The book is divided into seven sections. The first section is on negotiating gambits and principles. Negotiating gambits include the common reluctant buyer/reluctant seller, handling impasses, nibbling, positioning for easy acceptance and well as many, many others including unethical ones like the red herring. The second section is on how to resolve tough negotiating problems. The third section covers how to use pressure points in negotiation. Then comes negotiating with non-Americans followed by attitudes and beliefs of a power negotiator. Section six covers developing power over the other side and section seven covers the various drives that motivate people in a negotiation.
Simply one of the best books on negotiation, it is a highly recommended read and should be kept near at hand for the occasional review whether to assist you in dealing with the car salesman, the children, or anyone else you deal with.
Roger Dawson covers all of the proactive bases: smart thinking, system thinking, futuristic thinking, and positive thinking. If you are truly seeking the kind of success and abundance that makes your life 100% livable - you must read this book. Some of Dawson's ideas are found in SUCCESS BOUND, another book that can help you proactively deal with problems and turn them into opportunities for success.
Everything that I have put into practice that Dawson has recommended has worked. The dozens of gambits and recommended strategies will bring you success. Read it and you will believe that you can negotiate anything that you set your mind to. My copy is worn with highliter and pen marks all through it from the numerous times that I've returned to it in order to study it again.
You will find that this exciting and informative book becomes a part of you. Don't hold back - let it happen. In fact, you should spend 10 to 15 minutes every morning focusing your thoughts on the truths of this book, thereby allowing them to seep deep into your subconscious mind. If you do this I guarantee this wisdom will most assuredly bring you the success and abundance you deserve.
Enjoy the book and your new proactive life.

I enjoyed learning about the different negotiating "gambits" (as Dawson calls them), for example "good guy, bad guy", "reluctant buyer/seller", "nibbling", etc. Many of these may seem like basic common sense, but they are the classic techniques used in all negotiations. Dawson shows you not only how to use them, but also how to respond when these techniques are used against you.
In my view, the author's "win/win" philosophy strikes just the right balance between hardball tactics and "win/win" fluff that ignores real world tricks. So even if some of these tactics may seem manipulative and unethical, Dawson's point is that it is important to become familiar with them, if only because others may be using them against you.
The material is presented at a basic level, so if you are an experienced negotiator, you may not learn much new here. But for the rest of us, a fascinating, entertaining and very practical introduction to the topic. Highly recommended!

1) This book is not well-organized and could be written with 1/3 the number of words utilized by this author. It is also chock-full of extraneous information and helpful "tips" on completely unrelated topics.
2) Alarmingly, this author promotes nuts and nut butters and recommends introducing these at 10 months of age. Peanuts are SEVERELY allergenic and can even cause anaphylactic shock, which can lead to throat constriction and even death in children and adults. The information on nut allergies is mentioned in a completely separate allergy chapter of the book and is not discussed in the chapter on nuts and nut butters. Because this book is incredibly dense, it is easy to forget about this reference by the time your baby is 10 months old and it is time, according to the author, to introduce nuts. Early introduction of nuts can reduce the likelihood that a child will outgrow this allergy. Most pediatricians now recommend waiting until 2 years to introduce nuts.
3) This author recommends home-prepared carrots, which I learned from another source contain nitrates and are dangerous for newborns.
4) This author has a superior attitude about her methodology, which is a little annoying. Her only scientific support for her approach is that she has two kids and they seem to have been sick less than other kids.
I would buy this book for the useful tips, but go in with eyes open to the flaws
However, about 300 of the 500+ pages were completely useless and/or had nothing to do with food. In addition, the general layout of the book was poor. The recipes were introduced in the middle of the book and were haphazard, not allowing me to use the book as the reference I had hoped.
Also the parent must keep in mind that most kids grow up in the real world. Eating healthy is wonderful, however you won't be able to find most of this food if you ever leave the house. My dd is a picky eater and I now have to pack her lunch wherever we go because she won't eat the standard grilled cheese or pizza at a restaurant.
Some people seem to be really bothered by her suggestions to add things to the Super Porridge. The healthy extras she recommends like kelp, tahini, and brewers yeast are considered by many to be extremely healthy foods, even if most people don't know anything about them. Babies who haven't gotten used to highly salted or sugary processed foods probably won't find any of these foods to be yucky. I suspect that some reviewers who have introduced this diet to toddlers would face this problem though. Besides, I find it easy to try what's comfortable for me and leave the rest. The book is an excellent reference with a page on each food with exactly how to buy, store, prepare, freeze etc. There is the "Super Baby Food Diet Plan", (centered around frozen food cubes and homemade whole grain baby cereal) which is extensive in detail and tells exactly what food groups, how much of each, and gives all sorts of nutrition info. on why certain things are beneficial/important. Her analysis and charts on what vitamins/minerals/food groups your baby will be getting from the Super Baby Food Diet and how you can keep track of these things is dizzying. She tells you to include certain amounts of servings of green foods, yellow foods, etc. so that you can be sure that you are including all the nutrients your baby needs to be healthy. Even if you choose not to follow the diet in such detail, her nutrition advice is great and her method of pureeing and freezing the different food in cubes is super easy and convenient. We never found a reason to get a jar of baby food with our first baby, and now the second is almost ready for solids and I will be getting my ice cube trays out again.
My favorite part of this book is that it makes it easy to feed my baby a whole foods diet, which is what I consider to be the healthiest choice for the whole family.
As for her warnings, opinions, and thrifty suggestions- some are laughable, but many are good. They certainly don't negate all of the fantastic information that is packed in this book about feeding babies and toddlers. And I have tried some of her recipes. Her whole grain breakfast cereal that you cook in the crockpot overnight is great, as well as several other recipes I've tried. Again, they are probably not really geared to a mom who is comfortable with the typical American diet. Her toddler will be eating Captain Crunch for breakfast.
