Ribbits New Rug
Rabbit's New Rug
This book is a good book for young readers. It is an easy reader with a good amount of text. This book will show children that material objects aren't as fun and loving as a good friend who cares about you. This book will change the way you think about how important your friends and family are.
This book is about a rabbit who got a new rug. His rug was the most beutiful rug that he had seen before. So rabbit decided to call up all of his friends to come over to see his new rug. But when they got there he wouldn't let anyone step on it so they had to stand against the wall. Everyone got tired of standing so they all left. So then for days rabbit would just stay at home and clean his rug. Soon rabbit realized that a rug isn't a friend and found out that he wasn't having any fun at all. So he decided to have a party with all of his friends.

Randi's Review
My book was called Angel's Mother's Baby and the author is Judy Delton. I thought that this book was interesting. The book was about how Angel's mother was going to have a baby. At first she didn't want a new brother or sister, then she loved the idea! It talks mostly about families and what they do together and how they make decisions together. I would recommend this book to other people.

Lovely story of acceptance between older people & children
When a special program matches older people from cities with suburban families during the summer, the "artificial" grandmas and grandpas find the cooler, cleaner environment they seek and children to nuture.
In this particular story, Delton explores the growth of a relationship which begins when a child has to give up his room to accommodate the guest. From a rough start, the hostility quickly turns into a game as the youngster tries to drive the guest out of the house. Delton applies her wonderful sense of human interactions and humor in creating this story of learning to accept one another. The pictures she creates textually give the reader empathy for both "sides" of the awkward situation.
Unfortunately, this easy chapter book for readers 7-12 is out of print. As a teacher of reading, I advise other teachers to encourage a reprinting. The story is perfect for group literature study where feelings, cause and effect, and inference can be explored-- often based upon students' real-life relationships with grandparents or older people.
This is a MUST for your library! Let's get it back in circulation.

Grumpy Pumpkins
This is a touching book about the Pee Wee Scouts and the good deeds they do at Halloween. The Pee Wee's and their leader, Mrs. Peters, have fun visiting a Pumpkin farm, picking out their own pumpkin, creating and making their halloween costumes, and visiting a nursing home. Find out the lesson Molly learns about Grumpy Pumpkins! This is one of my favorite Judy Delton books. I like the way Delton uses scouts as a theme for her books instead of athletics. It shows young children how there are many activities, other than sports, that they can participate in and enjoy. The text has humor, as well as a serious side, that combine to grab the attention of the young reader. The illustrator uses black and white, cartoon-like, sketches throughout the book that add humor and fun to the text.
