Hatha (physical) Yoga for some 6 months now, I've searched high and low for great books which I can introduce to friends just starting out and yet also appreciate at my stage of advancement.

This book is the best I've found in 6 months of earnest searching!

The clearly set out lesson plans guide you as to how much to do and how to incorporate Yoga into everyday life without retreating to mountain solitude or throwing your 'real-life' schedule completely out of whack!

The pictures are wonderful as they show each step of the movement progression (rather than just the maximum position as is the case with maany other books!)

Breathing for each exercise is also included (VERY helpful for maximising effectiveness!)as are Barbara's own motivating hints and tips for both beginners and advanced students.

The diet plan and accompanying notes at front and back of the book will keep you on track to weight loss and muscular dexterity if you decide to use Yoga as an entire fitness program.

However, by far the greatest highlight of this book is the content, and the great ease with which it can be incorporated into your life routine. I am a full time student and part time secretary and waitress, extremely busy, but I spend one hour per night on my yoga while watching my favourite TV.This book strips away the mysticism and gets right down to the benefits. A session with Barbara Currie will open your body, mind, and soul and leave you refreshed, relaxed, REVITALISED! As she says, when you begin Yoga "you realise the brilliant stretches go systematically through your whole body, releasing tensions that may have been lingering for years..."

I cannot recommend it highly enough. Change your physicality, your flexibility, your life, even! Feel the best that you've felt in years, and gain that sense of achievement that comes from knowing you are truly doing something worthwhile for yourself!

BUY THE BOOK! BUY THE BOOK! BUY THE BOOK! BUY THE BOOK! BUY THE BOOK! BUY THE BOOK! PUHLEEEEEEEASE! BUY THE BOOK!

The Blues in Gray
The Blues in Gray is a very readable account of the Republican Blues service in coastal Georgia with exciting battles taking place on the Ogeechee River at Fort McAllister south of Savannah, Georgia. William Daniel Dixon was 23 when he began his private journal which he kept throughout his Confederate Service. He was a native of Savannah and lived his entire life there. The editor, Roger Durham, has done an excellent job making Dixon's voice heard. I am Dixon's great granddaugher and am delighted that this primary material is available to readers and scholars.

A very enlightening book
I found this book to be very enlightening. It makes you look inside yourself and think. It also helps to restore some lost faith.

I couldn't put the book down until it was finished. I thought I had figured out the ending but was totally surprised when I got there. You needn't be just a religous person to read this, it is for all.

A very good book indeed. I would recommend it.

Over the ocean to Paris, or, Ted Scott's daring long distance-flight

One of the best of the early avaiation series books.
PLOT IN A NUTSHELL: Upright, hardworking-but-poor orphan Ted Scott dreams of a career in aviation while he toils away at his menial job in the mammoth plant of the Devally-Hipson Aero Corporation. His foster father, Eben Browning, was swindled by Brewster Gale, so Ted beats up both of Gale's obnoxious sons a couple of times (An act repeated in most of the other stories as well. You'd think they'd learn to steer clear of Ted!). He then impresses/saves a couple of rich (and apparently very lonely) businessmen, Walter Hapworth and Paul Monet, who wine and dine him and then send him to flying school. After a series of aerial adventures both at school and in the service of the Post Office, one of the rich guys builds him a plane, Ted makes a grueling solo flight to Paris and becomes a world famous hero.
THE END

Comments: The Ted Scott series was written to cash in on the aviation craze that swept the nation after "Lucky Lindy" made his famous flight. This story is so close to recounting that flight and Ted Scott so closely resembles Charles Lindbergh, it's a wonder Lindy didn't sue for royalties!
The Syndicate must have had it's ghosts working overtime on this volume, since it hit the stands not long after Lindy landed in Paris! Aviation stories had become a staple for "Boys" series' starting not long after Wilbur & Orville made the first flight, however, there were several other aviation series started around this time (Andy Lane, Slim Tyler, Randy Starr among others) but, for my money, the Ted Scott series is superior to them all.
This story is well written (surprisingly so, considering the fact that it was rushed into print). It carries the reader along with the right blend of action, adventure and a bit of mystery. I don't know if kids back then were smarter but the prose is certainly superior to that which is written to the same age group today.
Ted is a likable hero; loyal, brave, intelligent and self-effacing to a fault and, despite the fact that Ted has amazingly bad luck in the air, his adventures aren't too improbable.

Incredible!!
... This book is excellent; definately one of the top three of the series. The action starts on page 1 and doesn't let up until the book is finished. Hunting For Hidden Gold has perhaps the best mystery out of all of the books in the series and is written quite well unlike most of the books put out after the early 1950s. The book is very exciting, as quite often Frank and Joe are chasing, or being chased by, the criminals. Definately one of the best, no Hardy Boys fan should miss this one.

Exiting, Fun, and a little Scary!
If you like to explore secret passage ways or disguise yourself as someone else, if you like to go on adventures and fight the bad guy while solving a mystery, than this is the book for you. I have read several of the Hardy Boys Mysteries that happened before this and this was one of my favorites! Not only will you read just how the boys escape from the bad guys but also you can learn some nice, cunning tricks to make your enemy run!

A book review of Hunting for Hidden Gold by Alyssa Laspesa
Recommendation - This book is an exciting thrill packed mystery novel. I recommend this book to anyone 13 years or older. It contains thrills, suspense, and many unpredictable close calls. If you are adventurous this book will hold your interest. "She may drown" Frank thought fearfully. The boys were very adventurous and brave to swim after the drowning animals. Another reason would be that the Hardy boys are heroes. "Look out!" Frank cried out. He grabbed Joe's arm and both boys leaped ahead in the nick of time. No matter difficult the situation, they never get hurt. They always come out the good guys. The Hardy boys think over each clue carefully so they out smart everyone. In conclusion, if you like a mystery novel where the main characters end up heroes, read this book.

Better Than The Original Edition
This review concerns the revised 1967 edition. Mr. Hardy asks Frank and Joe to "break into" the house of a neighbour and retrieve a secret invention to prevent it from being stolen by a gang of thieves he is currently investigating. Later, at a party at Chet's home, Joe is kidnapped at the stroke of midnight. Frank, along with some friends, must find Joe and learn why he was kidnapped; as well, the Hardy's have to keep the gang from stealing the invention. Personally, I preferred this edition to the original. The original edition was better written; although, that is true in most cases. However, I found that revised edition had a more interesting mystery and it had a lot more action. I don't consider this book to be one of the best of the series, but it is far from being one of the worst.

An Average Book
This review concerns the original 1931 edition. At the stroke of midnight, Joe is kidnapped from a party at the Morton farm and Frank and his chums set out, not only to find Joe, but to discover why he was kidnapped. I'd more accurately give the book a rating of 3.5 stars. The writing, like with all previous volumes, is excellent and the mystery is alright, but the book doesn't quite live up to the intriguing title. Mr. Hardy does not make an appearance in the book as he is said to be on a case out West and, in my opinion, his omission only hurts the story. Most readers would probably not rate this book as one of their favorites in the set, but they probably wouldn't rate it as one of their least favorites either.

Midnight Madness
The odd thing about this book is that all the action occurs at the stroke of twelve midnight. The book starts with the Hardys breaking into a house, with Mr. Hardy's permission! They take a top-secret invention to hide for the owner. This is when the action begins. Then while at a party, Iola spots someone snopping around the brothers' car. When Joe goes after him, he ends up being kidnapped. Follow the adventure as Frank tries to find his brother and crack the case! This is one of my personal favorites!

A very good mystery.
I liked this book because it was a very good mystery. The characters, Frank, Joe, Fenten Hardy, Pretzel Pete, and the smugglers made this book interesting and enjoyable to read. Never a dull moment, the author made me feel as though I was right inside the house, looking at every move the characters made.

The book ended when Fenten Hardy came home with his sons and caught the lead smuggler. You'll have to read it for yourself to get all of the details.

The best one written!
The Plot: One day shortly before summer vacation, the Boys, along with Chet, Biff and Jerry, are out motorcycling along the Shore Road and decide to investigate the spooky old abandoned Polucca house, high on the cliffs overlooking Barmet Bay. Once inside, they hear a shriek which scares all but Frank and Joe out. The Boys investigate but find nothing. They leave but a storm forces them all back to the house. They hear more shrieks, get locked in and part of the house starts to collapse! They finally get out but have problems with their motorcycles and find their tool kits stolen. They are distracted by a boat chase out on the bay. There are shots from one boat and the other boat explodes!.... Comments: The best story in the canon! A dark, violent tale of smuggling, drugs, kidnapping and murder! None of the other stories can match this one for sheer exciting adventure! I've always thought this tale would make a great Hardy Boys movie. The Boys show plenty of guts and good detective ability in this one. Fenton plays a major role here and he works well with his sons. The gun battle and fight at the climax is the most thrill-packed prose in any Hardy story. If you read only one Hardy Boys book, it should be this one. Rating: Original: A+

An Excellent Book!
This review concerns the revised 1959 edition. Mr. Hardy disappears while investigating a group of smugglers. Frank and Joe suspect that a strange, old house on a cliff has a connection to the mystery and get some of their friends to help them investigate the place. This book is one of the best of the series; it is loaded with action, suspence and mystery. It doesn't take you long to get into the book and the last half of the book was especially good. Although, as good as this book is, the original edition, which is nearly the same, is even better and is the version that I would recommend reading because the writing is more rich and descriptive. While the original may be longer, with a book this good you don't mind that. Whichever version you decide to read, the original or the revised, you will not be disappointed with this book.

An Interesting Book
This review concerns the revised 1962 edition. Counterfeit money is being circulated throughout Bayport and Frank and Joe try to track down the culprits. While not as good as the original edition, this book is still interesting and exciting, with plenty of action. Read the original edition if you can, but if not the revised edition should not disappoint you.

The Best Hardy Boys Book
My favorite Hardy Boys book is the Secret of the Old Mill. I loved the part when Ken Blake fell into the river and Frank and Joe jumped into the river to save Ken Blake. I also loved the part when Frank, Joe, and Chet were in the Sleuth and Frank pulled the wires from the engine to stop the boat. I think that the Secret of the Old Mill is the best Hardy Boys book I have read.

the action story
Hi my name is Ryan. The Secret of the Old Mill is a really good book.In the story Frank and Joe descover conterfeit $20 dollar bills and a company called Eleckton is making them. The hardys drive over in the Queen and Frank and Joe descover a secret door. Will Frank and Joe solve the conterfeit mystery? Read the book to find out.I recomend this book for people who like stories with a lot of excitement.

Really 4.5 stars
This book really deserves 4 1/2 stars but I'm nice so that's why I gave it 5 stars. This book always has a twist or turn. It starts off that Frank and Joe are assigned by Chief Collig to find out why their's trouble in Shantytown which is a town of shacks( wooden broken down houses). So then there's a bank robbery and then their best friends Biff and Chet are kidnapped. They meet Alf at Shantytown. It's action pace with danger at every turn. One minute they jump overboard a ship to helping their friend after he fractures his ankle sliding down a steep hill. They have to trust their instincts in this suspenseful mystery. Can't say more or I'll reveal the end. Read The Great Airport Mystery( Hardy Boys #9) or The House on the Cliff( Hardy Boys #2). Also read the Harry Potter series. This book was a very suspenseful book. It's very adventurious and a very good book.

Audio tape edition read by Bill Irwin
These books are absolutely delightful on audio tape. I grew up reading all the Nancy Drew books but, true to stereotype, never read any of The Hardy Boys. As the mother of two little boys (first and third grade) I began exploring these in our read-aloud time every evening. The boys LOVE them but the whole series (50+ books) is a bit more than I want read as an adult and a daunting quantity of material even for very advanced readers so I was delighted to come across these audio tapes. Bill Irwin does an excellent job of reading the books, treating their slightly dated language and manners with complete respect. The tapes are unabridged although still only two tapes long. My only gripe is the wait for the series as the publisher appears to be releasing only two books every six months or so!

The FOUND Best Book On Earth
It a great boook! I recommened it to everyone who loves The Hardy Boys like me! It was a great book piled with mysetery and suspence.

Suspense, Mystery
This was a fairly good Hardy Boys book. Can't say it is the best though because other books have more suspense, mystery. However, this book was the first and therefore did not need to be the best. Frank and Joe Hardy are the sons of celebrated detective Fenton Hardy. Apparently even though it does not go into details, they just helped them on a case. They hear that the Tower Mansion, one of the bigges houses in town has been robbed. They find out that the suspected is one of their best friend's dad Henry Robinson. Using a lot of brainwork because of a deficit of details they figure out the solution of the mystery. To find out what it is, read it.

The First of a Classic Series
I first read this book when I was twelve years and it was one of the first of many Hardy Boys I read. Unfortunately, in my youth I read the 1960's version, but this version, written in the 1920's, is much much better (I'm 39 now and read it to my son).

I think the most interesting thing about this book is that a lot of the problems that today's parents/teachers/politicians complain about are the main topic in this story. Without giving away the storyline, it has car jacking, crime, violence, false judgments of youths, neglected children and murder. I guess it just goes to show that the good old days weren't always what they seem to be.

Briefly the storyline is as follows. A rich person house is broken into and jewelry, money, and bonds are stolen. The Hardy boys investigate and find out that this burglary is related other things going on in town. Eventually, the boys with the help of their father solve the mystery.

A nice bonus for this book is that for those of you who always wanted to know about Franklin W. Dixon, a very brief biography is presented.

The book that began a dynasty!
Kudos to Applewood books for re-issuing this original text Hardy Boys book that started a line- up of great stories for youth that are still being published today. Most younger baby-boomers will not remember this story in its original form, as the text was substantially revised in the latter 1950's. This earlier, more hearty (no pun intended) story makes the revision pale by comparison. Applewood's reissue of Tower Treasure puts the series in its proper context. This story is truly the reader's introduction to Frank and Joe Hardy, and their mysteries. More than just nostalgia, this book is fun to read. If you read it to your children, you may have to put some of it in proper historical context, but that's part of the fun. I have found all of the original-text stories much more entertaining and substantial than the revised editions. Applewood has released six original-text Hardy's so far. I own them all, and highly recommend each one. In fact, I plan to purchase any of the original text Hardy stories Applewood will issue.
