We are avid rug collectors and found this book to be a valuable resource. Even though we are fairly knowledgeable about rugs, we still learned from this book. It's the kind of book we wish we had when we were first starting our collection. The author reveals so much in a truly delightful way -- it's kind of like having a close friend or family member with many years of experience guide you through the whole world of oriental rugs. It's hard to say what we like best about this book because it is such a quality piece of work -- from the thoughtful and interesting writing, to the stunning color and black and white photographs, to the fine typesetting, layout and binding. This book is a work of art in and of itself, much like a fine oriental rug. We especially like the colorful stories about the rug weavers, their culture, and way of life. Art is often a great window on another culture, and the author gets this across in a beautiful way.

After sailing tens of thousands of miles in the Americas and Caribbean and using dozens of cruising guides I can honestly say this cruising guide is unsurpassed. It contains detailed information about anchorages, approaches and services available in an easy to use format. With numerous anecdotes and historical stories this book is a pleasure to just sit down and read.

One of the best cruising guides around, definitely the best for Maine. Well written, organized and easy to use. Great sketch charts and all of the info that cruisers (not tourists) really need, as well as a good bit of local color.

Refreshing new idea with cute basic plot. Two year old daughter w/shoe obsession giggles over the forgotten shoes and four year old son enjoys it too. Don't forget to add this one to your shopping cart :)

We got this book from the library, and now here I am buying it, because we've renewed it so many times they won't let us renew again and my 3-year old son can't get enough of it. My 4-year old loves it, too, and the too of them laugh out loud each time we read it. We are a family of readers, and our house is filled with children's books, but it has been a long, long time since any book struck such a cord with any of our kids.

what a pitty, to waste this cast on such a screenplay. in fact, if one looks better one can find that the source of the story was boito--the same as arrigo boito, the author of mefistofele and libretist of his time.

the characters are out of place, and the story syncopated.

I just bought this film on VHS produced by Fox Lorber Home Video, to my surprise ( or shock ) I found in the box that the leading male actor is Stewart Granger !!!! instead of poor Farley. And this mistake is repeated all over. This is just poor merchandising. It just happens poor Farley gained inmortality by starring in this movie.

It's difficult to find, in all the history of the cinema, a so beautifull, sugestive and deep work like this masterpiece of Luchino Visconti. Glorius technicolor, a magnificent cast (even Farley Granger, a very limited actor, is splendid here),dialogues by Tennessee Williams and a wonderful historical recreation of the "Risorgimento", plus a musical score by Verdi and Bruckner make this film a permanent pleasure for persons of good taste. In my opinion the best film of Visconti and perhaps the most beautiful film of all times.
