Now a few years old, but still a useful introduction for anyone who wants to get a better sense of Internet technologies and the programming process. My copy has been making the rounds among various e-commerce clients, content creators, and publishers.

Informative book for non-programmers about Java
I am not a programmer, but I wanted to understand Java. The authors started with the fundamentals of the history of programming to provide the reader some background, before jumping to Java. I found the book very imformative about the many terms of the internet: Applet, HTML, Platform etc. The authors developed an easy to understand evolution of program languages from monolith to Java--quite a spand, but successfully convey to the reader. I would highly recommand this book for anyone using the internet, and wants to understand the fundamentals.

What is JAVA? This book will explain it all!
The title says it all! Making "sense" of JAVA. What is it, and how can knowing this help you and your company? Perhaps you are not a Manager, but just a curious web surfer who's wondering what all the hubbub is about. This book is for anyone who asks the question, "what is JAVA". As an added bonus, the book describes thoroughly the inner workings of a company's computer setups, LAN, WAN, dumb terminals, it's all here, explained in easy-to-understand language. The book fills a real need for a down-to-earth information source, without all the "how-to's" of other JAVA books

The Works of Jonathan Edwards (American Religious Thought of the 18th and 19th Centuries)

In My Top Ten All-Time Favorite Theological Works
This Hendrickson edition is a remake of the Banner of Truth Edition from 1984 (a 2 Vol. Set). All of the works of Edwards are included.

In this work Edwards' memoirs, sermons, theological treatises, miscellaneous discourses, and short observations are included. Everything and anything written by Edwards (including his most famous works and the lesser known short works) are present. This is the ultimate primary text to own from Edwards.

Brace yourself. Edwards can write some of the most simplistic theological thoughts and some of the most complicated theological thoughts and have one follow the other in a single paragraph. This volume will fill your days with hours of great reading, most of which you will have to reread, and then read again to get a grasp of what Edwards is trying to say. There are certain works, herein, that I have read a dozen times and have yet to fully grasp what Edwards is communicating (though that is no cause to ever stop trying).

Edwards discusses issues such as the human will, freedom, predestination, the attributes of God, sin, original sin, salvation, the Church, marriage, love, time, etc. Even topics that one would never give much thought to, such as indetermination, are included in these pages. Edwards has a way with words that can often times be staggering - to think that someone could write in such a manner. If you are wanting to read Edwards' works then here they are all in one text. But I must warn you that these pages will change your thinking and your life forever!

The Mount Everset of Theology!
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said that he was "tempted, perhaps foolishly, to compare the Puritans to the Alps, Luther and Calvin to the Himalayas, and Jonathan Edwards to Mount Everest!" (The Puritans: Their Origins and Successors, p. 355). I concur. Nothing in my library holds such a storehouse of wealth, as do these two hefty tomes. Edwards was a brilliant theologian, a zealous evangelist, an astute philosopher, a warm hearted pastor, and an eye-witness (and one of the primary instruments causing) the first Great Awakening. If you want theology at its richest go to Edwards' "End for Which God Created the World." IF you want a passion for souls, read his "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." If you are interested in well-articulated philosophy at its finest, peruse "The Nature of True Virtue." If you want biography geared to cultivate godliness in your own heart, read "The Life of David Brainerd." If you want pastoral counsel concerning the state of your soul, you will find nothing better than "The Religious Affections." And if you want to know what a REAL revival looks like, study "A Narrative of Surprising Conversions." (And those works are less than half of what is in here!) If my house were burning, I would probably grab for these two books second only to the Bible. To get Edwards is to get theology. So get Edwards!

Nothing More Valuable to a Christian
This is perhaps the most valuable set of books you will ever buy as a Christian. Jonathan Edwards' breathtaking analysis of the things of God will sweep you off of your feet. I have come to this set of books time and time again for insight, profound reflection, and personal renewal. I would challenge you to read the works of Jonathan Edwards, especially if you are an Arminian. Edwards presents the absolute sovereignty of God with impeccable clarity, logic and argument. If read in faith, you will never be the same. Be sure to get this Banner of Truth set, as the Yale set is far too costly.

Biodiversity
The word biodiversity often conjures up visions of tropical rain forests, and for good reason. They contain more species than anywhere else in the world. But, as this lavishly illustrated and well written book attests there is a great deal of biodiversity in the U.S. In fact, U.S. is the richest country in terms of numbers of species for several groups inclulding freshwater mussels and crayfishes. The authors take us through the groups of plants and animals in the U.S. with a combination of natural history descriptions, photographs, maps, and when appropriate, data summaries. The maps are really noteworthy, because they add a great deal to the book both visually and in terms of understanding the patterns. The book is well worthy the cost just for the photos and maps. Later chapters address the patterns of rarity, threats, and protection strategies. In terms of style and content, it rests between David Wilcove's, The Condor's Shadow and Terrestrial Ecoregions of North America: A Conservation Assessment by Taylor Ricketts et al. Precious Heritage belongs on the bookshelves of everyone interested in and concerned about biodiversity in the U.S.

Excellent for both environemtnalist and professionals
This book should be on the shelf of environmentalist interested in biodiversity as well as professional conservation biologists. The authors provide a well written introduction to our understanding of biodiversity and the ways that we measure it. They also provide overviews of the geographic trends in biodiversity, the current threats to this diversity, and offer a perspective on the ways that we proactively maintain this "precious heritage". The book also provides a perspective that allows professional conservation biologists to see their work in a large scale biogeographic framework, and provides some of the data needed to allow scientists to move from writing epitaphs for dying species to proactively conserving diversity.

Of baldness and good friends...
This is a wonderfully funny book, which appeals to all children -- but has a special magic for families affected by cancer. Bruce is a loveable character, who is embarassed when his antlers fall out. His friends offer lots of suggestions, which result in the ridiculous and amusing, made even more comical by the pop-up illustrations. This book was recommended to us by a social worker as her favorite for reading with her children when she lost her hair during a course of chemotherapy treatment. Humor is healing! This book would also be instructional for children (or adults!) who are embarassed by their appearance for whatever reason.

Superb introduction to Virtual Private Networking
When I peurchased this book I was already involved in the deployment of virutal private networks for my organization. I regret that I did not have this book in my possession prior to engaging in such work. Having such knowledge beforehand may have elimenated much frustration and misunderstanding in the implementation of the service. I found the explanations of the various technologies involved were clear and concise. The rationale behind virtual private networks was presented evenly for both service provider and enterprise customer. I would recommend this book to anyone as an introductory lesson in VPNs.

Virtual Private Networking
I find the book very good. It does gives a good introduction into the usage of VPN. However there is still some printing errors and some terms are not defined. E.g. Pg 13 the figure title does not really match the the description on pg. 12. There is also a print error such as Snmer instead of summer. The book is easy to read. It does not discuss too much into detail on the implentation and technical but a general view. It is very adequate and appropriate for VPN beginner . However if the author could provide some gllossary for the abbreviations used would be helpful. For example RADIUS is used throughout the book wiithout explaining what it is.

Great Overview
This is a very good overview/introduction of the VPN world. It targets business and product managers. I particularly liked the overview section. The book is well-written in the sense that it is easy to read and comprehend. It is not a programmer's reference.

There Is a Season
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (2001)
Author: Jonathan Bruce
Amazon base price: $17.95
Average review score:

Excellent source material
Mr. Bruce's contribution to self-aggrandizement turns out to be an excellent resource for both my Advanced Fiction Composition course and my Contemporary Editorial Practices course. In the AFC course, I have my students (when they can stop laughing) rewrite the story. Unlike Mr. Bruce's original, the rewrites must be either interesting or fluent. In my CEP course, I use chapters from the 'novel' as the course final examination. The text is a real curve-breaker though--it is not possible to find 100% of the errors. Truly a tour de force of grammatical incompetence. Encore! Encore!

Rather interesting
This book was a very good first novel by newcomer Jonathan Bruce. I very much enjoyed the action, though the killing did start as early as page 9. The only thing I found offensive in this novel was the reference to some Christian groups as terrorists, though it seems quite self-evident that Mr. Bruce is merely striking out against extremist organization.

Kudos to you, Mr. Bruce, keep writing.

There is a Season for an EXCELLENT book
Bob Sachowzer from Istanbul, Turkey mentioned some very intresting points about your book, Mr. Bruce, I had never assumed you were impling Christianity as a terriost organization, however I found it more likely that your groups were radicals. Remember many groups do things in the name of their gods, even Christians, remember the Crusades?

Well great job Mr. Bruce, can't wait for a second title by you.

This book might help you build a decent chronical.
The Hunter game is a nice addition to anyones WoD collection. This book can help one to build better characers. You know onesa that can actually live for past 60 seconds.

Misnomer, but still good
When I purchased this book, I was expecting something along the lines of a a player's guide or such. What I got, on the other hand, was a sourcebook chock full of information on supernaturals around the world. Be careful that you know what this is before you purchase it. It's an excellent book and I liked it very much, but it was not what I had in mind for a survival guide.

Good book, full of potential story ideas.
I liked this book. Its written from the point of view of the hunters, a different one for each section. The book does not have any game mechanics, its pure story. It begins with a few tips for novice hunters, something you should get your players to read through. Then it goes on to describe each continent. It spends a lot of time discussing the world outside of North America, so if your planning on running a game in a different country then this is the book for you. I liked the fact that since the information is given out by hunters, it is full of various facts that are completely not true, so your players can read through the book and still not have any of the real information. Full of great story potential and well written. A good buy if your going to run a hunter's game.
