Colorful & charming book for the beginning reader.
The Color Wizard

Wizard is tired of his gray life. He's a dull shade of brown when the book begins and everything around him is a dreary shade of gray. One day he decides to pick up a can of paint and goes wild. He paints his castle and everything surrounding it including dragons and any other creature that crosses his path. He even goes so far as to paint the sun a cheery shade of yellow. When the book nears its end Wizard is as colorful and animated as his surroundings. After this massive project Wizard stands back to admire his beautiful new world and takes a much needed rest!

This is a cute, brightly illustrated story that's perfect for the beginning reader. The text is lively and easy enough for my six year old to read entirely by himself without any moments of frustration. The illustrations of the wizard, his castle, dragons and other assorted magical creatures enchanted both of my children. This one's a keeper!

a remarkably satisfying easy-reader
I picked up a copy of THE COLOR WIZARD as I was searching for a short read-aloud story to accompany a pre-school lesson on color. I was SO surprised to find such a poetic and not-in-the-least-awkward text! Wow! Add to that, the ever-versatile Dillons' illustrations and, well, you get one of the highest quality (yet in tune with kids' sensibilities) books of this type that I'VE ever read... RECOMMENDED! The kids LOVED it! (parents, too)

Wizard colors your world with magic
Wizard Grays world was dark and gray but then he thought he needs to add some color everywere. So he painted everything and the only gray thing left was his name "Wizard Gray" on the door. An awesome book for teaching kids their colors.

A tale of Christmas magic.
11 year-old Jessica Slocum's wish for a mother for the holiday season results in some wacky, yet endearing, adventures with a mannequin mom named Amelia brought to life by the powers of magic.

"A Mom by Magic" is one of the most wonderful childrens books I've ever read. The storyline is interesting, the illustrations are very unique, and the way the author puts everything into words is perfect. The first time I read this book, I finished it in two days. The second time I read it, I finished it in one day. "A Mom by Magic" is actually that good! Even though this book is currently out-of-print, I suggest you ask Amazon.com to search for it for you. tooey terrific!
I really enjoyed this book, even though it was a children's book. It focuses on a mysterious baby-sitter named Mrs. Tooey and her evil sister Velma, who is obsessed with birds. Although part of the book in which Mrs. Tooey morphs one of her pint-sized charges into a bird to spy on Velma and discover her diabolical plans for destruction with the toxic tar may be a little frightening for the youngest children, all in all, it's a hoot. :)
