*ahem*
I am not sure how I ever received a copy of this book. I know that I have had it for a very long time and that when I first read it I couldn't have been older than seven years old. Astral projection, OBE's and other things of that nature fascinated me long before I knew how to refer to them. This book allowed me to identify things like the jolt I sometimes felt as I fell asleep or the sound I hear behind other sounds. The best thing about the book is the fact that Barthe Declements and Christopher Greimes used Philip and Faith to explain simple techniques to young readers. Knowing that there was another world to explore and a culture of people who explored it enchanted me and still does. The combination of the descriptions of the twins' 'special powers' and the relatively engaging plot was a smashing combination and the only reason why I was tempted to deny the book of it's fifth star is because I realize more and more everytime I read it that it is more of a guide than a story. The thing is, though, that the guide's masquerade as a story is what makes it so special.

It is a very touching story!
Double Trouble by Barthe DeClements and Christopher Greimes is a wonderful book. The twins Phillip and Faith are separated from each other, but they have a special way to communicate with each other. While Faith live with Aunt Linda, Phillip got adopted by the Wangsleys. They both got into serious trouble because of their special power. Can they help each other to solve the problems? I strongly recommend it to the readers who are interest in psychic abilities. The book also dealing a lot with the feeling that the twins have for being separated apart. It is a very touching story!

A book you don't want to miss
I really liked the way Faith and Phillip communicated with each other. Most books you read are about siblings who always argue and never get along. The problems and the plot is really good.Although,I think Phillip should've talked to his case worker sooner.Other than that the book was awesome.I find myself wishing that a sequel would be written!

"Nobody wants Copper"
Taking place in Washington State, "No Place For Me" gives a realistic, first-person account of 12-year-old Copper Jones, the protagonist who is deserted by her stepfather while her mother is in an alcohol treatment center. He sends Copper to unwilling, mean relatives who in turn pass her on to other reluctant relatives. Eventually, Copper ends up with her odd Aunt Maggie Jones who practices witchcraft and teaches Copper how to be honest and take control of her life by first confronting her own nightmares.

This was a very enjoyable and fast-paced book. The ending was a little elusive, hanging with the question of what Copper would do in a certain situation, but overall it was terrific. Highly recommended to preteen girls who can relate to Copper's situation of being alone and unwanted by family, yet finding strength from them as well.

Not Like Most
A poignant, realistic portrayal of a young girl's struggle to find herself and to seperate her own identity from that of her alcoholic mother through her relationship with a very unusual and caring aunt.

Great, great read
The was the first DeClements book I read. And I loved it! The characters were so well written and so realistic! This is a great book for kids around the ages of 10 to about 13. Even though I'm well over 13, I still enjoy this book! It deals with divorce and making new friends... Starting over, you know? I hope you all read this!

Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade
The book I read was Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade which is about a girl named Elsie who tries to loose weight. The seting was a real place. The real place is Jenny's house and at school. The characters were believeable or like real people because some people are fat and try to loose weight just like the main character in this book. Yes, the main character was a likeable person because she helped her friend with problems so she wouldn't be sent away. I liked the story and it was exciting because in every chapter Elsie would loose weight or get in trouble. My favorite part of the story was when they took a ride in the back of a man's truck because it made you think the girl's were going to get kidnapped. The main character learned that as long as she was good enough for her mother she wouldn't be sent away. I would recommend this book for a friend because the book always has something exciting in every chapter that does not make you put the book down. If my friend likes this book he or she would also like Fourth Grade is a Jinx.

Barthe DeClements is a genius!
Barthe DeClements has created the most wonderful book for fifth-graders to read. Kids of all ages and grades would appreciate it as well, but I imagine that it is a target for most fifth-graders. There is humor, for sure. Cracks about Elsie Edwards' weight, such as when she's walking with Jenny, Diane, and Sharon, some sixth-grade boys say the bunch is "three flagpoles and a beach ball" and "three asparagus strings and a tomato". Elsie at first has no friends, and is disliked by everyone for stealing lunch money and scrounging at lunch time. But Jenny befriends her, and convinces Diane and Sharon to give her a chance as well. This is a read full of friendship, the real world, and fifth grade. And I declare one thing about the author of this book: Barthe DeClements is a genius!

The BEST book I ever read!!!!!
Is nothing fair for you in fifth grade? If so,the book Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade is the perfect book for you to read. Another reason to read the book is because it is full of friendship,so for all of you who like friendship books, this is for you.

The story is focused on the life of Elsie Edwards, who goes to a new school and is not welcome there. Elsie is an overweight girl, who is on a diet, but still asks people for food. One day, she starts stealing money, and when the teacher and the principal find out, the classroom door has to be locked. Jennifer, and Diane, are two girls in her class who don't like her. A little later in the book, Jennifer and Diane...Find out when you read the book!

I would recommend this book to forth and fifth graders, because it tells people about being friends, and relates to real life. The reason I really likes this book is because I liked the technique that the author used (of really explaining the characters feelings), and also, I could relate it to one of my friends' life. I read this book in the end of fourth grade, and I knew I was ready to help new people fit in in fifth grade. For all the people who don't like to read, THIS IS FOR YOU!

Boyfriend Shouldn't Pressure Elsie
In this book, Elsie's boyfriend is pressuring her to have sex because he figures that since she's almost seventeen, it's time to do it. Elsie is feeling uneasy about the whole thing. I don't think it should be up to Craddoc (her boyfriend) to decide whether Elsie is ready for sex. She should be the one to decide.

Seventeen and In-Between
This book was great . I meen Elsie she had two gues who loved here but she didnt know who to love back. This book is a saspence. I couldent put it down . I mean when Elsie Kissed Jack I couldnt belive my eyes . I would recamend this book for any one who can read and as for me I have a story to get back to so long.

The kids here have so many layers to them!
I love Elsie - her intelligence, her decency, her pain & anger. The characters in this book jump off the page & seem like people I've either known & felt strongly about or WISH I knew. Elsie's mom is one of the more fascinating moms I've read about - not sympathetic, not likable, but REAL. Her 2 "love interests" are both good solid guys, but you find yourself strongly rooting for...well, read it and see. This book is special - quite a few notches above the usual Young Adult fare, with memorable characters and a deep understanding of adolescence & how one never REALLY gets over one's childhood...you carry it with you wherever you go.

I Never Asked You To Understand Me
I would highly recommend the book, I Never Asked You To Understand Me, by Barthe DeClements to any teen-aged girl. This one of my favorite books. The author makes you feel like know all the characters.
The book is basically about a teen-aged girl, Didi, who goes through many problems that many teens face. For instance her mother has cancer, Didi and her father don't have a relationship, basically they both live in the same house, but they barely speak. I can totally relate to this book. The whole book takes place in the city, middle class.
All through out the book, Didi has a best friend that helps her through all her problems, relationship with her father, mother going through treatments, her and her boyfriend John's problems...EVERYTHING! As Didi mother is going through treatments, Didi and her father begin to get closer. Not exactly where they want to be in their relationship, but better than it ever was. Unfortunately her mother ends up passing away, which makes Katie hit rock bottom!
Once again her best friend is there for her, but she ends up loosing her boyfriend because she's too depressed and he never really cared about her anyway. Although the death is very painful for her and her father, it brings them closer.
At the end of the book Didi meets a guy...THE PERFECT GUY! Ken makes her feel loved, special, all the ways he should make her feel. Her and her father are perfectly fine, their relationship couldn't get any better, and her and her best friend remained close and end up becoming closer through out the years.
I highly recommend this book to anyone with an open mind.

teen favorite
I was just reading my journal from when I was 14 (I'm 26 now) and I wrote this down as my favorite book. It may not be my favorite now, but it still ranks up there with "the best of the best" in my opinion. This is a really good read, not just for teens, but for the family of a teen. It seems as if you really know Didi by the end of the book!!

Good book
When Didi's mother dies Didi spins outta control. Her grades drop and she starts skipping school. Eventually she finds herself at Cooparation High (AKA "The Coop"), the "alternative" school for dropouts and druggies. Here she meets Stacey who is withdrawn and phobic around guys. She also meets T.J. the gorgeous stoner who she becomes increasingly attrcted to. And Larry, a parolee. When she and Stacey become close friends Didi finds out the reasons behind Stacey's fears. But now that Didi knows the truth what can she do?

A good book with a look into teenage life and the dealings of abuse.

How to lose the ninth grade blues?
This book rocks. It just made me feel sooo good. I did a book report on it and it only toke 3 hours to read it.

About Elsie
I read the book Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade when I was younger and I loved it. I only recently discovered there were two other books written about Elsie Edwards. This one takes place four years after the first book, when Elsie is a freshman in high school. She is now slender, attractive, and popular. She catches the eye of Craddock, the most popular boy in school. They begin dating, but their relationship is continually threatened by Elsie's insecurity. Considering the experiences of her past, it's not hard to understand why Elsie would feel she is not worthy of Craddock. This is a very real book, all about different kinds of relationships, whether they be between lovers, friends, or children and parents.

Liar, Liar
This is a really good book. It's about a girl named Gretchen Griswald and her best friend a girl named Susan. A new girl in Gretchen's class Marybelle has a bad start with Susan and Marybelle, by shaving part of Susan's hair off! When Susan gets sick Marybelle tries to get Gretchen as a friend, but then starts to tell bad things about people. She said that she saw Susan STEAL from a store a pair of earings and Susan claimed that it was her sisters and she borrowed it. Who should she believe? Then after Susan finally gets better, she starts treating Gretchen differently. Even her whole family does. Even some of her friends. Gretchen soon knew that Marybelle, was telling lies about her. Gretchen's brother tells her liars trap themselves in their own webs, yet Gretchen relizes how good at she is at telling these lies, but her friends believe Marybelle. So, Gretchen tries to make friends with another girl, and does suceed but will she get her old friends back? If you read it, you'll see! I highly recomend this book.

Good Liar
The main characters in Liar, Liar are Marybelle, Grizzy (Gretchen). They are in 6th grade. Grizzy is a nice girl who is kind to Marybelle. The problem is that Marybelle is a liar. She only lies because she wants to have many friends.
Marybelle wants Crystal and Susan for friends. Marybelle steals other friends from Grizzy... Grizzy likes Spider and Amy since Marybelle stole her other friends. Amy is a new friend for Grizzy.
Marybelle tells a lot lies to people. Most people believed her and her wish came true that everyone believed her and she had many friends...
Marybelle can be a nice girl but she needs to stop lying and she is guilty of not telling the truth just to make friends. She can be nice, if she stop lying to people for stupid reasons.
You should read Liar, Liar because it is so good... And I think it is for older people like teenagers and pre teenagers... It is an awsome book... It is based on a true experiences of what happens when a person lies...

A must for serious students of circuits
This book is an absolute must for anyone who wishes to study analog circuits in detail. The book explains all the concepts in a very easy to understand manner though I would recommend it only people with some background in circuits. Knowledge of network analysis would greatly help. The best part of this book is the device physics treatment. Such an exhaustive treatment of device physics is not found in many contemporary books catering to first course on circuits. The emphasis is on MOS technology which is good. The only complaint against this book is its size. Some chapters can be trimmed down a bit reducing the overall size to about 800 pages from the present 1000+ pages. All in all a great book.

excellent reference book
I did not realize how good this book was until I was taking graduate courses in semiconductor physics and VLSI design. After muddling through books specifically covering semiconductor devices (Streetman, Sze etc), I found myself referring back to this book for better explanations. Chapter 13 was expecially helpful for designing digital circuits in my VLSI design class. However, the appendix on SPICE modeling should be expanded to a whole chapter so students don't have to purchase additional texts on SPICE.

The best [money] I've ever spent
I bought this book in my freshman year in college. At first I hated it, reading it was a pain, it was a big book and just too much. I didn't learn the value of this book until my third year when I had to take a separate course on every chapter that was mentioned in this book, that's when I got confused by details and tangents of other books and had to get back to this book to pass my courses. I used this book in EVERY circuit courses that I took in college, and even now after graduation I still go back to it to look things up. I have read almost the whole thing; it talks about almost everything you need to know about circuits in college. It even got a table of filters and their transfer functions in chapter 11, knowing it is a must for every job interview you go to. Consider it a bible for electrical engineering.
