Well crafted mystery.
Both good writers and good actors have the ability to make their characters believable. Jane Dentinger is both a writer and actress and she has created the wonderful character of Jocelyn (Josh) O'Roarke, an actress and director who often finds herself around murder.
Josh has gone out to Hollywood to work on a TV movie. Shortly after her arrival, the director of photography turns up dead by cyanide gas poisoning. Buddy Banks was also the uncle of the former child star who has the lead in the movie. Josh immediately begins to try and ferret out the truth. Along the way, there are assaults, supposed accidents on the set, a possible
embezzlement, and a secret real estate deal that she has to sort out.
This is a well written and interesting mystery, full of authentic details about the acting profession. The characters are believable, the writing is good and the plot is well constructed. I have read all of the Josh O'Roarke mysteries and this one is my favorite.

Too Good!
This book was simply GREAT! I got this book from my elder sister as I am very much into mystery and suspence. The beginning was a bit boring according to me but later on it picked up. I kept on turning pages to know what will happen next.I finished this book in three days. So, if you are interested in mysteries then this one is for you. It revolves around Joceyln O'Roarke who takes part in a play and how she gets involved in a murder. She is the actual who solves and finds the murderer. The rest you have to find it yourself.

Forget the crime; enjoy the characters and dialogue.
A pleasant read, with some fascinating characters, in particular Suspect #2 and his lawyer. Problem is, I was so amused by some of the characters and the witty dialogue that I didn't really care who committed the murder or how, even when the culprit was revealed. The setting of a theatrical company in which the director, whom everyone in the company has some reason to do away with, gets bumped off is hardly original. I read most of the book on a flight from Japan to Europe, but was able to put it down to watch "Small Soldiers" and finish it later. Was a good choice to while away the time on a plane ride, however.
Mystery's own drama queen
For theatre fans who also happen to like mysteries Jane Dentinger is a particular treat. Her New York actress/sleuth Jocelyn O'Roarke involves us in investigations where she is a professional actress but an amateur snoop. In this one Jocelyn pursues the murderer of the star of a summer-stock production of "Peter Pan." Jocelyn/Jane is funny, bitchy, and full of details about both the theatre and crime. If this is your milieu, this is your book.
