Believe me, you really need the tapes. And you'll really enjoy them. Italian is a beautifully-sounding lanugage to pronounce. And the tapes make it easy and fun.

I recently returned from Italy after reading this book and listing to the two language tapes that accompany it. The book and tapes cover everyday subjects which arise during your trip to Italy. How to buy things in stores. How to ask directions. How to order from a menu. How to make reservations. How to talk about yourself and carry on a basic conversation. It also gives travel advice on how to use the public telephone, buy parking tokens and other juicy tidbits that will make your vacation a lot easier. (Italy is not a very efficent country, and everyday situations can become a lot more complicated than you could ever have imagined!)

When we were in Rome I found that about 95% of all Italians spoke fluent English. Most of them did not even tolerate my attempts at speaking Italian. But when we traveled to Tuscany, Florence, and the outlying Veneitian islands this book became very useful.

I highly recommend it as a succinct surivial guide if you're planning to go to Italy. I also thought that the tapes were excellent and the lessons well planned and pertinent. I carried this book with me during my trip for reference.

It will definitely help you learn some basic surivial Italian quickly and easily.

I found this book to be just what I was looking for. She takes you through every step along the way.

Chemometrics is not intrisically difficult to understand, but it has a high barrier especially for beginners. One of the reasons may be that most of tutorials employses unnecessarily many equations, and they describe claculation algorithms too much. Nonetheless, the basic concept of PCR and PLS should be described on the line of CLS and ILS. The discovery of advantage of ILS, and the idea of using latent variables by PCA are the most important to fully understand PCR and PLS. Richard Kramer writes the book along this concept, and we can comprehensively understand the ideas of maltivariate analysis of spectra. He uses many figures, as if we were performing simulations by ourself. After fully understanding of this book, we would understand other tutorials more deeply and easily.

I read this work a year or so ago, and have never forgotten about it. I am searching for copies for every mother I know, it was that good. It made me laugh, cry, and feel not so alone in resenting my children at times. It is the most realistic portrayal of MY motherhood experiences I have ever read. If, at times you feel guilty and not up to the demands of motherhood, this book is for you.

When I first read this book decades ago, I knew immediately that this woman was right about motherhood. I did have one child, who is now grown and turned out very well, but the experience was eerily and exactly what this book predicted. I must have read hundreds of books on parenthood while I was struggling with it in the day-to-day, but it's telling that after nearly 30 years, this is *only* one I remember--for its truthfulness. It's shameful this is out of print now; it ought to be required reading for all young girls.

I was 20 when I read this book and it scared me so bad that I put off having children until I was 37. Finally I started trying only to find out that I was infertile. I am now 42 and have 2 adopted children from China that are the joy of my life. I urge women reading this to consider that some decisions are irrevocable and just because the stars have kids at 48 doesn't mean that YOU will be able to without spending a king's ransom on dangerous fertility treatments.

It showed how life was back then and what Zoe did to get rid of the Northern soldiers, but it didn't have much else. It was sort of boring.

Zoe Snyder is a yound girl who's whole world, like those around her, has been turned upside down. Zoe must struggle to keep her wits about her as she tries to survive the occupation of the Yankee forces in her town and in her home. She discovers that courage lurks in the strangest of places.

This was one of the first historical fiction novels I read as a child, and since then I have read many more. This is a short beautiful work that I would recommend to anyone of any age although it is aimed at young adults. Ms. Climo has a talent and I am glad she wasn't afraid to share.

I loved this book. It transports you into the middle of the civil war. It's easy to identify with Zoe, an ambitious young girl trying to take her house back form imposing soldiers. I read this book four years ago, and I find myself thinking of it often. It left a lasting impression in my memory.

Both my husband and I found this course very hard to follow. The written text does not follow the tape and you find yourself skipping from page to page and getting frustrated.

We did learn enough Greek to get by on our trip, but I would not purchase this again. I would go with another tape/book combo.

Not as complete as the Teach Yourself Greek or the Colloquial Greek offerings, but still a solid instructional conversational course. Make sure you get the book/cassette combo, not just the book. Designed to deliver conversational skills. Language books fall into two broad groups: those that teach you phrases and go light on the grammar, and those that endeavor for a working knowledge of the entire language. This book falls into the former category, where it does a good job, but while you may gain some useful knowledge in 7 days, you will not be able to master all the material in the book in that time.

This book is good for people who are begining to learn german, if you are about to start a journy in which you have to get in touch with germans this book will be usefull.
