The Race Against Junk Food
Excellent, The Race Against Junk Food is a wonderful way to teach kids, parents and grandparents (like me) about healthy eating habits. My 5 year old grand girl loves this book. It's colorful characters and great story keep her interested from start to finish. She even tells other people about the book, and wants all her friends and family to order a copy right away. I highly recommend this book and encourage everyone to read this colorful guide toward good nutrition.

A fun way to talk about healthy eating.
I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and it has been a bedtime favorite for a couple of months. The story is fun and the characters are cool and colorful. Since the characters are fruits and vegetables, the book furnishes you with a fun way to talk about healthy eating.

My son loves this book
My 3-year-old loves this book. He now tells me what food is SNAK Posse food and what food is junk. We work together to find SNAK food that will help him run fast, jump high and win races.

I highly recommend this book!

PS - I loved it, too!

Historically Accurate Novel about WWII 8th Air Force
The author, Robert Denny, a former WWII B-17 pilot, puts a marvelous insight into how it really was for the aircrews flying into Germany. He is also obviously a student of history regarding WWII as he accurately and faithfully inserts historical personages and facts into the story line. The reader whose knowledge of the era is limited will learn much aboutsome of the decisive events of WWII plus enjoy a really good novel. The Brits and the Germans are blended into the story in a accurate and non-stereotypical portraile.

Read it and truly enjoy!

Well-researched, plausable, and exciting
Robert Denny, the author of "Aces" and "Night Run", was a B-17 pilot with the Eighth Air Force's 306th Bomber Group, and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He knows flying and he knows airplanes -- this shows in his writing. And he knows his history on the Eastern Front. In "Night Run", he has expertly woven an exciting fictional story into real historical events, interlacing his own characters with historical personalities. Mr. Denny subtitles his book "a novel in honor of the famed Night Witches of World War ll". Although his main protagonist is an American B-17 pilot, his book really showcases the women aviators of the War. Not only the Soviet female combat regiments, but the American WASPs and even the fanatical Nazi test-pilot Hanna Reitsch. The plot-device of an American fighting in the Soviet military is not as far-fetched as it may at first seem. This actually happened on a number of occasions. (I have a memoir of American POW Joseph Beyrle who, upon his liberation by the Red Army, joined a Soviet tank unit. Coincidentally enough, his tank commander was a woman.) "Night Run" takes its protagonists from the battle of Stalingrad to the fall of Berlin. Included is a "love story", which is something I normally detest in a war novel. But this one is tastefully written and never distracting from the action as the Red Air Force storms westward. Throughout, events are chronicled with the realism of one who actually participated. In many ways, this book reminds me of Cornelius Ryan's awesome "The Last Battle". I wonder if Denny referenced it for his historical sequences?

Fair, many errors in the solution manual
In the main text book it states that the problems were checked, yet this solution manual has so many errors I have to wonder what grade the reviewer received in his calculus class. Some answers are wrong, and some completely misinterpret the entire problem.

A wise man and a foolish question
Reading some of the other reviews, I felt compelled to write. I used the third edition for all three courses in calculus I took at UMCP, and had Dr. Gulick for the second one. I would suggest that any terrapins who need to take the course do it with him, because he FOLLOWS THE TEXT EXACTLY. This means that you can actually skip an occasional class: if you do the reading and twice as many problems as assigned. But about the book...Honestly, I cannot see how anyone could fault it. I have seen physics, engineering, business, even French majors reading it with out difficulty. Now the problems, they can be tough. But complaining about them is like complaining the weights in the gym are heavy.Calculus, like any other skill, can only be acquired by effort, by doing. If you are willing to put a little in, you will get a lot out of this book. If you expect to sit back and subliminally absorb it, no text will be of much use to you.

Wonderfully put together and presented.
I had the priviledge of having Dr. Ellis for two semesters of Calculus. He made alot of since in the lectures and this was reinforced as I read the book at home. It is possible to be taught a reasonable amount just from reading the text and doing the example problems. I would hate to see this book go out of print.

Step by Step is Better
Been a Wrox fan for some time. This is the worst book their team has produced. The material is cursory at best and totally theoretical. Very few practical examples. Never thought I would point to an MSPress Step-by-Step book, however it is far superior to this junk.

A Light in the Data Mining Tunnel
I found this book to be helpful in understanding how to utilize multidimensional database design. It was nice to see that Microsoft has some affordable alternatives one can turn to in the data mining and data warehousing market. Once again WROX has produced a helpful product for professionals in the computer industry.

Better than the last book!
I bought Sakhrs version of this book for SQL Server 7. This is not just an upgrade but a look at the new functionlity found within SQL Server 2000.

This book is a dream if you are involved within Analysis and even looking at the new DTS Analysis functions has helped me.

Comparing this with other books, by far this is the one that is well written and doesnt just come out with the obvious.

Not as easy as it sounds
My Aussie husband (before he was my husband) planned to return to Australia for a year to finish his degree. I had planned to go as well so I purchased this and other books to help me get an Australian work permit, etc. Six months before I was due to leave I sent away over 30 letters requesting LEGAL work in Australia. After I read the book I was confident I would be able to obtain a work permit; six months later I was confident I'd wasted my money. Unless you are Bill Gates or the like, overseas companies just don't want the hassle of hiring an American. You would probably be better off looking for cash-in-hand jobs once you get there.

Good overall but be cautious if you're not from the UK
The book has a lot of pertinent information and covers a lot of issues, from relocating (including pets) to finding work to finding housing. As it was written specifically for residents of the UK migrating to Australia or NZ, some of the information is not relevant to US-based readers, which was disappointing for me. Also, the edition I read in early 1998 had house prices from 1994, and the prices I've noted while doing some of my own research recently are much higher. All in all, however, quite detailed and descriptive of all the things one needs to think about if migrating "down under."

College Algebra

I cannot believe how much I paid for this book!
Sullivan's "College Algebra" is a mish-mash of material, very little of which has any relevance to the questions at the end of each section. I am extremely upset that my university changed to this text, as it is vastly inferior to our previous book. There are no examples of key points that are needed to complete homework. What explanations that are available are hard to decipher, much less understand. This text should not be allowed to be used in any classroom, college or high school.

A good start...
This book covers algebra very well. It is a simple, easy to understand text that most students seem to be able to grasp. It's main attribute is that it treats college algebra simply and does not scare students away. This book is also a good place to start if you are attempting to self teach.

awesome service
order was not shipped the same day, so seller gave me a discount and I still received the book pretty quick. Great customer service. The book is in mint condition.

A truly awful text
I am a math major at Michigan Tech where this book is used, and it has a deserved reputation for being AWFUL. Even some of the instructors don't like it. It is painfully slow-going and badly written. Avoid it at all cost. (Tech is replacing it next year).
