could not put it down
I have read all four Jack Prester mystery books You feel like you are right in the park with him.

A wonderfully crafted mystery.
Jack Prestor, National Parks Special Agent, is sent to Death Valley to investigate the murder of an accountant. The accountant had been investigating the disappearance of funds from the park. Ev Brant is sent in to continue the investigation where the accountant left off. Before they've even been there 24 hours, another body is found buried at the sceen of the murder. With an attacker trying to stop them from leaving the valley alive, they continue investigating, hoping to find the killer before he or she gets them. To make matters worse, a group of aging Hell's Angles have taken over the park, and Jack is caught in the crossfire between the park rangers and the bikers. It seems that the park will errupt in violence before Jack can even solve his first mystery. This is a good mystery that kept me guessing until the last minute. The clues and red herrings are everywhere. Not to give anything away, but I didn't even interrpret all the clues correctly. Yet, everything fit together perfectly in the end. I highly recommend this exelent book.

The Beginning of the New Adventures
Les is excited when his family moves to the area where the original Sugar Creek books were set. He hopes that he can have some exciting adventures like those he's always read about. But they start even sooner then he expected.

On his first morning there, he explores the creek, part of a county park. To his surprise, he finds a possum caught in a trap. Soon, he's trying to find the poacher with the help of his new friends Bits, Tiny, Lynn, and Mike. But can they solve this mystery?

This is a great start to breathing new life into the Sugar Creek Gang name. The characters are well developed, and all have something to contribute to the group and the plot. The story moves along well, and the spiritual side of the story is fully explored without stopping the action.

This is a book that kids of all ages should enjoy. I'm looking forward to reading the further adventures of the New Sugar Creek Gang.

A rare but excellent find
I have been a fan of Sandy Dengler's work for years. This book is the best one she has ever written. If you love mystery and suspense, check it out. The story involves Joe, the hero of the series, being shot. He thinks it was someone on the police force where he works. Hardly even trusting his partner, he hides out in a house and tries to recoop, while his partner tries to figure out what happened. After the assasigns try to kill Joe at the house, he runs into the desset to hide, but no one knows where he is. With so many people searching but not knowing who to trust, Joe must relie on God to help him. I believe this book was never published. I have only read it because Sandy Dengler sent me a copy of the manuscript. If you can get it, it is well worth it. Also, you do not have to read the other books n ther series to appreciate this one, although it does help

Practical Help for Parents of ADD Kids
This was the best book on ADD my wife and I have read. It not only explained ADD in understandable terms, it also provided us with practical ways to help our child succeed at school, at church, and in society. We appreciated the examples given because they enabled us to explain our situation to others in ways that help others (family and friends) to understand that ADD is not a curse and that an ADD child is not damaged goods. This is a must-read for anyone related in any way to someone with ADD.

A unique plot set in 35,000 B.C. amidst the Neanderthals.
Speaking of unique plots...hyenas certainly has one, A murder mystery and 35,000 B.C. The author's Paleontology backgrounds shows and shows well. Gar, a shaman of the Real People, has to find the person who took the head of a man. The survival of his clan depends upon it. The Real People are a leftover struggling to survive in a world of Hairies. The Real People are what we'd call Neanderthals.

Leann Arndt, Reviewer

Overall, this prehistorical who-done-it is worth reading

In 37,000 BC France, Gar the Neanderthal Shaman worries about how the Real People will survive the influx of this new race of hairy invaders. Gar places his concern for the future on hold when he comes upon the decapitated corpse of one of his people. Hovering nearby is a Neanderthal female and her half-breed son. In the general area of where the deceased lies also stands one of the others, a female Cro Magnon.

Gar quickly realizes that the two females know each other and deeply loathe one another. Though he prefers to ignore the brutal death, for the survival of his clan, he must to learn who killed a member of the Real people and why. Gar also decides to find out what has caused these two individuals to hate each other so much. Fifty millenniums of tribal history may not be enough to guide Gar into the virgin area of sleuthing.

As far as this reviewer knows, Sandy Dengler has pioneered a new sub-branch of the historical mystery with her prehistoric who-done-it. The adventurous story line is highlighted by an anthropological look into two divergent societies striving for world mastery. Though much is unknown and speculative, Ms. Dengler makes both cultures seem genuine as if recorded history guided her hand. Though the emphasis on food gathering becomes a bit much, the novel remains a superb mystery. For anyone who wants something a bit different with their mysteries, HYAENAS is the answer, hopefully with future novels starring Gar and company.

Harriet Klausner

A unique, flawlessly written, prehistoric murder mystery.
Hyaenas is a unique, original and fascinating mystery set in 35,000 BC amidst a tribe of Neanderthals who called themselves the "Real People". When a girl of the tribe is found standing over the body of a decapitated man with a bloodied skinning blade in one hand and a flint bone-chopping adze in the other, Gar (a shaman of the clan) is coerced into finding the person wh took the fellow's head. The spiritual health and very survival of his clan depend upon his skill and luck in uncovering the perpetrator. Once the dominant species, the clan has dwindled into a mere remnant struggling to survive in a should that increasingly favors a water folk called the "Hairies". Those were recent interlopers with a penchant for travel, strangers with beards and long hair, who didn't mind getting wet. Sandy Dengler (with a personal background in paleontology) has created a world of Pleistocene France during the Wurm glaciation, with its oddly different animals and uncertain climate. Her attention to historical and cultural background detail is meticulous and based upon the latest information available on Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon ways. Hyaenas is both a terrific murder mystery and a work of unique, flawless written exploration of prehistoric antiquity.

A joyous, lilting little story, with some shadows.
Picking up this little gem of an old love story made my day. It covers several years of a young girl's life and takes her from childhood to - well, I mustn't say more. It is a bright, joyous tale of the wooing of a country maiden by a man twice her age, an artist accustomed to the big city life of Atlanta. Juliana's brothers don't want this dark mature stranger from the city in their young sister's life, and they take measures to make sure the two never see each other. There are pitfalls aplenty, Foster Kirk's age being the biggest. Juliana is searching for a meaning in her life. She is a very normal teenager, having more questions than answers. There are pitfalls aplenty as various other family members, and friends of Juliana's and Foster's, join the separating force. A good book to tuck in your bag for that next trip.

Totally emo, cheesy tear-jerker
Looks like a quick effort to get something published and cash in on the hysteria surrounding the bombing. The author search for material to fill the books 276 page span but only comes up empty and trite. Pseudo-theological observations just add to the overall cheesiness. Skip the books and wait for it to come on A&E or something.

Amazing heart warming book
This is an incredible book! It really shows the truth about what happend that terrible day in Oklahoma City. Not only does it tell the stories about the lives that were lost it also tells about how God touched people that were involved. I cried as I read the entire book. First, tears of major sorrow and anger. But, the writter and the photographer did an amazing job of showing how God was with the people who were hurt and within the entire Oklahoma City community. At the end of the book I cried tears of joy just in the thought that God is with us even in the worst of times. He (God) can't prevent the evil humans do to eachother, but he has an amazing promise that he will always be with us! This book really answers the hard Question of "Where was God at 9:02 a.m."
