Oh, what a relief!
After reading the book, I am overwhelmed with relief that I'm probably not losing my mind, and if I am, there may be some solutions. I am 40 years old, and for the past 2 years, I have been frustrated by my increasing inability to recall important events in my daily life. Anyone who knows me knows this is so out of character for me. Thanks to Dr. Devi, now I know I may not have to live like this. Not that I never heard of hormone replacement before, but Dr. Devi's clear explanations of the more natural, yam based hormones have definitely eased my anxieties about this type of treatment.

I recommend this book wholeheartedly to every woman with questions or concerns about hormone replacement therapy.

Useful and empowering.
After reading this book, I was finally able to have a proper talk with my gyne MD without feeling intimidated. I am 39 with cold sweats at nights for two years. My memory was a family joke. Words popped out of my mouth that I did not mean to say. My gyne kept saying there was nothing wrong with me, that my blood looked fine. Breast cancer scared me too. I found the chapters on different symptoms of peri-menopause, types of natural hormones, and brain exercises especially helpful. Thanks and I would recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Clear, Concise, Understandable, Empathic
This book spoke to my concerns. Most of all, I was relieved to realize that I did not have Alzheimer's. The science was clear and convincing. I saw myself as "Ellen" whose story, among others, is a big part of this book. Her successful treatment has made me much more hopeful for myself. I now feel in control of myself and my health. I loved this book.

Fantastic
I have read many books about the Royal lives from various parts of the world. This book by "Gayatri Devi" is exquisite and her narration simply makes the book premier of them all. The details and the wonderful experiences amazed me. Her life has so much vitality and enthusiasm. Its a book by someone with bright spirit and great soul.

What a great work of art.
I have always been interested in the history of Princely India because I find the lives and times of the great Maharajas of India very fascinating. I found the first edition of this great book at an Indian book store in New Jersey. I was very ecstatic about my discovery since one can hardly find books about the history of Princely India in the States. This is the perfect way to find out what it was like during the time when the Maharajas ruled India. Her Royal Highness, the Maharani Gayatri Devi has done a superb job in writing this book. Her writing makes it seem as if we are there in Jaipur when they welcomed Her at the Rambhagh Palace, and we feel the emotions she might have felt when Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi imprisoned her on false charges. This book is easy to follow and flows very nicely from one chapter to the next, and from one situation to the other. The English used in this book is not too complex either, and has many great pictures so that one can feel as if they are right there when She wins the elections and welcomes Jackie Kennedy at the City Palace. This book is a must read for all people who are interested in Princely India, or interested in famous influential women. It is a must read for people who like to read a romantic story, but it is a must read for people who like to read and gain new knowledge.

Old and new India as seen from the eyes of a princess
It is a view of India's living conditions, politics, social life and is also a love story. It begins when she is a little girl and the daughter of a prince and ends when she is an old woman. She catches the eye of one of her beautiful mother's "friends", the prince of Jaipur, when she is about 12. Later she becomes his third wife but the only one not an arranged marriage. She travels the world with her husband and does not have to live in purdah as the other two do. She is an celebrated beauty who later goes into politics and even serves time in jail for disagreeing with the government. It transitions India from the old days of the principalities to the democratic India of today. I was in India when I read this book. Several of her husbands palaces are open to the public, including one which is now a luxury palace hotel. We stayed there and experienced a little of the old India of the royals with the laviously decked out elephants (which you could ride), tea in the garden, musicans, shops and the elegant public rooms. Devi still lived there in a house on the grounds. I would recommend this book to anyone who plans to visit or has visited India. It's easy reading and very interesting.

True Life Fairy Tale
This story is enjoyable because it's her real life and it opens up a priveledged world most of us never get to see. It's pleasure reading and it's escape reading. There is nothing ground breaking or earth shattering here but maybe that's the point. It's an open look at a life that didn't turn out exactly as expected but was lived with joy and appreciation. You get to experience her grace and her zest. I liked it, I've even kept my copy but I doubt I'll be pulling it out to read again any time soon.

a princess remembers
it is an amazing book if u want to have an insight to the lives of our so called indian royalty...a life full of nothing but parties and balls ... going to france for shopping the sarees...amazing..especially for a woman who was born in the times when the whole country was struggling against the britishers...and all the country was involved except theses so called royalty who are interested in showing off their close relations with the british..i am amazed when they claim their love for the country yet they didn't do anything to make this country independent..all they are lamenting is their loss of titles when millions lost their lives ...complete apathy and lack of feeling for the land they were born in...it is eye opening.. a must read book

A beautiful story written by a beautiful woman.
I read this book while on the road in India. It was a wonderful find and a great companion on those long road trips between cities. Jaipur is a marvelous city. Of course it has changed, as have many of the great cities in India. I was able to get a glimpse of the beauty that was before the great shift in politics changed the look of India forever. Historic accounts were told simplistically with a perspective and emotion not found in ordinary text books. I thank the Maharani for her wonderful images and delightful accounts.
