Mysterious things happen wherever Aunt Eater goes!
Aunt Eater loves mystery books and somehow her life is also a series of mysteries - or rather, mysterious mix-ups. Both my children loved to have this book read to them. When they got older, they were able to read it again by themselves. Parents will also enjoy the cute, charming adventures of Aunt Eater (at least this parent did!). The illustrations are very well done and help add much to the story.

good beginning reader
My six year old son did very well reading this book. There was enough of a challenge without it being overwhelming. He really liked the fact that this book has chapters. Made him feel even better about reading it. It is also a book he could read all on his own, and a cute story

A fun read aloud
Young kids, medium-aged kids, teenagers and adults will all recognize themselves and get a real kick out of this book. The idea is fresh, the prose is playful and matches well with the colorful and energetic illustrations - the book is a real delight.

Just Plain Fun
Children will grin as they recognize themselves in these pages. Parents will nod knowingly. Kids and grown-ups will laugh together as they read this fun book that takes a light-hearted look at the claims and complaints that children often make about cleaning their rooms, wearing boots, going to bed, and so on. Kay Winters has given us a book that is just plain fun and, as a bonus, may help children put their complaints in perspective. Doug Cushman's delightful and richly imagined illustrations add to the enjoyment!

Charming twist on a well-known story
A tale told in rhyme, with colorful illustrations, in which the three little pigs' much more adventurous sister pulls her scaredy-cat brothers out from under the shadow of the wolf. Pre-schoolers will love the exciting new character. My son has enjoyed this story many times.

An excellent book for young girls or PC little boys as well!
This is one of my favorite children's books. In rhyme, the sister of the three little pigs shows them that life is more than just "sitting and waiting", that there are "things to be making"! She shows them that their fears are groundless and gets them out of their house and off having adventures -- as she does! It is an excellent book for all little children, with a girl as the heroine, very much in the spirit of today's women.

Aunt Eater Does it Again!
My seven-year old and I love the Aunt Eater series. These books are ideal for children just moving into chapter books; the plots have enough suspense to keep the pages turning, and Cushman's humorous characters and illustrations bring giggles. A great book for any young mystery lover.

I love it as much as my kids do
From the moment we started reading this book, my kids and I were laughing about all the things moms can't do. It's funny and nicely illustrated, but best of all it puts a cute spin on how we involve our kids in our daily activities. If you like this one, you'll also like OLIVIA, about an energetic pig who wears herself and her mother out.

Bright & Entertaining!
My toddlers love this book. They adore the bright pictures of the Mommy and child dinosaurs and especially the fun concepts (like racing in a grocery cart).

It is a quick read and often requested at bed time.

Those Poor Helpless Moms!
Douglas Wood really captures the pre-school mind as he takes a long look at all the little things Mom can't do. She can't push a grocery cart fast enough. She never knows how to pick out the right clothes. She eats all the wrong things for breakfast, like coffee and yogurt and bran flakes instead of Yummos with purple marshmallows. She always has trouble saying good-bye and she can't let go of a hug without a kiss or two or five. Poor Mom, she's helpless. It's a good thing she has her little one to look after her..... Told from the child's perspective, What Moms Can't Do is a creative and inventive story all pre-schoolers will love. Mr Wood's simple, gentle and witty text are beautifully complimented by Doug Cushman's colorful and expressive artwork featuring a mother and little dinosaur. Fortunately, that little dinosaur has found one thing that Moms do better than anyone else...they love you!

Maybe I'll Understand When I Have My Midlife Crisis
No wonder Bob Greene's so much more well known as a columnist than a novelist. All Summer Long, while full of good writing and interesting situations, seems to me to be self-serving and melodramatic. If only this had been written as non-fiction, I would have not only believed it, but would have respected it. Instead, I could predict what would happen pages ahead of time and kept thinking that maybe I have can have career as a novelist after all. It's just not very interesting to anyone but the characters. If I ran into any of these guys in a airport or at a ballgame or in a hotel lobby, I'd not only think them quite unspectacular, but wouldn't dig too deeply into their lives, as I'm sure I'd be bored before they got around to reliving their first "adventure."

Oh, woe is the forty-three year old Midwestern male, who can't face the reality of everyday life. Sure, there isn't a person alive who wouldn't like to take the summer off and travel, but I don't know how many of us want to do it with a bunch of people that we were really only close to 25 years ago. Forget my friends from high school, I want to take off with the people who mean something to me today -- people with whom I have something in common besides having attended the same school two and a half decades ago. This is exactly why we have reunions every five years, not every day. For the most part, they have no relevance in our daily lives.

That said, I still enjoyed the escapism this book offers. Greene offers simple, but significant insights into human nature, especially those that I imagine for men in their mid forties. The trio's travels are both funny and sad, and Greene doesn't necessarily push the reader one way or another. Things just happen and the summer is over, just like it is for you and me. And just like yours and mine, no one can really say they're interested in these sad sacks.

Greene steals the title from the Beach Boys song, although a song more representative and equally sappy might have been Terry Jacks's Seasons In The Sun. They had joy, they had fun, they had a season in the sun. Big deal.

A Great Escape
I stumbled upon Bob Greene's All Summer Long a couple of years ago when I read his "Hang Time" book about Michael Jordan. The subject matter of several friends putting everything aside for a Summer and roadtriping around the country has always been appealing to me and this story didn't disappoint. Although this is a fictional account, you really feel as if the author is recanting a journey that he actually took. I found myself really wanting to do something like this someday as well. I highly recommend this book.

No Pulitzer - Just Extremely Readable and Entertaining
This book will take the male reader - from 18 to 80 - on a fantasy ride that will hold his interest from page one to the end. This wasn't written to be considered "literature;" it simply entertains very well and gives the reader's his money's worth.

I'm now reading it for the second time. How many books get THAT award from readers?

Truly Insightful
Dr. Shoshanna has written a book filled with insight (sometimes alarmingly so) of the way men who leave think about themselves and the women they are attracted to. Directly from their own words I came to understand that some men covet their fantasies so much that they could not possibly be in a real relationship. Other men express how their pain from past experiences keeps them so defended they could not be present either. Some men prefer adventure and others want to recapture the energy from their past. She has covered a wide range of perspectives.

One thing women can learn from this book is that what they did and who they are is probably not to blame for why men leave them. It's more likely that they unknowingly pick men who were never really their in the first place. By reading this book they can begin to recognize these men before getting too involved and save themselves the pain.

Men can learn to understand their own feelings better, help them through rough spots and gain insight when they are tempted to leave a good relationship or tempted to stay in a bad one.

Dr. Shoshanna's insights and commentary along the way help to clarify the pattern. And she offers helpful suggestions to women and men in a particular situation or working with a certain pattern.

This is a unique presentation of men's thinking and feeling. I found it fascinating. I read it from cover to cover.

An engrossing and profound experience.
To be brief, I now have an understanding of relationships I never had before. I highly recommend this book to both men and women who are involved in, or have been involved in a serious relationship. Thank you Dr. Shoshanna.

A Fantastic and Practical Book.
This is a fantastic book. It never blames men for leaving. In fact, one of the core messages of the book is about "putting an end to blaming".

To the "disgusted" reader from disgusted USA who wrote the nasty review - Unfortunately, many people are not so blessed as to have what you have, and need guidance, support and advice. It seems that you are looking a gift horse in the mouth by lacking such humility, and trying to make others feel ashamed for not having yet found a loving relationship.

WHY MEN LEAVE is a serious analytical case study of many relationships from the male point of view, and why they did and did not work. The author is obviously an astute psychologist who has extensive real world experience. I found the exercises and step by step guidance provided by Dr. Shoshanna to be extremely insightful, practical and powerful in helping me establish the healthist relationship of my life. Thank you Dr. Shoshanna. I highly recommend this book in support of all the readers out there who still seek a loving relationship and the guidance needed to get there.
