A new look at Blake
I have always loves Blake - in particular the facsimile editions with Blake's watercolor designs bordering the beautiful copper-plate text, but nowhere have I been struck by the power of his writing to the extent that I have by this volume. The layout that Dr. Diamond has chosen adds immeasurably to the force of Blake's words. The imagery in these passages leaps off the page, and the reader is given a compelling sense of the creative visions that must have inspired Blake to write.

A Wonderful Collection
This is a wonderful collection of Blake's later poems is specifically edited to enhance their therapeutic power and comprehensibility. This anthology, more than any other I have come across, helps to make these obscure works accessible; and the layout and punctuation has deepened my experience of them.

I keep it by my armchair...
I love this book. I keep it by my armchair and open it when there's a quiet moment. And when I do, the power of Blake comes to me and helps me throughout my day. Only Blake speaks with such passion and strength, and his poetry is presented here unadulterated by titles, footnotes or page the poetry in landscape format so that Blake's long lines need not be broken. Whatever your previous experience of poetry, this book will enhance your life in a way that only such a distillation of Blake could achieve

I LOVED DIAMOND OF GREED!!!
Known by his former business associates as "The Barter King Of Radio", Bill Kennedy has written a morality tale which to this reader recalls such celluloid classics as The Natural, Field Of Dreams, Heavan Can Wait, and It's A Wonderful Life.

An enchanting mix of fantasy, slightly idealized reality, and America's favorite pastime, Diamond Of Greed is the "Feel Good Hit" of the new millenium! I urge all good Americans to read it today!

For Love Or Money...
You do not have to know a thing about baseball to enjoy this book. It is the kind of novel that made me look forward to getting to bed just just so I could have my reading time and find out what happens next. If the current big business aspects of our national sports concerns you or if you just want to read a good book - then read this one. I'm on Amazon now just to order copies for friends! P.S. I consider myself a pretty critical reader.

From a NJ fan of baseball and angels...
This is a really interesting idea about how to tell a story that makes a point about how greed has become so dominant in sports and in all of society. The story is set a few years in the future, and it's about how a former baseball player is sent from Heaven back to Earth with special powers that allow him to be the best hitter in history. He uses his ability to win over fans, especially when they find out he has insisted on a long-term contract that pays him comfortably ($500,000 a year) but keeps him from cashing in for the millions that lesser players are earning. Naturally, there are people who don't like his anti-greed stand, and they make life, or rather, the after-life, difficult for him. The author is a former advertising guy who took up writing in retirement as a hobby, and it's obvious that this was a labor of love for him.

Where the Albany Cycle all began
I've read these three novels separately over the years and was happy to see them all neatly packaged in one volume. I couldn't resist the temptation. I hope a second volume which includes the next 3 novels will be out soon.

Kennedy is the Faulkner of Albany. His wonderful set of characters, rich language and compelling story line will endear most anyone to this family saga of growing up in Depression-era Albany. Kennedy focuses on those little items that give the city its richness, and his characters have that sense of noble purpose which carries them through such hard times.

The best literature has to offer.
Read these books and learn about life, love, and loss. Everything you need to know about everything is written right here. Read Kennedy and become enlightened. This is the best literature has to offer.

All-Star Coolbook
I really enjoyed this cookbook, not only because of the recipes, but also the way it was designed. You can look up individual dishes in the back, most of which are creative spins on favorite meals, or you can browse by your favorite sport (as I did). Because of the variety of athletes who contributed, the range of recipes goes from traditional "American" fair like Mickey Mantle's Country Fried Steak to Jaromir Jagr's Czech dish, Chicken Paprikash. I recommend this cookbook no matter what your kitchen skills because none of the dishes are overly complex (though some are far more difficult than others)and there is something for everyone. As an added bonus, proceeds for the book go to the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis and the Women's Sports Foundation. Helping two great causes for buying an excellent cookbook (with some great kitchen shots of the athletes).

Diamonds in the Coalfields
"Diamonds in the Coalfields" is a documentary of life in the 1920's, 30's, and 40's. William Kashatus has done an excellent job of organizing the history of the mining communities, from a perspective of how baseball affected everyone's lives in those happy, glorious years. You can get an estimate of his effort by looking at his detailed reference notes and bibliography at the back of the book. He has devoted a huge amount of time in research and interviews in the writing of this book.
The accuracy of his descriptions is uncanny, for a person who did not "live it", except vicariously, through the eyes of others. My father pitched for the Glen Lyon Condors, in the 1920's. I lived through the era of Zig Najaka, Stan Pawloski, and Bob Duliba, at Newport Twp. High School. This is a personalized view of early baseball history, a meaningful picture for all baseball fans. My complments to William Kashatus for giving us such an accurate picture of those happy times in our lives. He has done a great job of documentation with an entertaining accent to this portrayal of life in the coal towns. I am purchasing additional books for my uncle, brother-in-law, and three sons, who also share an interest in the nostalgia for sports in the Wyoming Valley. (Pennsylvnia)

Title says it all
This book is a great introduction to ballanced orthogonal experimental designs. The so-called Scientific Method (tweak one parameter while holding the other variables fixed) is not used that much where there are complicated interactions between variables. This Designed Experimental (DOX) approach is used more frequently in the Semiconductor industry. This approach envolves a series of experiments where all the variables are potentially changed form one trial to another, but in such a way that one can resolved the effects of one variable from another AND understand interactions and non-linear effects. It is simply the best way to optimize a complicated system.

OK, if you have SAS or RS/1 or ...packages you may ask yourself "why bother learning the theory." I would say for 2 reasons - if you need to manually intervene or supplement an existing experiment AND seeing some more designs that are very effecient (John's 3/4 designs and Plackett-Burman designs) for initial screening that is not ususally part of the packages.

Compared to Box, Box, Hunter this book is easier to read, has a huge summary fold out sheet and is geared to a practicing engineer or scientist not a professional mathematician. Best introduction and most likely the only book you will ever need on the subject.

Technical and Well Rounded
This book is basically a textbook, as it contains a lot of the details that are common to incorporation in any state. While the authors have stayed general enough to remain in an interstate appeal, they have still covered almost every legal aspect of incorporating, WITHOUT giving advice as to what you should do. Also covered are: sole proprietorships and limited liability coporations/partnerships and more. Good buy if you want a good cursory understanding of business vehicles. I recommend it. Please vote if this did help you.

Covers important topics, a little confusingly written
It's really helpful in that it covers a bunch of the basic points. Ironically, I wish it focused on the tax implications of losses (to be expected in startups) as much profits :). I also found some of the writing confusing -- like in covering LLCs, it compares some facets of them to other corporate before really explaining how they work. But I liked the book, thinking it basically helps me have a more informed conversation with a lawyer, which I think is essential (since regulations change so fast, and can be state-specific).

An excellent addition to any entrepreneur¿s library
This book is excellent! I have a Ph.D. and an MBA and have taken a lot of courses and read lots of books, business and otherwise. This text summarizes a lot of important information into a small book. This is not for simpletons, rather it gives important information for anyone wishing to incorporate.

The diamond of Jannina: Ali Pasha 1741-1822
Published in Unknown Binding by Cape ()
Author: William Plomer

this one ought to be in print
If you believe that the biography of a merciless tyrant could make a good story, then this is definitely it. Plomer's writing is straight-foward which makes the book a great read for teenagers. Furthermore, the author is convincing with respect to the authenticity of the story he presents. He references the diaries of French and British correspondents to Ali's court, in addition to the writings of various historians who visited Ali Pasha during his rule (most notably, Lord Byron). To Plomer's credit, this is not a dry presentation of the Pasha's exploits. Plomer also examines the rich history of the area (Albania and northeastern Greece) and provides detailed desciptions of its peoples and their habits. For anyone who is interested in 19th century Balkan history, this is mandatory reading.

the mystery of the deadly diamond
The Mystery of the Deadly Diamond
By Elizabeth Howard

I read The Mystery of the Deadly Diamond, by Elizabeth Howard. I enjoyed the book mainly because it was right to the point. It wouldn't try to throw out metaphors and stuff like that to confuse me. For example, on page 73, "Perhaps she was thinking about the fist or plotting her next crime. Whatever the reason, she was deeply and unmistakably absorbed in her own thoughts." That section told me exactly (and clearly) what she was doing. The book also made it obvious that Marcel loved and cared for Paris deeply. Simply stated on page 125, "I was worried about you because I love you Paris."\

The theme is how Paris Mackenzie tries to find out why a missing diamond relates to her and her family. Also, things are rarely what they seem to be. I definitely agree with that statement. In life, you may think you know something, but it turns out it's the total opposite.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. It's a fast read that makes you keep turning pages. The print is also large enough so that people with poor eyesight can read it no hastle. It was also somewhat short which is normally good. If your looking for a good book that doesn't beat around the bush, it's a must read. This is the best mystery I have ever read. I think a mystery needs the following components to make it good: an interesting plot, a brave hero or heroine, and a surprise ending. The Mystery of the Deadly Diamond has all of those qualities. I think anyone who's looking for a fun and exciting mystery, look no further than The Mystery of the Deadly Diamond.

Chamberlain's "20th Maine" had a double!
This book is a "sleeper." I would put it just a shelf below Pullen's Civil War classic, "The 20th Maine." The book doesn't just describe heroic battles, but also camplife, life on the march, and politics at unit and state levels. There are many anecdotes both humorous and tragic. Though no single personality shines through as in the 20th, the regiment itself takes on the character of a damned tough Yankee. When you put this book down, you will have a strong affection for the "old sweats" who brought that haunting smile to Lincoln's last photograph. The Union forever
