5 star book....however
I believe I have read almost every golf book published. The theory and terminology of this book is both new and exciting. However, I do not understand the author's insistence on directing her book's toward women.

Although "Power Golf for women" does address the anatomical differences that will affect a woman's swing, I believe the title of the book should have been "Power Golf". This book would benefit any male player and by directing it toward women the author has lost a good male audience.

Ms. Horn is without a doubt the first lady of golf instruction. However if she wants to become golf's next guru she's going to have to bridge the gender gap.

A++++++++++++
I have read both Golf is A woman's Game and Power Golf for Women. Although i agree Golf is a Woman's Game is a great book Power Golf For Women wins by a nose. You can't go wrong with either of these books. I just like the emphasis on power and this book has really improve the distance in my game. VERY MUCH RECOMMEND

An absolute Gem of a book
I was impressed with this author's book Golf is a Woman's Game, but Power Golf for Women is an absolute gem. Once again as I stated in my review for Golf is a Woman's Game, this book applies to men as well. I do believe this one will end up one of golf's finest books.

The best thriller I have read in many years.
Simply an amazing thriller. Daley, author of Prince of the City, the New York City police corruption classic takes you to a completely different time and place -- France after WWII, and makes you feel he's a native of the place. (Perhaps he is; if not, he is a masterful writer.) The story is reminicent of those elegant old "caper" movies on the Riviera -- not in the silly or frothy sense. It features a master criminal who commits a brilliant heist with a team of whom you root for and can't help admiring, despite his glaring flaws and mistakes. And a dogged French inspector, whom you also root for. The setting of post-WWII France features all manner of realistic details about the time and place, from the simmering resentment of the American rescuers of Europe to what became of all the fast, surplus PT boats after the war. This is one of those books that will make you want to run out and read everything you can find by the same author -- indeed, searching for new titles by Daley is how I ended up on this page.

Excellent police novel
This book is in keeping with Daley's usual standards of quality, with well-drawn, realisitic characters and relationships, an intricate and twisting plot, and plenty of gritty action. Indeed, Daley's works make most others of this genre seem almost amateurish by comparison.

Best Non-Fiction Cop Novel Ever Written
This non-fiction book is better than anything any screenwriter or novelist could ever come up with.

The characters are so vivid and the story so tense and so heartbreaking that as you get towards the end of the book you won't know where to turn or who to feel sorry for.

You want to know what goes on inside a cop's head? Read this...then see the movie, just as good.

The NYPD is notoriuosly tight-lipped about it's history
Luckily the author(a civilian writer) was appointed Deputy Commissioner to be a spokesman for Patrik Murphy and the Department during one of it's most turbulent periods - the early 70's. So he had an insider's access to events such as the Knapp commission, Foster and Laurie's assassination, the Joe Columbo killing, the Pierre hotel robbery, the Harlem Mosque murder and the battles with the BLA. Each of these is of course covered in it's own hard to find book, but Target Blue is a well written overview that shows how each effected the other and offers a glimpse of the politics involved. Ideally, you should read this along with Albert Seedmans "Chief" to get a rounder view of events.

The Author went on to write "Prince of the City"

Excellent telling of Mel Fisher's hunt for the Atocha
I am VERY interested in Mel Fisher's hunt for the Spanish Galleon Atocha sunk in 1622. Believe me, this is the most interesting book on the subject. You won't be able to put it down. The story of the galleon's journey and shipwreck is also told. A fascinating story well told.

triumph and tragedy
Should be read by anyone with an interest in France. Each of the chapters deals with a different aspect of French culture, and they bind together to form an entertaining whole. French history is the story of great triumphs in the arts, and great tragedies as well. My own favorite personal chapters include the chapter on Bordeaux, which is Micheneresque in its complexity(he starts out by describing Bordeaux's complex river geology which makes it suitable for wine grapes, and continues through its prominent medieval families of wine growers and its tragic role in the French Revolution) , the first chapter on Nice, the incredibly tragic chapters on World War I and Charles De Gaulle's role in World War II, the chapter on Avignon and its popes, the chapter on Le Puy and the Marquis de Lafayette's role in the American Revolution, and the chapter on Brittany--but I am leaving out quite a lot in this brief summary.

Portraits of France
A wonderful book about selected towns in France. For those of you travelling to France--a must read. For those of you WISHING to travel to France -- a must read. For those of you interested in the history of France -- a must read. This book is difficult to explain because it is an historical overview of many areas, but almost reads like a novel. History, antedotes, reasons, perspectives and historic explanations about each area. You will definately have a different viewpoint of your visit. I've read it over and over....and it is fresh every time. ENJOY.

Very special and perspicacious.
I read this book while staying at my friends home in Venasque, France. It was clear from the beginning sentence that Robert Daley had a very special eye and ear for story telling. I became deeply fascinated with his story of the great revolutionary the Marquis de Lafayette. And I was deeply touched that Lafayette was buried in American soil that he carried back to France and used for his grave at Picpus cemetery. And as a serious recreational cyclist I loved the Jacques Anteill story. This is a very special book written from a perspective that would be difficult to duplicate today.

A great book to get you started on the road to wellness
The book was easy to understand, easy to follow and easy to incorporate into your diet. It may not be the most complete book on the subject of nutrition, but it has excellent advice, great places to start and specific topics to peruse.

Everyone is looking toward nutrition to help them out with specific problem areas, this book does just that. It shows you what is good and what is bad for specific illnesses, and symptoms. I particulary liked the glycemic portion of the glucose chapter, it puts into perfect perspective which foods are worse, better and best to control your glucose level. Since many illnesses are now attributed to insulin resistance (like PCO, diabetes, prostate problems) I thought this section was particulary enlightening. The herbs, minerals and vitamins in each portion were very well documented also, and relevant to each health area being discussed.

Its an excellent place to start for those travelling down the road of natural healing.

A very good reference guide! However..........
I am impressed! Not Blown-Away.....but impressed! A few items like the "New Food Pyramid" and the "Health Concern Assessment" section are extremely valuable (Especially for the layman).

As a Professional Nutritional Advisor though, I was a little disappointed that a publication of this high quality (Great questionnaires, great illistrations, good general health information, etc.) was lacking as much as it was. There is a section in vitamins and minerals for instance and later it touches on some herbs. What about other nutrients that don't fall into those categories?

For example: One particular nutrient (Lyprinol) is a marine lipid extract that comes from the New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussle. This Super-Nutrient is THE MOST POWERFUL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY on the planet but was somehow overlooked.

Another example: Years ago Professor Dr. Jack Masquelier discovered and patented THE MOST POWERFUL ANTI-OXIDANT on the planet. This nutrient is Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins. His formulation (OPC-85) is still unmatched by any other anti-oxidant claiming it is also an OPC. Yet this vital nutrient was completely overlooked as were several others like Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM), Detailed Amino Acids, Glucosamine Sulfate, Glucosamine HCI, N-Acetyl-Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate, Collagen Hydrolysate and many, many more.

The recipe, medicine chest, common ailments and food combining sections were Ok but again lacked any substance.

The various DIET sections are not as good as I'd like to see. Example: Someone who is obese would not want to follow this plan as it suggests carbs.

Overall this is a good reference and is a welcome addition to any home or office but I personally would not rely on it as my sole reference.

I have been providing free nutritional advise, counciling and training for years and I welcome any thoughts or questions someone may have.

Denise Mortimore's Comp. Illus. Guide to Nutritional Healing
This was a wonderful book! I have read many books on nutrition. My frustration with other books was that each book said something a little different. I've read Fit for Life, Eat Right 4 Your Type, Sugar Busters...and gained from each book. However, THIS book contains ALL that information and MORE! (Even includes a section specifically for women's health needs). The illustrations are wonderful, the charts very helpful, and a wealth of information is included in the pages. My favorite book on nutrition BY FAR! Highly recommend!
