If You're Waiting on God
This is the book if you are waiting on a word from God. This is a powerful book. Dr. Weems has done it, yet again. This book makes a wonderful gift for Christian women. God Bless You, Dr. Weems.

Hope is what "Listening for God" offers...
As a writer and one who has an ongoing inner dialogue (often chaotic debate), this book arrived in my hands like an angel to the dying. For a number of years I've been 'on hold' regarding taking action on a number of projects, believing myself to be an imposter when I have so many questions and so much doubt. Ms Weems, in her honest sharing, has offered me a new perspective. With humor, teeth gritting honesty, and a trusting soul, Renita Weems shares her struggle and doubt, offering in the end a gift of love and wisdom. What a wonderful gift to those of us stumbling along the path. Thank you.

A wonderful validation of some of my own feelings.
A brilliantly written book with humor which kept me glued to the pages. I could not put it down. It was just so uplifting to hear that others are experiencing the same "lost feelings" I have felt. To have those feelings validated has made a profound difference in my understanding of our wonderful God and this journey we are on.

Excellent Overview
This book presents a wondeful overview of the topics affecting HR. I admit I was a little wary, because this is supposed to be about "tomorrow's" HR trends, and I bought it four years after publication. Despite that, it seems fresh, some of the forecasted trends have already come to pass, and this book is as impressive and essential as when it was first published. Maybe more so. Kudos all the way 'round.

Leer este libro o morir... Read it or die....
Cualquiera que trabaje en Recursos Humanos DEBE de leer este libro. This books is about what HR should be in any organization where HR has any kind of value added. No se lo pierdan esta realmente "abre ojos", despierta al mas dormido de la funcion de Recursos Humanos. Even better than HR Champions.

What Is the Future Role of HR?
"This book offers one approach to thinking about the future of HR. A number of other approaches can and have been used. Futurist methodologies have been applied to study the 'state of the art' and the future and have through surveys of thought leaders identified likely priorities for the future. Our approach", D.Ulrich, M.R.Losey, and G.Lake write, "to thinking about the future of HR parallels closely and draws heavily on a methodology used by F.Hesselbein, M.Goldsmith, and R.Beckhard (Leader of the Future, Organization of the Future)...We have tried to select thought leaders in three groups : academics who study and write HR issues, consultants who offer advice and councel on an array of HR issues, and HR professionals who practice the craft of HR in leading companies...Each of the contributors to this book was asked to write an original ten-page essay on 'the future of HR' as he or she chose to define it...Our hope in this book was for a unique variety of opinion : positive, negative; broad, narrow; optimistic, pessimistic; provocative, discreet; calls for change, calls for status quo (from the Introduction pp.2-3)."

In this context, Ulrich, Losey, and Lake organize the 37 essays into six general sections. Each of these sections deals with a series of questions such as :

Section I :

* What is the strategy of HR?

* What are the products and services of HR?

* How should HR be organized to ensure that the strategy is executed?

Section II :

* What are the future deliverables from HR work?

* What are the metaphors of the HR professional of the future?

* What are the actions for future HR professionals?

Section III :

* What is the history of HR?

* What of the past should be left in the past, and what should be adapted for the future?

* What set of conditions will create a new future?

Section IV :

* Where should HR work be done?

* How do we measure HR work?

* How do HR executives align HR work both inside and outside?

Section V :

* How is intellectual capital operationalized?

* How can HR practices be created that motivate and commit employees?

* What is the impact of humane treatment of employees?

Section VI :

* What are the HR implications of a more global business?

* How can HR practices help a business develop a more global outlook?

* What are the competencies of global leaders?

"If our purpose is to propose a debate about the future", D.Ulrich writes, "it is better to end with questions than with answers. Questions elicit new frameworks, approaches, and alternatives, so, the final two questions we would ask (with our answer) are :

* Do you want to play in this always changing and at times unclear future?

* Are you having fun?

Without a doubt, all the authors in this volume and many others of the best HR professionals we know answer with a resounding 'yes' (p.360)."

I highly recommend.

The best book to begin with
If I had it all to do over again I would begin fly-fishing by reading this book. It's title tells the truth. The book is obviously written for the beginning fly-fisher but that does not mean it is light-weight in its information. Rutter & Card give very solid information and explain it throughly enough for it to become easy to understand. The book is full of black and white pictures and diagrams to help the reader visualize what the writers are talking about. They will explain what you need to do and then show you pictures of how to do it. The Table of Contents is also a big help because it breaks down where you can find each sub-grouping within each chapter (the Table of Contents is almost as big as the Index). All together this makes "Fly Fishing Made Easy" a book that I am still glad I have in my library, even though I am no longer a beginner.

Great book for beginning fly fishers!
This book is well written in a light yet very informative manner. The author's cut to the basics and keep it simple. Well worth the price and the reading.

A must read for the new fly fisher
This is a well organised book with great how to. for the begining to intermediate fly rodder this book has some excellent tips to help you jump start your fly fishing hobbie.

Stare Swirl Sniff Sip & Swallow!
An easy to understand guide for anyone who wants to learn some basic facts about wine and opening a bottle of wine - whether you're trying to impress friends, clients, dinner guests, or the neighbors!

"Uncork It!" is worth the money , in exchange for the info.
"Uncork It!" helped me to be more confident in my knowledge regarding wine purchases and feeling that I can "hold my own" when conversing about different types of wine. I also became better at opening a bottle, (with grace and tact)when I followed Cathleen Michaels' directions, step by step. Easy and fun reading. Humor in the book, along with the illustrations, made reading enjoyable and the points clear. Helped remove some of my "phobias" of wine serving. I have always been a bit intimidated by wines, due to my lack of knowledge, and felt that a lot of "big books" out there in print, were way above my head and were unapproachable for me to even pick up and read. Learning about wine does not have to be just for those who are "in the know". I used what I had learned from reading "Uncork It!" at my own dinner party. My guests noticed I was confident when opening and serving the wine and commented on my ability (I felt pleased and proud that they noticed a difference)- of course, I told them about the book! I was also able to use the "appropriate lingo" to describe the wines we were drinking, remembering from the wine discriptions in the book. My dinner party was enjoyable and the conversation flowed and upbeat when discussing the basics about wine and our own feelings of buying and opening wine. I learned I was not the only person "afraid" of wine. This book helped me and my guests to open up to talking about our fears and I was able to encourage them from what I had read in "Uncork It!" Information in book is very applicable . You won't be disappointed!

outstanding
This is book 3 of a 3-part series. Book 1 is Introductory Concepts and Techniques, and Book 2 is Advanced Concepts and Techniques. These three books are my favorites for learning Office 2000.

In this volume, there are post-advanced sections on Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (volume 1 covers basic skills in these applications and also Outlook). In each section, there are projects that you complete. The text takes you through the projects step-by-step, with very clear instructions and excellent illustrations. As you complete each project, you learn specific skills.

One feature that I particularly like is one of the appendices. It lists the skill requirements for Microsoft Office User Specialist Certification and shows which page in the book the specific skills are explained.

Other books from Course Technology that I like include the New Perspectives Series, and the Illustrated Series. I also like Ruth Maran's Simplified Series and Teach Yourself Visually Series. And, there is always Microsoft Press: I like the Step-by-Step Series and the Running Series.

No details
This is a great book about Disney Company. It goes chronologically from 1901 to 1999 and beyond. Every event in the company's history is put in the book, but without much detail.
Since he maintains Disney Archives, Dave Smith could have done a litle better, like he did with Disney's Encyclopedia.

Excellent
This book was excellent! It had terrific pictures and it told from 1901 when Walt was born until 2001. It is a great keepsake. I purchased mine at Walt Disney World during the 100 Years of Magic celebration.

An excellent overview of Walt¿s life and of the Disney Co
I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with lots of great photographs and artwork from Walt Disney and the Disney Company. It also has a really nice overview of the life of Walt Disney and the work of the Disney Company in text.

I appreciated the organization of the book. The book is arranged chronologically, which helped me to understand the flow of events better. This book has a very upbeat, positive tone and paints a very bright and exciting future for the Disney Company.

This book does not contain nearly as much information about Walt Disney as some of the biographies that I have read, but I don't think that was the goal of this book. This book does a very nice job of chronicling the art and the work of this great American icon and then continues the chronology with the work of the Disney Company in the post Walt era.

This book starts with very early Disney and takes the reader all the way through to Fantasia 2000. This is an excellent coffee table book. I highly recommended it to anyone that loves Walt, his work and the continuing work of the Disney Company.

Powerful Performances and Nice Effort by Sean Penn!
This disturbing character study features a powerhouse performance by Jack Nicholson. Angelica Huston is equally impressive as Nicholson's wife. The fact that they we're married in real life make their scenes all the more powerful and interesting. David Morse and Robin Wright are also great. Admirable effort by Sean Penn, he wrote and directed this somber and depressing character study. He obviously has problems with the narrative of the film but he is great at directing the actors, he squeezes two powerful performances by Huston and Nicholson, he actually made Jack cry, a rare thing in his movies. Interesting and entertaining but lacking in essence. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film a 6!

Unforgiven
It's too long, too unfocused and way too self-indulgent. But in the end, none of this matters. Sean Penn's second effort as a director-screenwriter is compelling and emotionally resonant ways that more conventionally well-made films never manage to be. Jack Nicholson gives one of his finest performances as Freddy Gale, a jewelry store owner whose daughter was killed by a drunken driver six years before the story begins. Since then, the devastated Freddy has remained alive only by nursing the hope that he will be able to kill John Booth (David Morse), the man who accidentally killed his daughter. But as the guilt-racked Booth is released from prison, it becomes very clear that perhaps neither man really wants to live much longer. Throughout "Crossing Guard," Penn has a tendency to sledgehammer his way through walls rather than simply opening doors. Even so, he always gets where he wants to go -- to that dark corner of our hearts where we can forgive no one, not even ourselves. Co-star Anjelica Huston has a couple of terrific scenes as Freddy's ex-wife, a woman with her own share of guilt, fear and loathing.

Reaches It's Goal - It Makes us Watch, and Entertains
The Crossing Guard is a pyschological drama and study. I don't think it set out to be the most meaningful or important movie of the year. And it doesn't need to be. It explains itself neatly and on time - it doesn't drag along. We are well introduced to all the characters and their points of view - and as audience members are treated to some outstanding performances. I dare say even better than Jack Nicholson is David Morse, easily the best role of his career. The story concerns the pending release of John Booth (played by Morse) who was convicted of the hit and run drunk driving death of Nicholson's little girl. Since the tradgedy Nicholson and his wife (played by Angelica Huston) have split. Nicoholson now tries to kill time, and his memories, in a local strip joint - somtimes trying to get through to his fellow patrons, other times exploding in rages and all the while carefully marking the days off on a calender until John Booth is a free man so he can turn him into a dead one. Two other brief, but well turned roles are the almost totally inexperienced actor Robbie Robertson as Huston's new husband and Richard Brandford, who has made a career of playing 'heavies' as the convict's sympathetic father. I don't think Crossing Guard set out to be a masterpiece, and it need not be, it keeps us well within it's grip throughout, making us think, observe and wonder. This would make a nice double bill with 'The Pledge', in which we see a much more intense Nicholson performance. The Crossing Guard would make a nice warm up. Enjoy.
