Great book for WWII warplane enthusiasts
I have to agree with the previous reviewer - the quality of the photographs of gun stations and aircraft interiors (in modern day color!) is rare and truly gives the reader a different perspective. While not presenting exhaustive histories of the different airplanes featured - it is more a "coffee table" book than a technical reference - they authors have presented an enjoyable overview of the history, characteristics of the planes, fleshed out with personal anecdotes of the gunners who served. Many rare archival documents and photographs are also featured. A good companion volume to "Cockpit" (which I also own)

Close up !
When I went through this book the first time I immediatly noticed a difference with other books of this genre. The amazing quality of the pictures in this book is stunning. Close up fotography is something special and the authors of this book have braught this up to a new level. They took pictures of planes that I've seen in real life as well and these pictures took me back to that moment. The anekdotes of World War 2 veterans make this book even more worthwile and in combination with a similar book (Cockpit) by the same authors this book is a must for airplane and World War 2 enthousiasts. Now you can try to imagine what it was like being a gunner on one of these airplanes, having only a few seconds or less to shoot down your enemy. I hope that there will be more books like these to follow because the quality is rare...

An ideal tool for teaching poetry to high school students.

This is my favorite book on the '109, and I've seen many. It has great photographs of two restored 109's. One is the Mark Hanna restored G-10 on the cover, and the other is a G-2 tropical. My favorite are the closups of the 2,000 HP DB 605D engine showing the huge supercharger and cannon. Also of note are the stories and modern reunion photographs of two aces with this plane, one being #2 ace Gunther Rall. Fantastic. To sum up, a great picture book, but with good text (14 large page small print history at front of book)...not comprehensive as far as blow by blow combat accounts, but a great look at a great plane. Thanks.

A must-have reference book for your computer bookshelf
For any serious user of Windows 95 and for the occasional user, this book is a must-have for your computer library. The title even says "The Most Complete Reference" and it is exactly that. It comes with a CD of useful programs and utlities. As a reference book, I think that Using Windows 95 is tops. It's easy to find what you are looking for and the topics are written so that the average user can understand. No technobabble! I highly recommend this book

a classic fighter flying again
This book is about one of the best fighters of WW II, and has beaultiful color photographs showing details of restaured Spits. We can see clearly all details of the cockpit, wings, engine and fuselage in big photos, with several angles. I really recommend this great book for Spitfire s fan, like me.

Good, unique book, but could've been better
I'm ... only giving it 4 stars. Nijboer and Patterson came up with a great idea, but missed a little in the execution. As a modeler, I'd like to see more details of the entire cockpit, not just the instrument panels. Also, I realize Mr Patterson is an accomplished professional photographer, but I was a little disappointed with the nature of many of the shots. I think he was trying for dramatic lighting effects, but ended up with many parts of the cockpit in dark shadow or nearly washed out by flash. ...

New standard for close up fotography !
I bought Gunner, an illustrated history of world war 2 aircraft turrets and gunpositions (by the same authors) first so I knew what to expect when I bought this book. Cockpit is probably the first book with amazing picture quality and in my eyes the standard for years to come. The pictures of the Hawker Typhoon and the Douglas A-20 Havoc are special to me because they are my favourite World War 2 airplanes. I've seen a few of these airplanes in real life but I didn't have the chance to see the cockpit up close. Because of the pictures of Dan Patterson it is now possible to walk in the footsteps of World War 2 pilots and try to imagine what it was like to fly these airplanes. I hope that the authors of these two magnificent books (Cockpit and Gunner) can find the inspiration to bring out more books like this, because these books are two of the finest in my collection.

Truly Amazing!
Amazing! Long overdue. The colour photography in this book is truly remarkable. I haven't seen such large format colour shots of World War II cockpits before. The photos are so clear and crisp, it's almost like you're sitting there. I've been to a lot of aviation museums and I've always wondered what the cockpits looked like...now I know. This is a must have for pilots, aviation buffs, modellers and anyone interested in World War II aircraft.

Excellent quality, but not as good as it could have been.
American Eagles is a history of the United States Air Force, the world's most powerful air arm, from the Wright Brothers to Desert Storm. It contains many photographs of aircraft that served in World War II and in other conflicts. My favorite section is the one on Experimental planes. But this is not perfect. It does contain photographs of aircraft from the U.S. Air Force Musuem. But most of them are of sections of the aircraft. Only a few are shown complete in the pictures. The book also does contain a history of the musuem, but only a two page writing part and some pictures. For info on the Air Force musuem, don't get this. But for a history of nearly a century of air power, what are you waiting for?

Beautiful photos. Chronicles history of U.S. Air Force
This large beautiful book chronicles the growth and development of the U.S. Air Force as an organization, from the beginnings of flight to the present. It is much more than an air combat book.

The story begins before there was an Army Air Corps, with a history of flight from the pre-Wright Bros. era. The progress in aircraft, the men who built & flew them & the role of air power in military strategy are extensively covered.

The highlights of this book are the hundreds of wonderful color photos from the U.S. Air Force museum. Close-ups of aircraft, engines, cockpits and aviation art take great advantage of this unique resource.

Combat is not ignored however, as the Air Force's role in every major conflict is detailed with many action photos. This is a comprehensive and complete history of the highest quality.

"Advertising Secrets Of Written Word" is much more powerful
I purchased both "Advertising Secrets of The Written Word" and "Triggers" at the same time. Unfortunately I read "Advertising Secrets" first and was very satisfied with it.

Once I started reading "Triggers" it was like reading it all over again, word for word. Sugarman has taken entire chapters from the first book and inserted them into "Triggers".

"Advertising Secrets of the Written Word" covers all of these triggers and a whole lot more, therefore it is a much better book. I love Joe Sugarman's work and enjoy reading his books, but I believe you'll be much more satisfied with the first one.

Hope this helps!

A Powerful Book . . . A Precious Resource . . . Get It!
I've read many marketing and copywriting books. However Joe Sugarman's book Triggers, deserves it's own category. When I first read the cover, off of a full page magazine ad, I new I had to read it because it promised, to teach me how to control the mind of my prospect to motivate, influence and persuade. Well, it more than delivered on it's promise. Now I've never met Mr. Sugarman, but in a minute I'm going to tell you why I feel you should get this very important work. Are you satisified with the response rates you or your clients now receive? Yes? No? Don't Know? Look. . .your bottom line won't increase unless you fully understand what motivates your prospect to buy, what you have to sell. And frankly speaking, the art of influence and persuasion is so very necessary because it reaches down to the very core--at the emotional, very personal level of your prospect. No theory. No BS. This book teaches you how to do it. And it's entertaining too. I have the hardcover, it's number 6704 out of 10,000 books printed in this edition, and it bears Mr. Sugarmans autograph. This book is destined to become a valuable collectors item. I urge you to get your own copy, read it line-by-line, cover-to-cover, and watch how you too, will improve in every aspect of your marketing efforts.

Whatever Joe Sugarman Writes, I Read
While visiting Amazon.com, the site brought up a list of recommended books that matched my interest. Joe Sugarman's TRIGGERS stood out. Without knowing anything more about the book's specific content, sight unseen, I placed by order into the "shopping cart."

You see, I knew about Joe Sugarman from many other legends in the industry. Joe himself is a direct marketing, advertising & sales legend.

I was not disappointed with his book; it was terrific! Easy-reading chapters with real life stories that highlight and epitomize a specific sales theme or technique.

If you are in sales, regardless of what you sell--products, services, ideas--you can't afford to miss this book.
